I wonder if it's just coincidence that Stevie Williams has said this could be his last season on the bag and he "may do one more year with Adam" before retiring. The coincidence being that he would be retiring the year Adam has to switch to a legal putter... Maybe he thinks Scott won't be able to handle the switch.
Mate I think you might be reading a bit too much into that...

Plus, the long-putter broomstick will still be legal and he will use it.

Just can't "anchor" and touch any part of his chest/body, right?

interesting hes gone back and stayed back with the 680s, granted only some much difference in a blade, what are the real differences btw a 680 mb and the new titleist offerings?
Quite a bit muscle in the 680's. I'm guessing the 680's give him the slightly more preferred trajectory (window) that he's looking for.

This cat is going to sit at World #1 for a minute....and by minute I mean a LONG time.

I can't see anyone knocking him off simply because while he may not win every event, he rarely finishes outside of top 20.

Is there going to be a length restriction on putters once rules change or just anchoring??

I think the current length restrictions will stay in place. Just don't anchor it.

He hits the ball very high, hence the 680's, which offer a more penetrating ball flight.

Not so sure...I heard Adam say in an interview that he played the normal ProV1 because he was a lower ballflight player and it gave him the spin increase that he needed.

Also, the KBS Tour shaft is a fairly high launching shaft that spins more than other options, like Dynamic Gold.

The spinnier shaft and the spinnier ball makes me believe he's actually looking for some spin and trajectory.

Also like mentioned the 680s have some beef to their sole compared to the newer blades, so maybe he's looking for the classic feel and address appearance while still looking for some launch.

He's got that white weight in the driver or 4 gram, wonder how much hot melt he has forward or looking for more launch in the back of the head

Yeah, both Tiger and Adam play the higher spinning option in their balls because they don't put enough spin on the ball with their irons.

No clue about the driver...there isn't a ton of info about Adam online in regards to his equipment. I think this thread is basically it.

Sometimes he will say something regarding it but I just notice he's really not in the spotlight much.

I've heard announcers say that he hits the ball pretty low with his driver though. I'm sure that's relative.

I was at a boutique club fitter today and mentioned that I had replaced my 680s with 712 MBs earlier this year, and he referred to the 712 MBs as "they're old". He seemed confused about what the 680s are, so I said, "Adam Scott is now playing them", but the guy was adamant that Adam is playing CBs. He then thought I was talking 731s and asked if I was playing 731 CBs or PMs. Finally, he decided that I was actually playing with 690 CBs.

I'm sure he's a fine club fitter, but it was the worst example of bullshitting I've ever seen.
True, I know my clubs thoroughly. LD in some of his witb vids seems like he barely knows his specs. Seen other vids of pros witb and their uncertainty is noticeable as well.

Be that as it may, he didn't have to push back on what I said. Nobody made him refute my statement that Adam Scott plays blades, and nobody made him try to convince me that my previous blades were cavity backs.

For actual content have we gotten any comment on why Adam switched back to the 680s last fall?

 • 2 weeks later...

Anyone ever check out his stats on pgatour.com? I'm not sure if they're using Trackman but his numbers are pretty eye opening, especially his launch angle. He launches it between 8 and 9 degrees on the driver, one of the lowest on Tour. He can obviously get away with this because of his swingspeed but since he has a 9.5 driver he must have a pretty steep AoA relative to most players.
