chrono24.com is pretty solid for tracking down new and vintage watches. There's also a site bernardwatch.com that a good selection.

watchuseek.com is a good one, I've seen lots of cool vintage watches in their for sale forum.

Just used watchuseek on a solid deal for a Panerai I've been eyeing for a few years. I worked hard this past year and saved up quietly for it. Pics of the Ceramica to come when it arrives.

real estate commission but the watch gods have cursed me by making the swiss currency appreciate

Wow, very nice! It's too bad you weren't able to scoop it up. Any Patek would be awesome to have but that one is a cut above the rest.

Nice pickup! I've been able to found a few really good deals on watchuseek, everybody I've dealt with has been very easy to work with too.

I'm a fan of Stowa German watches. This is the Antea Museum Edition, automatic, simple, elegant. Got this years ago online from Stowa for $400, the demand and price keeps going up.

Buy one used from some well respected dealer abroad. You'll benefit from the strong dollar.

I got my Tissot on Monday!

 

I actually pondered whether to take the one I was waiting for for two months or another V8 with an ivory face and a brown leather strap. It looks so good - timeless but yet different. In the end I had to opt for the black V8 though as I like to wear strong-coloured clothes and black simply suits much better with them and almost everything else. Maybe I'll go get this one later on in the summer.

 

 

Previously a watch has simply been a watch to me. Something you wear on your wrist to check the time occasionally. This is something different though. It makes me feel good looking at it - kind of makes me stand a bit taller. I appreciate the whole package it came in - the shopping bag, the box, the velvet pouch to keep it in, the history book. While it wasn't what you could call an expensive watch, it's still a nice bit of extra to appreciate.I'm not a materialist but the things you use - or look at - often should be things you enjoy - it makes one (at least me) feel better.

I read this story too. Pretty unbelievable find! I think it would've been tough for me to sell such a rare piece so soon after getting it. I'll likely never own a watch that valuable but I feel like that's one you would want to hold on to, regardless of where you got it from.

One in a million, I guess. My GW never has any good golfclubs let alone a decent (by decent, I mean even a SEIKO). Still worth a visit to scan the aisles now and then.

A decade or so ago, the wife and I used to go to garage sales. One day, the wife was looking through a cigar box of junk watches. She asked me if I saw this one. I almost had an orgasm. A 1960's white gold Longines black faced tank watch, without a crystal, and a beat up band. I asked the lady if she'd take a dollar for it, she agreed.

In the car, I gently wound it. It runs perfectly, got a crystal and a new band for around $30. I wear it occasionally, a really nice dollar watch.

As an Omega guy, I must say, I REALLY like the look of the new Globe Master and even though I'm still a little on the fence about the long term durability of the ceramic cases that Omega is using on some of its Speedmasters, I do really like the look of the Dark Side of the Moon Vintage Black and the Dark Side of the Moon Sedna Black.
