All Things Michigan Golf....the Mulligan (MOD EDIT: NO POLITICS, NO COVID-19, NO ECONOMICS)

Hey Swiz you go to Florida yet? Saw your post in the Florida group and wondered where you ended up playing.(or intending to play) I'm heading to Delray in 3 weeks and I've got 1 round booked at Seagate and I'm looking for someplace else nearby.

Leave tomorrow morning. Playing a couple private courses, Parkland and Mizner which we’re both highly recommended and seemed easy enough to get on. Mizner especially looks good, tried Broken Sound but they had the lpga event last week and were a no go.

The two Public’s I found were Osprey Point and Atlantic National, one we couldn’t get a tee time at so we’re playing Delray Beach golf club so that we have a day with no driving. That’s Wed-Sat, not sure where we’re playing Sunday yet.

Option 2. I haven’t played the loop either but the wolverine is nothing special and I don’t care for the design of quite a few of the holes on the bear.

Option #1. Agreed, Wolverine is nothing special, but it's a good track. Softer than the other 3, thus a good starter to a trip. The Bear doesn't get near the love it deserves. This is a really good golf course, good enough to host the Michigan Open something like 10 years running. If you can score here, you can golf your ball. Forest Dunes, nuff said in this thread, top 5 in the state. Loop, boring, way overrated.

I'd pick #1 just bc TC has so much more around it and FD is in the middle of nowhere. Lots of dinner options, casino, shopping, breweries etc...

We just got our first official order! 70 polos/jackets going out to bogeybox. I might just have to celebrate tonight

Any pictures of the gear?

Here are a couple photos but might be easier to just visit the site at www.benjamindavidgolf.com to see everything. The apparel is very high end. We were able to get into the same factory as FJ and Sligo. We'll be officially launching in Mid March. Stay tuned for a WRX discount code!

What would you consider to be a hybrid jacket?

We currently offer two different 1/4 zip jackets, one in light grey (pictured above) and one in dark grey. We will offer some additional styles/colors in the fall as we didn't want to get too crazy with seasonal items since the selling season is pretty short.

So I'm in talks with shortpar4.com and they invited me to come down to Florida and hang out with them at the web.com event they're sponsoring this weekend. Well it just so happens I will be in Florida this weekend (leaving this afternoon), but my wife put the kabash on it because this is a family trip. I'm so bummed! It would have been a great opportunity. Oh well, at least I will get to play some golf instead.

This is a great idea. I'm seeing these everywhere lately. We'll have to scheme something up for the fall.

Please keep me posted, I would totally be interested in one. Good luck!!

I think I remember reading a few of you using or trying the speed sticks. Curious if you saw any gains through this?

When I was dedicated to it last year, I saw 3 - 4 MPH increase. I did not use them as much through the season except for warming up and I think by end of the year, it had come back down.

Just starting to use them again now that my shoulder is all better.

I was using them this time last year but got interrupted by work travel, then I lent them to my dad. I need to get them back and do some training prior to the season starting. I like the concept and see alot of pros using them so I think there's something to it, I think you just need to commit to the program.

My ball speed is up to 162+ from a tops of 155, been lifting a lot too though. In the SS thread there’s a comparison of Phil from the last 3 years, he’s way faster.

We did the west coast thing 2 years ago, coming from mostly central Michigan or Detroit. Thursday PM we did Eagle eye as a central starting point, Friday we played Hawkshead and Beeches. Saturday was 36 at HS, and Sunday we did 18 at Stoatin Brae.

We have some cheap guys in our group so 36 at Harbor Shores cost more than we wanted, north of $150 total in late September. Stoatin Brae was a steal given it was new but 3/4 of our guys hated it. The Friday rounds were fun, mostly because we could get our drink on and not worry about blowing it on a course we paid a lot to play.

There's a thread somewhere on here where I asked for advice. Knickerbocker and others gave some great tips.

Can you expand a little on Stoatin Brae? I'm planning a golf trip in SW MI for 8 guys this fall, and our starting point will be Stoatin Brae

edit - sorry just saw there is an entire thread dedicated to this course

I played Stoatin Brae last year as the rates have dropped by quite abit since opening. The greens were still very firm but fair and the course was a really challenging fun layout.

The halfway house is built into the side of a hill and is a pretty cool place to grab a snack or beverage during your round.

I think the course will only get better as it ages and is a truly unique offering in Michigan.

You should definitely give it a try! Beware there is no driving range at the course so you will need to warmup at one of the other GL courses before heading to SB.

I used them for a while last winter, but got away from them. I feel like I got faster with my wedges and shorter clubs and have maintained that speed, despite not doing the program for about a year now. It's the main reason I've scheduled a session to re-check my wedge distances.

I found my swing speed radar finally and I find that it is really helpful when using these because it gives you something to aim for and helps see progress.

Just to give you some short term results from tonight.

I warmed up full and hit a few drivers. Then I measured a few swings and was between 98-100 on five swings. I did the speed stick level 1 routine and then hit five drivers again and I was at 102-103 for five swings.

Looking forward to seeing the long-term results of using them 3x a week.
