where were you playing?

And btw, stay the heck away from Minebrook this year. What a freaking disaster that place has become. They need to shut the place down for a year and fix half their fairways with new turf (they won't).

I won't be going back this year. Which is a shame, it's a mile from my house.

@golfer07840 i played farmstead that day. but it could be from my yard i do live in the middle of no where lol. they don’t have a practice area besides putting so i hit some short pitches before i go out. . yeah thanks for the tip on minebrook. i’ve been in the walking mood all season been playing mostly farmstead, a few times at skyview and maybe 4 times at high point country club.

my vacation is now over so back to only playing 9 after work once or twice a week if i can.

I was up at Crystal Springs on Monday having dinner and two guys came in and said Wild Turkey is in fantastic shape. I'm playing Crystal Springs tomorrow, I'm sure that's in good shape as well. However, it's been cart path only all season.

This rain won't go away. Anyone here been on the Crystal Springs course this spring?

I'll be playing Scotland Run, Ballamor, Twisted Dune and Blue Herron over Memorial Weekend. I'm wondering which wedge bounce I should bring. I expect the Atlantic east coast would be have more moisture in the grass and sand as compared to Northern California. I play with a 10* bounce now. What do you guys think?

Thats a nice rotation. I'd think that your 10* should be fine. Most places are still kind of hard packed for sand (at least places I've played) been wet here.

I play in the galloping hill men’s association every Sunday and have won the club championship twice (got to brag a bit). The greens this year are as good as they have been in the 9 years I’ve played there. We’ve stimped them twice and got 11 both times. Not bad for a course that is among the top round total courses in the state. There is a water problem that is becoming worse every year especially the last two wet years. Much of kenilworth and Union drains into the property. The 12th hole is constantly flooded, even days or a week after rain. From 150-200 is either water or mud. Talk is in a year or so 11 will turn to a par 4 and 12 a par 3. Otherwise, it is an up and down course, some uphill approach shots, downhill tee shots, won’t get much roll in the fairways.

1 hit the club to get you to 100 yards.

2 is as you see it, add 10 yards to approach shot for uphill.

3 approach shot always plays 7-10 longer even though appears flat.

4 watch tee as it points you cockeyed and the ball is above your feet for a righty

5 add 12 yards for uphill, there is a massive ridge from the center of the left edge to the center of the green and to the front. If the flag is right, your. It’s should be right or long. If flag is left, take dead aim but don’t be long.

6 tight par 5, fairway is key

7 elevated green, add at least 10, do not go long of green

8 if you are long and can hit high, can cut much of hole off going over trees, if not try to land something just right of tree in fairway (200 out) and will roll forward and left.

9 fairway is key, uphill approach anything short of front edge is rolling back 5-10 yards.

10 if long you can go over trees and have a wedge in, if not 230-240 with fade. Big slope in center of green

11 par 3, usually long, ridge runs front right to back center

12 if dry make sure you hit fairway, marsh left and right. If wet, tees are up and hole plays 290 let it rip.

13 220 along tree line gets you 140, you can take driver over trees but a block likely gets wet and a hook may find trees

14 I think hardest holes on course. If long and get over big hill in fairway, can have 100 in. If not anywhere from 150-200 in. Green very front to back and right to left, with ridge front to back up the center of green

15 downhill par three, green breaks Right to left.

16 marsh left, trees right. Green back to front, any wedge on left 2/3 of front of green is likely coming off

17 is a short par 4, you do not want to be above or left of the flag, very sloped green. Best miss of green is short right with uphill putt.

18 par 5 if you can bomb down the right edge of fairway, there is a speed slot which will give you 20-30 yards of roll.

Have fun, hope the beer cart finds you there, they tend to always hit use coming to or going from the turn, where there is a window before the 10th tee.

> Greens at Galloping Hill were concrete. Fairways were dry and running. I liked the front 9 better than the back 9. For the outing the course was playing very short. Overall, good course. However I wouldn't drive the HR or so to get there and pay the out of county rate.

Just discovered Galloping Hills having moved to NJ in March. I have played it for the last two Fridays and it has been great.

Agree. Great track. The first few holes are tough.
