Does anyone know why the clubs are so long? The blade PW is 36" when most are 35.75" or even 35.5".
Call me cynical if you like, but would it fair to say the reason may be, so that Nike can substantiate any claims of them being 5 yards longer than their last Iron?? Or maybe they have done research into the prospective buyers, and discovered that they are all will be over 6ft tall?

To tell the truth, I've no idea!!

I'll reserve judgement until I see them in person...but

People will buy these because they are Nike guys...people will buy these because they perform and don't care what they look like, some like the volt color. But if you don't think the looks of the cavity makes a difference when it comes to sales you're kidding yourself. There is a LONG list of very good clubs that didn't sell because people didn't like the look. Volt is a fad color and Nike will have to ride it out for a while to see if they made a good decision.

Ask yourself this...if they put a rack of clubs that looked like the protos next to a rack of these, both with the same price tag, which do think would sell the best?
Just like the Covert driver...it's a successful product but if you put a rack of the red ones next to a rack of the flat black which rack is empty first?
While I agree with that based on the people who frequent Golfwrx, I completely disagree with the general public.

People gravitate to products that are differentiated from all the others on the rack. This is what Nike has done with their line. While it may not appeal to all, it certainly sets them apart.
Square drivers are different. I guess that's why they're so popular now.

Can someone explain what the difference is with the pocket or speed face or whatever is different in the 7/8 in the pro combo?
you know how the old pro combos have a pocket cavity? Well they moved weight so that the center of gravity is more in the middle of the club face (instead of closer to the heel). In that old pocket cavity, they basically have a RZN polymer cavity. They are calling it RZN cavity. once you get to the 8-iron on down, its a muscle cavity.

sorry if my question has already been answered - got lost a little bit in this thread.

in my understanding, the short irons (pw-8) in the PC are the same as the Blades or do they differ (besides the 1° stronger loft)?

thank you for clearing this up!
The PC short irons are pocket cavities.

But you can always order the blades in their place
Scott, I don't think that's right. The pro combos have RZN cavity (formerly known as Pocket Cavities but filled in with the RZN Polymer) long irons (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) and muscle cavity short irons (8, 9, P, A). The lofts are different too. The PC's are 1 degree stronger.
While Nike has different names for the cavities, they are both "pocket" style cavities I believe. I just think the short irons are one piece and the long irons are multi piece.

As far as mix and match goes, these are 100% designed to mix and match.

To the point that Nike designed the sole of the PC's with one degree additional bounce to allow for a greater range of loft adjustment. I am not sure if the blades have the same adjustability.

HATE the name. I've always known Nike Vapors as mediocre tennis shoes. I think they're up to the Vapor 9 now.
Vapor is one of the main lines and until the last year or so was the top of the line for hockey equipment made by Bauer which is owned by Nike. I have worn some version of Bauer Vapors since the came out in the late 90's/early 20's. Best skates out there by a mile imo. It's also the main brand they use for their Lacrosse gear too.

So while it may not be their top of the line brand in Tennis, Vapor has been their flagship brand in most of their equipment. As soon as I saw the name it made total sense to me, using their flagship brand for golf equipment.

The bounce is the same on both sets but the offset on the Pro and the PCs are different. with the Pro obviously with less offset.

Nike does not own Bauer anymore let them go about 2 years ago. Bauer is it's own company now. Just an FYI
Lot of people thought when the GTO was released it was ugly, heck one of its nick names was the "goat", but with that 4 barrel carb and massive motor, you can do the math. If they perform like Cally MB Protos and Mizuno softness all wrapped into one would be pretty sweet - got to withhold judgement till hit. Though I am going to assume the master marketers @ Nike have done some sort of study on the color scheme with players, esp ON the Blades, because every blade thread ive read on WRX is looking for minimalist / traditional, low offset, thin topline, your basic hunk of metal on a stick. - who am I kidding we are the small minority here anyway. Heck people where pissed on the Titleist MB 712's because the MB badge is a plastic insert. Are tiger and rory going to play the MM Blades? Or are they just going to carry these in their driving irons etc and continue using the traditional Nike Blade, which I am assuming that product line will still continue and the MM is additional to the swoosh product offerings.
You don't mean these GTOs do you?

negative sir - those are more like yoro craft mizunos

For me Nike Vapor is synonymous with Nike/Bauer Vapor hockey which failed miserably. The Nike portion of the brand failed but when Bauer took over again it started to do well again and I don't really associate Bauer Vapor's with the old Nike/Bauer Vapor. I didn't know that was a successful product name in other branches of Nike where they'd want to associate these clubs with that name.

Pretty funny. I know Brittany (the interviewer). She married a friend of mine from high school and college and lives 3 blocks away. Her brother in law texted me saying she was going to be there but I didn't find her.

First I've seen this.

Here's a video of Tiger saying when the Vapor Pro's will make it into his bag. He said he was "close" earlier this year but there's no way he would have put them in earlier this year (IMO) before Nike did this launch event, because stories and pics would be everywhere already. Maybe not. Anyways here's the video:

1/4" isn't going to add a noticeable amount of distance so I doubt that was their reasoning.

Personally, as a taller guy, I love that the 5 iron is 38 1/4".

You sure love to hate nike haha. But to argue with ya, they aren't long. Nike measures differently than say titleist. For example, they list their drivers at 45.5, but they are the same size as a 913 driver who says its 45". So I'm assuming it is a standard length pw, similar to titleist.

The means of measurement should be the same regardless of manufacturer. The only question is whether they measure to end of grip or shorter, and Titleist measures to end of grip.

To your specific example, the only way for a Nike 45.5" to be the same length as a Titleist 45" is if Nike measures their drivers completely incorrectly.
