I think I remember reading a few of you using or trying the speed sticks. Curious if you saw any gains through this?

I used them for a while last winter, but got away from them. I feel like I got faster with my wedges and shorter clubs and have maintained that speed, despite not doing the program for about a year now. It's the main reason I've scheduled a session to re-check my wedge distances.

3 jack, if your done with them let me know and I will buy them from you. Otherwise going to pick up a set soon.

So I am looking to join a club or get some kind of membership going and would like some recommendations.

Last year, I had a players pass at Woodlands of Van Buren. It's now officially a garbage dump. Here are the details:

$35 per month:

-50% off food

-18 holes, riding, and a beer was $13 after 12 PM

-Unlimited range balls

Is there anything similar in the area Metro Detroit area?

I'm planning to go back to using them -- I got derailed by a bunch of travel around this time last year, and never got back to it. I actually have a stretch of about 6 weeks without plans to go anywhere, and once I get over this cold that's been kicking my a**, I'm going to start up the program again, along with the workout plan that I started recently.

What ya been doing? I’ve been doing starting strength and results have been good, it’s just squats, deadlift, and alternating bench and overhead press 3x a week. I’ve added 30+ pounds to all of the lifts in a month.

I put together a pretty simple thing with 3 different dumbbell workouts (all of them full body workouts -- sounds like similar stuff to what you're doing, just with dumbbells instead of with a bar), and 3 different core workouts. I had been doing them for about 2 weeks, then went to L.A., and got sick, and now I probably need basically start over again. I'm thinking that I'll do the SS program beforehand, and altogether, it'll be about an hour-long workout the days that I do SS, and 45 minutes on the SS off-days.

I believe in the SS thread a number of people said your better off working out first so that's what I've been doing. Need to rest as well, should take you longer to do SS. I've just stuck with the intro so without the kneeling swings to save time.

Hmm, it seems to me that doing the SS first would be better for getting your body to swing at its maximum speed, which is what I always thought was the idea behind the program. For me, I'm not great about stretching before working out with weights, but I do need to stretch to be able to go all out, making a golf swing. I'd also worry that my swing technique would suffer if I did the speed training after doing a full workout. Either way, I have to believe that doing both things will be more productive than just riding an exercise bike like I had been doing.

Picked up the orange whip as a stretch and pre round swing along with swing speed practice to help with timing.

I know I'm a little slower SS than a few of you but I found a reprieve to my neck and back pain, a cervical pillow. 1st time in years i woke up and didn't hurt. Needless to say I hit balls and played indoor golf this am at X- golf. Something clicked again and saw a bump in ball speed. Was getting 150 ball speeds with my fairway wood. This was both off the tee and the deck. I don't have my driver so hit 3 woods all day. So excited for this year.

We are getting old B! I can tell you that swinging without shoulder pain is great. When you are hurting, you are tentative. No pain and you can go full speed with confidence.

Learning to appreciate the course conditioning you have in MI. Courses down here in TX just don’t compare. I need to get out to a few of the super high end tracks to see how they are, but so far, I’m not impressed with the collection of public and private courses within 20-30 minutes from me. That said, putting is a whole heck of a lot easier...I don’t seem to get fooled as much here. It takes effort to 3-putt.

On an unrelated note, I saw an Orizaba Basackwards putter in the wild today during my round. I had to do a double take when my playing partner busted it out. It didn’t help, FWIW.

Had a few garage sessions and 1 dome session with the OG Epic SZ paired with the Atmos TS Black and it feels more stable compared to my current gamer and feels faster off the face. Taking both to Florida in a week and a half to see results outside. I wish we had a place with Trackman closer to me. If I don’t see any results, I might try the G with Atmos shaft.

Agree with you.

If you work out (or even if you don't), stretching afterwards, or at the very least stretching every night before bed is huge. I found that when I was lifting 4-5 times a week, it began to hinder my range of motion and my swing began to feel clunky even with a lot of stretching.

My love affair with Michigan golf continues (I am in Cincinnati). Have made several trips in the last few years and last year we hit Forest Dunes, The loop, Arcadia and Eagle Eye. This year we are taking our summer vacation up by sleeping bear dunes (love that part of the state) and will play with my brother in law at Manitou Passage and Bahle farms. A couple weeks later we are taking our annual guys trip and going to try out Glendarrin Hills (Norhtern Indiana), Island Hills, Pilgrims Run and Stoatin Brae.
