Did you see Steve Williams face every time Adam missed those putts on Sunday. It was priceless.

You could just see the wheels spinning. My old boss never missed those.

[/quote]Meh. Looks too cookie cutter. When I watch him, Tiger or Rory I feel like they're all carbon copies. Yeah, they're perfect swings, but I'd rather watch a swing like ZJ, Sneds or even Bubba, the latter who never had a swing coach in his life.

[/quote]Yeah, I saw it. Nevertheless Scott still is pretty solid in putting. It's the only way he could've won Masters. It will be very interesting to see which way he goes to adapt when the broomstick is banned next year. I think he won the Players with the orthodox putter, so I think he will be okay. The Broomstick resurrected his putting though there's no doubt.

I wonder if it's just coincidence that Stevie Williams has said this could be his last season on the bag and he "may do one more year with Adam" before retiring. The coincidence being that he would be retiring the year Adam has to switch to a legal putter... Maybe he thinks Scott won't be able to handle the switch.

Yes, but he wasn't even close to being this successful or consistent before he switched to long putter. Because he developed the "yips" or putting nerves at some point. It's no secret. Adam has admitted that the reason he began anchoring the putter was because he couldn't putt with a short putter. He won the odd tournament before the long putter ever now and then because of his ball striking, not his putting. He will go back to being who he was before he began anchoring the putter... Winning 1 PGA Tour tournament every few years and not contending in the majors.

Stevie Williams wants no part of that. He wants to be in contention every week or it's not worth it for him at his age. When Scott loses the anchored putter he will no longer contend every week.

It's not like he was a hack before the long putter. He had multiple tour wins including The Players. With that said I think it's pretty obvious that his short game/ game management is what has held him back and continues to hold him back from being one of the best of his era. Adam has had a handful of tournaments, including majors, that were his for the taking... not sure he has the personality to be a great closer. His talent has always kept him up near the top, though. I think he has a good shot at winning another major or two while he's in his prime, just depends if he can keep it together for all 72 holes.

I wouldn't be surprised if having Stevie on the bag isn't as much of a confidence/ experience boost as the long putter is. Maybe a pairing with a putting guru like Stockton would extend his career after the long putter.

I suspect Adam's expectations and desires to win at all costs is not as strong as many GolfWRXers. He's seems like a smart, thoughtful, and decent human being. He doesn't seem to have the drive of Tiger, for example. Good for him. Golf isn't everything to him.

That 712U 2 iron looks gross. I bet he hits it 250 easy; 280 when he flushes it. Does anyone know if the 714Us have come out? Those SM5s and the TVD 60 K grind have seen some use. Looks like he's been hitting them for half a decade. Can't wait 'til I get my SM5s back from vokey wedgeworks!

Apparently before switched to Micky Mouse, he was rock solid with a regular putter. This is his job and he will figure it out. I just hope he doesn't look silly like now. I feel like he is going to fall over every time i see him putt.
