I really like the domed bezel on the 36mm DJ. I'd like to find a vintage one with a stick dial to wear on a leather strap.

 

I just read through the rest of this thread. OMW, That was interesting. I've always wanted a fine Canal Street chronograph tourbillon with the classic day and date subdials that can be set with the pushers.

Here are some of my watches. My collection ranges from pre-owned flea market Casios to Omega and Rolex. I prefer to play around n the vintage realm rather than buy new. It's just more fun to hunt something down and then bring it back to life.

The Casio eats batteries. I have never worn it for more than a few minutes. My brother has a black one that he wears when he needs a beater and he seems to like it. I like the blue one because Rolex never made a blue sub in the pre-ceramic days. I tend to go G-shock when I need to wear a beater.

Lately I have been interested in Seiko 5's. Amazon has a great flieger-style Seiko 5 for under $60. That's the best watch deal on the planet.

I have a Citizen that eats batteries. It was great until the original battery died. I didn't wear it for like a year and when I finally changed the battery, it turned into a battery hog.

I took my 18 years old Citizen watch to have its battery replaced and the bracelet clasp repaired only to find out there has been leakage from the battery and you'd need to replace all the electronics inside with an estimated cost of USD 170 or so. I thought the guy saw me looking at the new watches and tried to get me buy a new one so I took it to another clocksmith only to hear him say the say thing. There's no point in repairing such an old watch, especially when a new equivalent costs around $200.

 

So, I found a good deal for a Tissot T-Sport V8s but they didn't have the one I was most interested in. Thus the store order one for me to see - a black-faced version with a black leather strap. It's dressy enough as there's no "bling" yet it doesn't look boring. While I wasn't looking forward to spending on a watch now, maybe it'll turn out to be a good long-term investment. (I'm sure many of you are amused at my consideration of a $350 watch being expensive)

My dad just gave me his Omega Geneve Chronostop for christmas. it is the more limited "driver" watch that you wear under your wrist. If you wore it like a traditional watch, 12 o'clock would be at the 3 o'clock position. He bought it when he was in the army in 1969. Any one know of a good place i can send it to be serviced/refinished? The only 2 places on the omega website in the US are New York and Miami. I live in GA. Thanks!

RJ is way overpriced, LW isn't bad looking but better buy used because the value will tank! I'm a big fan of independent watch houses, but RJ and LW are 2 I would stay away from.

Hopefully someone here might be able to direct you to a reputable refinisher. Maybe check watchuseek.com forums?
I have and old Universal Geneve Polerouter that I would like to get fixed (day/date), but I haven't been able to find a reputable UG specialist in the US.

I like that a lot .. very nice. Clean looking with hands and a dial that should be great in the dark. I am a big fan of well-illuminated watches. I see it on Amazon.ca for $385 Canadian, which is pretty nice. Might pick myself up one.

What does that say? Seiko? What kind?

It's a Seiko "Pogue." Col Pogue wore this model into space so that's where it got it's fame from! It's a really cool watch, turning the crown turns the bezel, and pushing the crown in changes the day/date function, very cool!

It's an early 70's piece. I got that from the original owner with original bracelet!

 

I was able to score this Omega bumper wind yesterday. It's a pre-Seamaster with an inscription form '51 on the back! 14k gold filled. It will be for sale soon though.

 

 

I also will be putting this vintage Wyler up for sale too. It has the original box and strap! I put this funky strap on it as well!

And I just picked up a Planet Ocean 42mm 8500 movement yesterday

 

 

I've also got a mid-size Omega Seamaster Professional with blue bezel and wavy blue dial (1120 movement) a vintage Omega Seamaster (circa 1976), a polished stainless Tissot Visodate with a black dial on a black leather croc printed strap, and a gold Tissot Visodate with a black dial on a black croc printed leather strap. I'm very strongly thinking about a Zenith Captain as my next piece.
