Here are my current watches. My fav is the Datejust I got from my from my Dad. IBM used to give these out to employees on their 25yr anniversary. It is engraved on the back of the case with his name, date (1982), and the IBM Quarter Century logo. The Submariner is yr 2000 and the Casio is there so I don't beat up the Rolex's too much!

Was bored trawling through the site, stumbled upon the watch topic and just read the whole thread. What happened to Richard? not posting on this thread any longer. Wows us with a $million plus watch collection but has to get the ALS and IWC repaired with non genuine parts...............lol

Not a real one in sight on any of his posts. Why do people try to impress when deep down they must know they are going to get found out. Laughable.

Had to sell my baby (16570) to buy an engagement ring. I don't regret it, but I'll replace it this year.

gotta do what you gotta do.

i have had the new variant of the explorer 2 in larger size. it was not for me.

looked a bit stretched out and proportions were all wrong. back to my classic.

have had this since i was 18/19 don't quite remember but was a gift from my dad.

its the only watch i have not sold (i collect and ho just like clubs but on a smaller scale)

i am 37 now so almost half my life.

there are some clubs you just can't sell and should be in the bag of legends. same applies to watches.

Agreed. I am not a fan at all of the 42mm Explorer 2. The 16570, particularly in white, is probably my favorite attainable Rolex (ie: non Paul Newman or vintage 1942 split-seconds chrono). Mine didn't have the same sentimental value, and was my most liquid asset at the time. Actually made a little profit on the transaction, which is the nice thing about Rolex.

Short term, I'm thinking of going with a Habring^2. If you don't mind me asking, what's your grail? I've got two, and gun to my head not sure which I'd choose: a Patek 5170, or a Laurent Ferrier Galet Micro-Rotor (silver dial/arabic numerals).

A Paul Newman Daytona is #1 on my list as grail, and a Moser Monard is #2!
[/quote]

Both of those would be fantastic to own. Do you have any experience with Nomos Glashutte? I really like the simple dials on these watches but really don't know much about them. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Nomos is a great little manufacture. In house movements, really high quality for the price. If the Bauhaus aesthetic appeals to you, don't think twice!

Yep, 40mm. I also have relatively small wrists, and won't even consider a watch over 42mm. Just doesn't fit with my whole look/style.

Nomos is a hell of a deal, one of the best in watch making! The Club is a great watch and better value!

Thanks for the reply! That is one great looking watch. I originally looked at the club because I thought the price was awesome but thought at 36mm it would be a tad too small (I normally look for watches in the 38-42 mm range) but now seeing it actually on someones wrist it doesn't look too small at all.
