Burst Mode on Galaxy S3.. Mid 60's in Michigan

Went out with my two sons yesterday (18 and 6) for a round yesterday and decided to try out the burst mode on the camera of the Samsung Galaxy S3. It works very well and the pictures came out pretty well for camera on a phone. Technology just keeps evolving and to be able to not carry around multiple devices in the golf bag/cart is awesome.

 

6-year old (he would tee off and then drop his ball at whoever hit it the furthest, which was usually my son, but I happened to get him on this hole)

 

 

 

 

18-year old (he shot 38 on the front and 42 on the back to my 43/42, so he was pleased with his round and also that he got the best of me)

I have been getting a full day + with 4-6 hours screen on time. Display brightness set at 35%. Just pay attention to your auto-sync as if you have everything syncing constantly that is a big drain as is a poor cellular signal as the phone keeps searching for a stronger signal. I've been very pleased with battery life considering the large screen.

From someone who has taught golf for many years let me say that your 6 year old has something special going on. He is in some great positions. Keep it fun for him and see what happens.

Very cool you could get out this late in the year. My dad still lives up in Michigan and he was thinking of one last round this week.
Get that little guy a net in the garage if you already don't have one! And don't let him know how limited lefty stuff is! haha

Totally agree!! What a great dad to take his boys out, well done We need to worry less about municipal course attire and worry more about how our snobbery and elitism is killing interest in the game.

Your six year old's swing is fantastic! Just a tiny but of a reverse pivot at the top but that's an easy fix

Both your boys have very nice swings. 6 yrs old and he's got a Sergioesque lag.

As far as battery life on the S3, I bought an aftermarket 4000+milliamp and it doubled my battery life. I don't use the original battery as it was mediocre at best. But the aftermarket one for about $20 is more than worth it. Battery life on most smart phones stink. Unless one gets a large aftermarket battery, it'll always be a sore spot with these new smart phones.

I remember having to wait to get your pics back from development. Pretty cool that the shutter speed is high enough to catch a full sequence like that. Both swings are looking quite well.

How strong of a draw does your older son hit with that grip? Just wondering.

something must be wrong then as the s3 is known to have good battery life for a smart phone

The hole I took that picture on is a hard dog leg left so he was playing a hard draw around the corner as if you hit driver straight you end up through the fairway. My younger son loves to play so we take him out when the course is not busy as one of the local courses let's me take him out for free with me. Best thing about golf is you can play for your entire life and share it with all of your family. Best way to spend a few hours with your kids.

Nice swings. Never thought of using burst mode for that(never thought of using it at all!)

All smart phone battery life is poor if used a lot. There are a few apps to help. and if you have data on all the time it kills it.

I was on holiday in Turkey this year had my 2 year old Galaxy S1 with me and got three days battery just by turning data off.

Get JuiceDefender Ultimate and it will save your battery. Basically you can set your phone up to switch things on when you need them rather than on all the time or not at all

Ah, nice....i'll try this app when I get home. She is on her second Galaxy S3 and about to trade in for a 3rd due to issues, its a nice phone and I love Android but she just cant get more than a few hours out of it (w/ everything turned off, battery saver on, brightness low, etc).

As for people pissy i mentioned the jeans, tough cookies. 81% (search) of the people on the board believe you shouldnt wear jeans on a golf course, how dare i mention this!?!?!

The burst photo is very cool, its pretty seemless and if you scroll down through them fast enough it makes an awesome flip book. I played golf with my dad growing up and continue to do so when i see him a few times a year now. It is truly a life time sport that you can enjoy with your kids. I hope they stick with the sport and you all can continue to enjoy the game together for a long time.

As for your kids swings, they look great. You clearly spent some time in the beginning to ensure they had the fundementals (grip, posture, etc) this will truly pay dividends as they continue to play the game.

That burst mode is a neat feature! I don't believe my iphone4 has it....we're getting it next year for sure! LOL!

Has some nice "touch to quick-start/stop" video recording modes that are great for sports as well as a customizable burst mode that takes shots as good as the 4/5 camera is (excellent).

And yes. That 6-yr-old is going to be taking money of folks very soon.
