This is getting real ………

What do you have in mind for stamping MB?

The "S", 726, MB toe, scratch dancing, proto, Ari's new bxtxx, etc etc etc?
I like the idea of the S in the cavity, number on one bumper. Not sure what goes on the other...

Mike this is awesome. Still have the zen but will get into one of these by the sound of it.

Will fittings at the studio be included in price or additional?

I think for us Michigan people that wouldn't be a problem.

I really doubt the design is trademarked or patented since it is a copy of the Anser style putter. Stamp 009 or make it so there could be confusion between the Scotty putter and this one then you have an issue. But the head shape - not a chance.

Everyone makes copies but I can't imagine a business person being dumb enough to document how they made an exact copy of a product that is being made by one of the largest players in the golf equipment industry. Just makes no sense to me.
Why not? No one has a patent on the 009 style putter...Ultimately, it's all variations on the Anser anyway -

Yes but I don't remember any of those guys posting pictures of them measuring and copying it. I've heard lots of 'inspired by' but even without the patent being active still, they don't say they made an exact copy.

Think a lot of Ari and Scratch, as a one off proto for a customer I don't think this is a problem, making a documented "inspired by" another company's design readily available just doesn't fit with originality/integrity I expect from them.

Where did you get your law degree again?

Are the 009 putters milled as one piece, including the neck? This one looks to have a welded neck. If the design isn't patented, then it's in the public domain. Comical to see the Cameron fans up in arms over "copying".

I think that the Futura is pretty unique.

What worries me, is if Scratch is coming up with new lines of wedges or coping others that are out there? Will they always be two steps behind?

I don't think either Byron or Cameron needs to worry. It's highly doubtful that if this comes to fruition, and begins to sell, Scratch won't be able to fill the orders in a timely fashion and will once again fall from grace.

It us funny to hear the comments that it's wrong to copy the 009 when it's just a copy of the Ping Anser. The technology available today makes it much easier and more exact is the only difference. I think Scratch is rhumbing their nose at Cameron, and for that, I'll buy one.

I'd consider buying one, though with my past two experiences buying LH wedges from Scratch, I bet I'd be waiting a long time for it.

Just because I stated that this appears outside of the norm for the company's history does NOT mean that I feel this is a standard practice or new business model for Scratch. I do question the judgement of bringing to market something obviously based upon dimensions/design of a competitor. While I differ on some directions Scratch has chosen to go, I prefer to vote with my wallet rather than question a company's right to run their business model as they see fit. I am sure putter is well made, just not for my preference. Perhaps voicing opinion here will influence decision, perhaps not, but personally feel can disagree without being disagreeable or accusatory.

I would love to hear the story of how the 009 came out, I remember hearing something about it coming out a short time after Byron introduced the 611 I believe. And during that time Scotty and Byron used the same place to get cnc work done. I don't know the story, you have to get somebody to tell the whole story, I have just heard rumors about it in the past.

A copy of a copy lol!

Even had pics transferring measurements with the calipers. Scotty's lawyers wouldn't even need his permission to attack would they?

I'm not a patent lawyer...regular lawyer...or even a recent resident of the Holiday Inn...but don't companies do this type of thing ALL the time...reverse engineer...take competitors products and deconstruct them, etc???

How is this any different? Perhaps more "blatant" - But how do you think SC or anyone for that matter arrived at the specs for their "versions" of the Anser?? Did they just eyeball it??

That was kind of my point. They're all copies. Everyone knows that. Everyone also knows that the original patent expired years ago. Making an 'anser', whichever one you'd like to be inspired by, great. You'd be silly not to. Posting pictures and saying your trying to make an exact copy of a popular current model just doesn't seem like a smart idea to me.

People making comments about The Law and what is or what isn't Legal...

If you don't have a Law Degree...

You're ignorant.

Best to be quiet.

If Scratch makes a good product... I'd be alright with it.

Bought a Scorecard Holder from em.... Was a nightmare... Back ordered... CC Info got screwed up....

It ended up with Pat? ( Don't remember the name, was medicated at the time ) on the phone making sure the CC info was right..

All Good..

They try hard... What more can you ask for?
