GAAWWWHHH!!! I really don't like you people sometimes. I had a great set of j38 DPCs. Loved em. Just bought some 714 AP2s 2 months ago. Love em. Now I'm drooling over clubs I can't even see yet. I'm not convinced that ANY driver out there will make me longer or more consistent (again, I know... Indian, not arrow). However, I'm intrigued by the hybrids and irons. 6 yds longer on the hybrids? Did I see that on a slide?

Can you compare the VPC to the j40 DPCs? Topline, forgiveness, feel?

No..

Vapor Pro is most similar to Covert 2.0 but better in every aspect. Not sure I'd compare it to the SLDR 460 as much since the 460 will be lower launching and spinning by a hair.

Flex is not like the 430 at all.. the Flex Flight system, to me, is pretty much a game changer. I will expand much more in my review, but I feel like the Flex offers a few things in one driver that I have yet to see on the market. Not only will the Flex Flight adjust the spin and launch of the ball in the same loft setting, but changing the CG placement affected my ability to turn the club over. I was shocked at the amount of options I had to really dial this thing in. My initial thoughts are that the Flex is more forgiving than the 430, and right there with the 460, I want to say maybe more.. but I need more time on the course to really confirm that statement.

Scott or Tai, opinion on Speed 3iron...PC 4-9...Vapor Blade PW?
I like the Speed 3 iron, you might be able to get away with the blades more than you think. They are more forgiving than most blades I have hit. Maybe 8-P Pro, 7-4 PC, Speed 3. My set is going to look a bit different due to the options/characteristics of the new line and I feel playability of all 3 lines has been improved.

So what was the best single line, drivers, woods or irons and what was the least impressive?
I feel like it was a pretty strong improvement across the entire line, I was impressed by everything.. honestly. If I had to pick a least, it would be the hybrids and fairways, we didn't spend too much time on those, or at least I didn't. I think the hybrids are still a work in progress, however they did some progressive face/GC improvements for lower launch/spin on the longer hybrids, and higher launch more control on the shorter.

I was impressed by every line, the Speed 3 iron was something that sticks out in my mind.. and the Flex, whoa. :shok: I can't wait till my set comes so I can really give a thorough review on this stuff. This is a MUCH stronger offering than last year's Oven bag, it's not even close.. especially with the Engage wedges around the corner.

Irons and one Driver set? Nice.

I can give you a review on the Vapor Pro right now, the 3 and 4 iron are tiny. That is all.

I'm glad to hear what your saying about the VPC's @scottvw13.

Still fighting myself between my 2011 PC vs CF. It's like they get rotated weekly in and out of the bag.

CF are way easier to hit yet I seem to play much better golf with the PC's. It's painful.

Really looking forward to hitting the new irons, both the VP and VPC, and if they look as good at address and play as good as you say then I know what will be happening.

Thanks.
If the original PC's and CF had a baby, it would be the VPC.

Just sell them both and preorder the VPC. Trust me.

i have the 2011 pro combo set (pw-8 blade, 7-5 mb, 4 pocket cavity all with px 5.5) and and a vrs forged 3 iron with a aerotech steelfibre shaft.

how would the new vapor pro combo compare to my current set? i wasn't thinking about buying new irons since my set was really good to me, but the feedback here on those irons were all more than pretty good

Cool little story today.

Another top 5 player at my club who played MP30 until this year when he went 714 AP2 asked to hit my VPC irons.

He was so enamored with them that he ordered a set on the spot. That after playing just two other sets in 7 years.

They are that good.

That is awesome! Great round... :). Your toe sweep wedge is incredible. Very similar if not spot on to what will be on the ENGAGE.

They talked in detail about their new commitment to overall assessment top to bottom in different levels - not limited to fitting. Some of the facilities will be more elaborate and be a full performance center with physical assessment as well. Some very cool things around the corner that will the golfer to have a full experience. The video they showed on the European Centre was amazing.

The OG VR Pro Combo irons (and VR Pro blades for that matter) had a very distinct Endo forged feel. DO the Vapor PC/Blades still have that characteristic?

Not at clicky as Titleist but not as soft as Mizuno - a very quality forging in my mind. They felt great. Very dense and the sound they made in your carry bag as you walk was very distinct - the clacking together was musical.
Replying to my own post - I see that Tai answered my question about a page prior - duh - hard to keep up with these posts. Every time I come on here there are two more pages of posts.

As much as I'd like to bag the PC's, I might have to do the vapor pro blades. They look too good and having a feel like the VR Pro blades...wow. Maybe stick a PC in the 5/4 irons.

Thanks bud. I haven't been this excited over a piece of new equipment in a long time. the driver is great but the irons are GAME CHANGERS for me. It is as if Nike let me design them from scratch to what fits my game.

The toe sweep is my pride and joy, as you very well know! Mike T took really good care of me...as always...

I won't have my driver for another four weeks. Remember - TIGER and RORY haven't even hit the FLEX yet! NIKE is shipping my irons and hey should be here by the end of the week. Right now I have the PRO COMBOS - but expect me to make a change to the PRO model in 2015 up to the 6 iron. The 5 and 4 will stay COMBO and the 3 will go SPEED. The irons are so interchangeable. For 100% certain ALL of the equipment will be going straight into the bag.

As I'm sure you know, the VRS Forged and CF are nearly identical. The CF are slightly more visually appealing than the VRS.

The one thing I never liked as a low handicap was that with so much weight low and the wide sole, it was really hard to keep the ball down when I needed to. It could be done, but never felt natural. The VPC has fixed this issue completely, while launching as high and long as the CF and VRS.

What I have also gained is a better sense of where the clubface is at impact. I'll reach deeper into that in my review.

Sorry.....should have put in the caveat that I've owned both SLDR's as have you.....should be more like is the Flex to the pro = as the 460 is to the 430?

Man i thought I was set on the RSi TPs, but from what I've seen here I think I start to like the VPCs more and more.

I'd be willing to but the RSI TP up against the VPC and do an honest review. I simply cannot imagine any iron in this category (Players GI) can come close to the combination of Feel, forgiveness, look at address, workability, and distance that the VPC offers.

    • Titleist GT drivers - 2024 the Memorial Tournament
Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
