Not that I totally disagree with you but "one swing" is all it takes to hurt yourself... ask Tiger.

I was getting my tomato pots ready for the this year and I did one wrong move and went down. Couldn't walk for 2 days. Had to get 3 nerve blocks and still couldn't play for 2 weeks.

As far as the videos, it's a promotion, he's working. When I have a crowd around me I swing a bit harder and if there is a Long Drive marker out there I, for some odd reason, swing totally different than normal.

The football field... not sure what was going on there... but again, it's a different atmosphere.

Can you imagine the headlines if he pulled something?? "Idiot Bubba has to WD because of LD contest." Then the anti-bubba crew can post about that. It's a lose/lose for him.

Not only is it for the fans, it is also for charity. Bubba would get to give $25k to a charity of his choice if he were to win and he'd be favourite to do so.

Anyway, might be better if Rory gives the money to kids in Haiti than Bubba giving it to some Church in Florida.

Bubba doesn't have the right filters. A normal guy would go out there, make one normal swing and and then tell the press that he missed it a bit and hopes to do better next year. But a normal guy also doesn't have any expectations of winning or any ego tied up with being the longest guy out there.

He's taken medication for panic attacks. Panic and manic disorders have some similarities.

I have a sibling who has been diagnosed as bipolar 2. There are varying degrees.

Bubba's behavior and my past experience leads me to at least consider this. And for the record I don't fault him for not wanting to participate in the long drive, sign autographs, or whatever. Many of us just would have responded differently.

It wasn't long ago that someone on here gave MAJ a hard time because he wouldn't skip one off the pond at Augusta on 16. There have been others that have gotten grief for not participating in the Par 3 contest. He does seem like the kind of guy that would jump into something like this...I guess it wasn't the right time. Even though I'm not a Bubba guy and I kind of feel like he could have phrased his response differently, this is and should be a non-story. I agree with what the widow-maker said above.

I was getting my tomato pots ready for the this year and I did one wrong move and went down. Couldn't walk for 2 days. Had to get 3 nerve blocks and still couldn't play for 2 weeks.

As far as the videos, it's a promotion, he's working. When I have a crowd around me I swing a bit harder and if there is a Long Drive marker out there I, for some odd reason, swing totally different than normal.

The football field... not sure what was going on there... but again, it's a different atmosphere.

Sure, the casual fan knows that Bubba is very long, has a pink driver and probably owns the General Lee. On this forum where there are a lot of golf enthusiast we know a lot more about him and his polarizing behaviors, hence the critics. Hope it helps in understanding my point of view buddy

After reading what the link provided, all I thought was what an idiot the person was that saw Bubba's response as whinning. Whinig is what someone does when others wonn't do what they want... whinning is what someone does when someone devotes an article to Bubba, and thinks because he wants to focus on the practice round, he's somehow making others dislike him. Really???

My advice, follow Mr. Loudpants, shirtless John Daly. He'll hit driver beause idiots in the gallery want him too, and that's why we never see him on the leaderboard, and why he only shows up if he gets a sponors exemption. Yep, he's your man - looser!

1. He's telling it like it is and not playing word games.... Normal Bubba but not normal PGA...

2. He's too dense/egotistical to say "ya, I'm looking forward to it" and then just hit a normal Bubba drive.. possibly losing the contest..

Fame and fortune can be a prison. I am one that doesn't like to be controlled PERIOD. One day Bubba may want to hit a ball while skydiving because that's what he wants to do that day. The next day he may not want to hit in a long drive contest. He is an emotional guy who probably doesn't want to be controlled. He hit a 42_? yrd drive this last week. What does he have to prove? You want to see him bomb it? Buy a ticket and follow him on Sunday. He is a person not a puppet. I can also argue for the sake of Marketing that he has more to lose than to gain. Remember when Rory left in the middle of a trny and lied about an injury... there are plenty of excuses/lies they can come up with. I wish the public could except it if he said, "Because I would rather sleep in for 10 more minutes." We've all been there but IMO it looks Bubba is experiencing the fame/fortune prison and doesn't want to be controlled and some excuses just wont fly.

So Bubba hit a 3i....I'm glad he didn't pull anything, or catch it fat. He could have damaged a wrist tendon, or had a rock or old tee fly up and hit him in the eye.
