I just don't really get it.....

Why doesn't everyone who makes a putter make this exact model.... A good " 009 " style putter for a couple hundred bucks would sell like hot cakes...
This.

A mass produced, milled putter with this head shape at $200-$350 would be a blockbuster. I understand why Scotty won't do it (would kill 009 sales), but I'm shocked the other OEMs don't. Especially Nike, who could market it as Rory's putter. Have been shocked they haven't done it since the Proto-Tai thread. Seems like an easy home run.

I totally agree!!!!! Nike really missed the mark on this and I am also shocked someone has not done a mass production 009 inspired putter in the $250-$300 range????

You don't think ANY OEM could make a limited run of 15000 or so and sell every single one of em?

299.99?

Serious question...

What's the differences between the 009 and Anser shape? Why is the 009 style/shape more desirable?
The differences between some of these and many other putters that are made from a similar design are so small 99% of people couldn't tell or care about the difference.

The 009 and Byron Morgan's DH89 are the modern take on Ping's Scottsdale Anser. The main difference would be the lovely, round, flowing bumpers.

Other than the 100k plus people on this website no body knows what an 09 shape is or cares for that matter. Everyone saying the OEMs are missing the boat with releasing a model like this makes me laugh. There are a billion anser/newport style putters from every company.

I asked a question....

You don't think Nike wouldn't sell 15,000 of em if they made 15,000 of em..

People would buy em just because it was a Limited Edition...

You guys are going to court, lol.

Its one thing to take a generic (non trademarked) style of putter which has been in the public domain for decades, and make your version.

It is a totally different animal to take a trademarked piece and (obviously) make an exact copy for the sole purpose of under cutting the competition.

Really Ari, didn't you go to Business school?
You're obviously not an attorney are you? I am. Business litigation for a large midwest firm. While I technically don't do intellectual property, I work with an army of people who do. A trademark would be something "Titleist," "Scotty Cameron," or "009." I'm pretty certain Scratch isn't putting any of those on their putters.

The next question is whether the 009 design is patented. I'm pretty sure it's not since it's a copy of the Ping Scottsdale "Dalehead" Anser and the Byron Morgan DH89. If anyone was going to get sued it was Titleist when the 009 first came out. But my guess is that there's no patent on the Dalehead or the DH89 since it's just another variation of the Ping Anser. It doesn't really have any unique features or technology.

So I think Ari can sleep well tonight.

I'd be very interested in this putter at a price point around $300-350. Maybe have some different paintfill options included but stamps or engraving would be more $$$.

I don't think they'd sell at the $300 price point, unless it had Cameron attached to it. Even if it was limited. Look at the odyssey ti-hot 1, joe many of those were made? How many sold for $350? I just picked up a mint one for $90, and as far as I can tell, it's pretty damn similar to an 009 or whatever. The head weight is a little lighter, but not my wallet!

Careful there, you might anger the 009 enthusiasts....Those subtle differences between the ti-hot 1 and an 009 is what makes an 009 shape much more desirable to the putter ho.

Approximate pricing $1100 for totally hand made with zero CNC work. Which is what I'm paying for the putter pictured. Any finish and any custom stamping.

$550 for one roughed out with CNC and finished by hand. That includes standard logoing and stamping and any standard plated or barrel brown or barrel black finish.

That being said I do hope Titleist sues and under cross examination/under oath Scotty is asked where the CAD program for his 009 came from.

HA! That would be awesome.

I think the reason we don't see CNC milled anser style putters like the DH89 or 009 or Rory Proto at retail is the time they take to hand grind the beveled edges. Compare a89 or 009 to a standard retail Newport. Look very closely at the bumpers and how the corners bevel. See how sharp they are compared to the DH89 and 009? The softer corners of the DH89 take a trained human hand. Mass production retail runs need to be under a specific price point and where could a major OEM hire enough trained grinders to create that look from a CNC head that is rough AND keep the price low enough for retail? Major OEMs probably would want to sale 50,000-100,000 heads per year, but the price would go up and make retail pointless because the human cost is too high. Cameron has the market maxed out for 009 quantity versus max price allowed. I know Byron can make about 100 putters a month max and he is highly skilled. Where are the workers that would make a retail DH89 and work for pennies so the OEM makes a profit. Retail has its limits. Next time you are at a major golf chain look at how sharp looking all the putters look in specific areas of their design. Tight corners are easier to mass produce than soft flowing edges.
