Don't mind Wolff at all. Agree about the voice pitch, but seems like a good guy. Don't see why anyone has a problem with him (yet).

What I do find annoying listening to the announcers talk about how unique his swing is. Gay Brewer brought it back inside but his position at the top is identical to Wolff, and he had the preset open hips at address. Miller Barber was extremely similar but without the power. Calvin Peete and Jim Furyk are not the same but have aspects of what Wolff does.

Backswing doesn't matter for anything. I guess the announcers just need something to talk about.

I kind of agree, the kid is pretty annoying... but then again he's only 21 so i'm sure he'll calm down a bit. His swing coach, Gankas, is also kind of a tool tho too... like the Ed Hardy of teaching pros... very "bro-ey". Maybe it's something in the water.

What do I know though, I'm just a keyboard jockey with a 9-5 when these guys are the ones living my dream.

Like, no.

At home, with his buddies he can chatter, but as a professional, as a performer he can not. And with social media, saying bad things gets noticed. Which is a good thing. I am old enough to remember guys like Monty, Howard Clark et al being azzholes to people in crowds or commentators and getting away with it. Or young players being overly cocky. That gets corrected now. Pat Reed says a lot less stupid stuff now compared to when he entered the tour.

Not saying that Wolff really is out there with Monty, he is open-minded and outspoken for sure. And if he goes into ant area territory he will hear about it. Think he’s sometimes on the limit, but we also do not want only polished personalities. Brooks wasnt polite about the ant but scored heavily. Wolff will probably learn. Brook has been around long enough.

I was referring to him talking smack to DJ, not literally he can say anything he wants with no blowback. Smack talking doesn't have to be earned, especially at a friendly event for charity where it's supposed to be fun.

Wolfe said something to Rory and look what Rors did, he came back with something hilarious. DJ just has the personality of a potato.

Wow... this is truly a mind blowing thread. The kid is 20/21 years old. Playing golf with the best players of his era, who he looks up to immensely.

He’s talkative to relieve his anxiety of not ‘fitting in’ compared to the rest of the group (as much as JT should have replaced Rickie) and people here call him ‘annoying’

 

again, maybe think how you would be portrayed if you were miked up, on camera, playing with DJ, Rory, and Rickie, at 20 years old. Are you convinced you’d handle it any better? Would you fly it by them by 40 yards off the tee (definitely not) and then feel sad that you might have been ‘annoying’ during the telecast? Jesus....

He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. If he's mute the whole time people will be asking why he was mic'ed up.

I think the directors would've switched to someone else if he was uninteresting. Is it possible that everyone else was mute and he was the only one saying anything

Honestly I am not interested in constant talking from the players. If you really think about it, what can a 20/21 year old guy say during the round that is so interesting? But they tell them to "speak flair" and Wolff belts out his 25 pieces of verbal "flair" to build his "brand." The fact that it's inane, stupid or out of place is kinda a given. I like watching them play not talk.
