Taylormade TP line

I think TaylorMade would be on to a winner if they released a tour preferred line of putters like the old Kia Ma & JDM range...

I hope that people stop asking for the TP logo to be on the next run of TM clubs... Want the logo, go buy a 'vette
Oh boy do I have a simple solution: If TMAG puts the logo on the next run, people will stop asking for it! Problem solved!

Also, TP does not equal "Tour Preferred" anymore I don't think. TMAG markets things as "TP" when they have the logo. Riught now the only thing with the logo is the TP shafts. Tour Preferred is the "watered down", clunky, ugly step-sister of the glory that was "TP"!
People just like to complain. It's white, bring back black. Did those guys go buy R1 black drivers? Probably not. It doesn't have the TP logo on the SLDR head. Does that affect performance? No. People spend just as much money on upgrading cell phones every year or so as new drivers. I find it so funny that many people bash TaylorMade or other companies for release cycles when many other aspects of their daily technology life are the same. Complainers should go post on the complainer site (yelp) and leave the positive comments here.

That said TP is the same as tour preferred. It was a logo that was created to be able to place on different parts of club and shaft. Tour preferred is just to big for some parts of the club. Although would love to see a shaft similar to the fujikura pro with the tour preferred name spiraled down the shaft!!

New Bag in the making...

You can keep the friggen logo....how about offering a real tour preferred line...make a std generic line ( like one that exists) than make another line with quality forging, excellent craftsmanship, high grade satin finish and maybe slightly smaller heads or something, maybe offer any shaft or put a really nice stock one in there..charge an extra few bucks and throw a TP logo on it....

Line that currently exists is just a std generic low cost mass produced version.....There is nothing TP about it

I gamed 2014 mc and currently using 2014 cb...they aren't bad sticks but there is nothing about them that screams quality or do they have a shining trait to them.....just very basic generic irons....they are really forgiving though I give em that....but feel wise and looks wise...they are way way behind imo

Why on earth are you playing them then?

They are not the same because TMAG makes a conscious differentiation between things labeled TP and tour preferred. If the driver shafts were called tour preferred, you'd see them referred to as that on the website, where there are no space constraints. But they are only ever referred to as TP with the awesome logo, whereas the tour preferred irons are never called TP, only tour preferred. Anyway, I dunno where the all the other comments about tmag came from, I'm just someone who loves that logo and what TP used to stand for with the cool players drivers heads. It's not hate at all, the tp logo is just sweet and lots of people like it.

Speaking of the old "Kia Ma" putters, it looks like Fairway Golf finally put their stock of very limited Kia Ma putters up on their website. Some very cool putters there!

Those were the good old days! I had a Daytona model in this series and regret selling it to this day.

Ha! I had the Monaco in black oxide...one of the best putters every made! I traded it for a shaft that didn't work for me, how's that for a crap deal!

I actually think the tp logo is sweet looking. The new TM tp MB's are beautiful IMO. The only thing that's missing is a tp logo. From address though and just general looks, there is nothing better looking IMO. The only thing I hate about TM is that their products have very little resale value. It doesn't really bother me that much though because I usually never sell anything even if I stop using said product. I'm just a club ho I guess. I have 4 bags stuffed full of iron sets, wedges, putters and woods.

I would love to see the TP badge back again, but I'd also love a forged iron with the speed slot even more... U know they are on here and I bet if we ask nicely we could get both! I'll start:

TaylorMade,

Please make a TP iron forged throughout the set with a TP badge. I totally said please which makes it nice and you must obey.

Thanks,

I contacted a few "sticker" companies online about making badges with 3M sticky tape you could just put on yourself. It came to less than $1 per sticker if you bought 500 of them. They would have a metallic like base with a printed sticker anda clear-coat polyeurethane cover. I figured if you really wanted them, they wouldn't really add any discernible weight to the club it would be just for show, you could just add them on yourself.

Since I think I'm going back to my 588MB's after the Tour Preferred MC/MB combo's didn't really pan out like I wanted them to, I kidn of dropped the idea.

I like the badge for several reasons:

1. I had (and still have, although retired) a set of "TP" coin forged RACs from 04-06 that I made my first hole in one with, and will never ever get rid of for that reason. Also, to this day, they are about the "softest", "sweetest", "butteryest", whatever you want to call it feeling set of irons I have EVER hit, and I've hit quite a few!

2. They sold a black hat with nothing but Taylormade on the back and the Badge on the front a few years ago. Now this wasn't even a fitted hat, it had the adjustable strap in the back. For some reason, and I don't know why, I was able to buy these at Golf Galaxy for $28 and then sell them on eBay for $60-$70. No lie! I shipped them in Priority Flat Rate Boxes for $5, and this was before eBay added shipping charges to their final value fee, so I was clearing $27-$37 dollars/hat, and sold as many of them as I could find @ GG.

Now I wouldn't base my club buying on whether or not it had the badge (I'm playing a set of RBldZ Tours and a SLDR right now), but if they were the same quality of those coin forged RACs, they would most certainly get my attention above anything else. Also, I wouldn't want to see them them through the badge on a rushed, inferior product.

I was asked to discuss this here. Not sure why it's not worthy of its own thread considering people wouldn't have to go to the second page before they get any real information, but here it is again.

There is a new TM TP line coming called the RS series. A friend of mine hit them today. I'll know more later.

3 new irons. High handicap, mid handicap, and low handicap. Trying to simplify the lineup and move away from rapid releases. I probably shouldn't say any more either. Not sure if it is meant to be public info. October release. I don't think this surprises anyone, it was about time for them to release something. No new woods till Spring.

No, but it will have to be pretty soon. Release date is a month from today.
