Sold a putter on BST, funds resided in Pay Pal account less than half an hour. Yep, it's a sickness.

What'd you get?

I'm looking at a 4 club set from National with 4 different muscle/COG shapes. Would end up a 9 club carry set with driver/hybrid/52/60/putter.

Boring purchase, Galway Bay unlined rain pants.

Nice. I took the advice in the rain pant thread and ordered some proquip stuff, hopefully it’s good.

Yeah, I think it's good. Hands down better than any of the Footjoy I've ever had. Only ordered the Galway to have options in Ireland this June.

I learned on the last tee at Bandon Trails the value of a good pair of rain pants. The ones I had tried valiantly, but completely gave up under the assault of driving rain and 50 mph winds. When I was doing research for a new rain suit, I was between Galvin Green, Proquip, and Galway Bay. I found a good deal on a Galvin Green one, and ended up going with that, but the reviews were good for all three brands.

Summer golf trip itinerary and looking for help, group coming from Indianapolis.

Best courses to play in the area other than Harbor Shores, Point O Woods, Lost Dunes???? don't want to travel north of Harbor Shores unless Hawk's head is superior to others in northern Indiana or Southern Michigan.

The Warren Course at Notre Dame if it’s open to play. Hosting the US Sr. Open

DaddyCaddieIU - - I would not put Hawkshead on a 'must play' list for SW Mich.

I see they have some info on the GAM website about tournament venues for this year:

Michigan Am - Oakland Hills (North Course)

GAM Championship - Muskegon CC

Mid Am - Boyne Highlands (as usual, and stil on Wednesday/Thursday like last year)

4-Ball - Travis Pointe CC

Senior/Mid-Am Team - Flint CC, Oakland U (Sharf), TPC Dearborn

I've never played Travis Pointe before and I can't say I've really heard much about it. Anyone who has played it have any thoughts?

I usually only try to qualify for either the Michigan Am or the GAM Championship. Given the sites and dates this year, it'll probably be the Am. They're doing qualifiers at Washtenaw and Salem Hills for the Am, which are both courses that I know well.

Picked up the new #3 Apex hybrid with stock 80 gram Catalyst shaft, Mizuno MP MMC Fli 4, Mizuno 5-PW SC with C-taper Lite 115. I did place an order for the S18 wedges as well last night but after reading more about it, I may go a different direction or try and get the T7 model. I'm not sure now if its even available. I've been hitting quite a few balls over the past couple months at the range and have really worked on my weight shaft and balance of my swing. I'm hitting everything way more solid and have gained enough swing speed to jump to a softer X flex. Really looking forward to the new season. I'm going to wait another month to get the driver, fairway wood fitting.

I want to add the new Apex hybrid is phenomenal. The last Cally hybrid I liked was the XR Pro and this new #3 Apex hybrid flew higher and further than my old 18 degree. The stock catalyst 80 gram shaft felt very stable in this head and the grouping was so solid, there wasn't a reason to order custom with it.

Looking for a little trip advice.

Northern Michigan has always been one my favorite destinations, but due to busy summers my groups yearly golf trip has been in the spring for the past 4-5 years, which obviously makes Michigan less than ideal. However, this summer we are going to be getting back up north. Here is the potential itinerary:

Trip Dates- Sunday July 7th- Thursday the 11th

Sunday- Black Lake (twilight)

Monday- 18 @ Cedar River and 18 @ Hawks Eye

Tuesday- 36 @ Treetops (not sure on courses yet, will need to research some more)

Wednesday- 36 @ Forest Dunes (FD and The Loop)

Thursday- 36@ Arcadia Bluffs (AB and The South Course)

Our group does not mind the "windshield" time, as we are more concerned with playing as nice of courses as we can, within reason price wise.

So just a couple questions:

1- Have any of the courses mentioned gone downhill in the last 4-5 years and should be subbed out?

2- Does anyone have strong recommendations as to which 2 courses to play at TreeTops?

3- The last time I was at Forest Dunes and Arcadia Bluffs neither had 36 holes yet. I would imagine that both the new courses added are worth a play, is that correct?

4- Are there any glaring omissions, course wise, that I have missed and we would be near on any given day?

5- I recall years ago that there were a couple websites that often had "coupons/vouchers" for some of these courses,teetimes4turf auction and possibly another, can someone please refresh my memory on that?

As always thank you for any help that you can provide. The amount of knowledge in this thread is clearly second to none and hopefully I have not hijacked it in any way.

Thank you

I don’t get up north that often so I’ll leave course condition stuff to other guys.

I do know both courses at FD and Arcadia are worth playing, especially considering your already on site.

Have any of your guys played Kingsley? If not the first thing I would do is figure out if you can get out there and everyone is ok with the price and swap something out for 36 there. They usually do decent pricing for replays so it shouldn’t be too bad for a 36 hole day.

A number of the people in my group have played Kingsley at least once and some have played it multiple times (Big thank you to OW for that).

I will have to inquire as to how I could get on there again. I am a member of a club here in Ohio so that could potentially be an option, but not sure. Everyone in our group absolutely loves Kingsley and would love to add it to the rotation; just have to find a way to. Possibly, we would then eliminate the 36 at Tree Tops and slot Kingsley on the day in between Forest Dunes and Arcadia.

My AZ golf trip was awesome...went way too fast, drank way too much. If you guys are out that way I highly recommend the Melvin 2x4 DIPA.

Flying back out Monday for work and I have a Friday tee time at Wickenburg Ranch and still deciding where to play Saturday morning before heading to the Waste Management. We're considering Sunridge Canyon so we can visit MannKrafted afterwards.

Lamont has been following us on Instagram and we've been chatting a bit. For being such a high end maker, he's commented on our stuff in a very positive and non-condescending manner. He even extended an informal invitation the next time we're out that way...super cool! Based on his last message he made it sound like he avoids the whole scene that weekend because of the madness, so we'll see if it works out or not.

New Ping G410 looks nice. I might pick one up. Or I might get a 400 lst off BST and pair with a Tensi Orange Pro.

When Ping was at Miles last year I compared my M1 with a 8.5 LST with a 60x Pro blue and the consistency was eye opening. Ended up grabbing this set up last week.

If anyone is considering volunteering at the Rocket Mortgage this summer email them. The website opens to apply on Tuesday Jan 29 but you need a username and password supplied by them.

I don't know if this is the norm for golf tournaments but I've never paid to volunteer. I read through the FAQ and they're changing $75 and you have to commit to working 2-3 shifts between Monday and Sunday.
