Also new to the forum. A lot of talk about simulators here. I also live about 2mi from Backspin in Ankeny so I go there a bunch. Agree on their sims being out of whack. The far corner slot is about the only accurate one I've found that lines up with my historical GC2 data from Golf Galaxy/Dick's Sporting Goods. All the other bays I'm only getting about 240yd drives out of 110SS and 155MPH ball speeds. So I just decided to fix the problem and getting my own GC2.

Broheim's Bar looks awesome. Anyone go there yet? The aBoutGolf sims are definitely next level. Played one up in MN on their widescreen bay....phenomenal.

Small world. Really want to try broheims too. Looks sweet.

Dude, what is wrong with Toad? I have fun rolling it a few times a year. My season pass is at Terrace, same type of track. Those 2 are tough to beat for the value, right at $900 for a season pass. I like to get out an play Otter, TCI, Legacy and some others, but rates for passes are 2-3 times as much, and a farther commute for me.

I enjoy Toad, but it gets rough at times, and I've had guests yap about the lack of bunkers. I'm honest about it's limitations, but it's golf home to me. The people who run it are awesome and treat us like family. I enjoy hitting Terrace a couple times a year - always expect to tear it up and be disappointed by my score at the end because I forget about some of the nuisances.

They are what they are, Iowa Municipal's. Same for us at Terrace, have first off every Sat-Sun all summer.

Terrace is short, but there are some narrow chutes off the tee, and I would rather be in the sand than those nasty green side grass bunkers. They are almost a penalty stroke.

Fun, affordable golf with good people, all I need.

Anyone who has not played Waveland in the last year or so, you need to get out and see the changes they have made. Going to join the DSM City Courses this year. $800 for Mon-Fri and Weekend afternoons. no brainer.

Dam really. Didn't know that. Message me on here or fb if you ever want to play.

Don't know if anyone has an idea on courses around the metro, when I lived in Northwest Iowa there were tournaments at courses all year round, 2 man's, 4 man's, ryder cups, etc all the time and it seems like the courses around the metro either have them early in the year or late. Anyone know any courses around with tournys? I know Legacy has a couple.

I'm used to live in NW Iowa as well. Spencer to be exact and still go back often as my family still live there. Yeah, it seems like there were tournaments all over up there. I play in the Emerald hills 2-man every year as well as the Northwest Am in Spencer there. Great course. Down here, I know Woodland Hills has a bunch but the course is definitely not real good. Beaver Creek has a few and TCI as well. There's hardly any 2-mans though.

NW Iowan myself. Lot of great tourneys up there. I'll add that Copper Creek in Pleasant Hill and Jester Park have a few tourneys every year. Honey Creek in Boone does as well.

I love honey creek, the back 9 is amazing.

Waveland was in good shape last year. They have done a tremendous amount of changes on #3 to bring that fairway back to life. I can only think of a couple tee boxes with rough patches but overall great condition/quality for a muni.

I played Blank for the first time this year and really enjoyed that course.

Aside from the pace of play issues that one will run into at Waveland and Blank, the city pass is a fantastic deal.

I'm from Storm Lake, remember playing Spencer Muni in high school, had 2 runners-up there, also remember at sectionals there we had played after a major storm (in fact it was hailing during our practice round), there was so much water on the course that we were able to pick clean and place ANYWHERE as long as it was drier, even if it was moving ball from rough to fairway etc... ended up finishing 3rd that day.

They currently have a deal going on Groupon. $25 for 18 and half a cart.

Picked up that Groupon and one for the other Boone course

Played the Front Nine at Waveland last evening. They have continued to do a ton of work to that course over the winter clearing out a bunch of the old trees between 1,2,3,and 7 and looks really good!

Shot 43, not bad for the first round of the year. 5 bogeys, 1 Double, 2 tap in pars. Not bad with trying to get used to new Driver, Irons, and Putter.

Played 11 holes at Waveland last night, they are mowing greens and tee boxes, but still a little wet to mow fairways and rough to often, Course still in great shape.

Shot 43 on the front with a double and 5 bogeys. Bogey on 10 and par on 11, started to play 12, on 3rd shot (upslope) took a divot that was a little too deep and screwed up my wrist. Hopefully just a bruise, and I can be back to playing by Monday.

Also ordered some Under Armour Tour Tips Boa shoes that I'm excited about trying when they come in.
