I hack em at ROGC at Coolidge / 13 mile for a quick 9 during the week. It's easy to walk and fairly open. Quick to get to and easy to get on during twilight. It's not optimal, but if I don't have the time, it's an option. Rackham is always there next to the zoo. You also have Sylvan Glen up Rochester Rd. in Troy.

 

Last summer, Costco sold 2 rounds with cart for $40 at the Links at Crystal Lake in Pontiac. It's a short track at ~5,600 from the tips, but it's surprisingly well maintained for a muni. I must've played 20% of my rounds there last year.

 

Plum Brook and Rammler are on the east side down Big Beaver and about 25 minutes away.

I couldn't find anything in January either. February had a couple warm weekend days but the ground was so wet not too many opened.

I know its not golf related but one of my favorite signs&sounds of spring showed up today.

have red winged blackbirds at the feeder,hopefully a sign of things to come!

I got a round in at Sylvan Glen on Saturday Feb 9. All flagsticks were frozen into cups, ground was 90% clear of snow and ice (though frozen solid), but it was sunny and not too windy-streak alive at 48 months.

I had to go down to Ottawa Township at exit 5 off 23 to walk on Saturday the 23rd. There were no pins as all the cups were full of ice.

I visited the Forest Akers range today and they have a bunch of Top Tracer stalls. Not a great launch monitor, but decent. I wish it had Spin Numbers. 2017 Epic SZ was not great. Ping G still in bag.

If your going to the show. The Rocket Mortgage Classic team will be there. They still need volunteers, and the cost is reasonable compared to other PGA events. There may be a few opportunities to marshal if you ask. Most holes were assigned to clubs. But the clubs may not have filled the spots.

It’s a lot different watching on TV compared to in person. For anyone who has never been to a Tour event in person, I’d highly recommend going. It’s a lot of fun to watch those guys hit the ball and to see how they go about things. Their touch around the greens is really impressive.

 

That said, I’m probably going to be out of town, so I won’t be going.

Looking for some help on reshafting irons. Already have the set of shafts (new) and talked with MoG but they were quoting 60/iron even though I have the shafts. Looking for any other suggestions on places I can trust for reasonable price.

I snapped my 7-iron shaft and had it replaced at Carl’s. I want to say I paid around $60 but that included the shaft and grip. It was an inexpensive shaft and grip, so I think I paid $25-$30 in labor?

Golftech in Novi. They do good work and are reasonable. Good people too.
