Played 11 holes at Waveland last night, they are mowing greens and tee boxes, but still a little wet to mow fairways and rough to often, Course still in great shape.

Shot 43 on the front with a double and 5 bogeys. Bogey on 10 and par on 11, started to play 12, on 3rd shot (upslope) took a divot that was a little too deep and screwed up my wrist. Hopefully just a bruise, and I can be back to playing by Monday.

Also ordered some Under Armour Tour Tips Boa shoes that I'm excited about trying when they come in.

Nice. Otter was looking pretty green yesterday, came wait to play it Saturday. I really want some adidas boost boa, lmk how you like the boa system.

This will be my 3rd BOA set, have had Adidas boa's, Footjoy Hyperflex boa's, and now these. Honestly after having boa's I have no idea why people buy any other type of shoes. So nice for taking on and off and as the round goes on you can just tighten them a click instead of having to re-lace.

That is one course in the Des Moines area I have not played. Played pretty much everything else (Legacy, Warrior, Otter, Briarwood, Woodland, Beaver, Perry GCC, Huxley GCC, Coldwater, Jester, TCI, Beaver, Copper, Toad, Terrace, Blank, Grand View, Willow, Cedar Pointe, Honey Creek). Harvester is another one I need to play darn it. Hope your wrist heals up fast!

Was also thinking about playing Otter Saturday. Might also make a trip up to Coldwater or over to Copper. Not sure yet.

Waveland or Harvester Top 3? Harvester I expect, Waveland being Top 3 would absolutely surprise me!

Waveland is all about condition ... right before the Men's City, they have it in fantastic shape and it's a bear. At other times, it get's kind of rough around the edges.

Waveland would be top 3 out of the courses he said he has played : (Legacy, Warrior, Otter, Briarwood, Woodland, Beaver, Perry GCC, Huxley GCC, Coldwater, Jester, TCI, Beaver, Copper, Toad, Terrace, Blank, Grand View, Willow, Cedar Pointe, Honey Creek) Maybe top 5,

I would say TCI, Briarwood, Coldwater, Honey Creek, and Waveland would be top 5

I love honey creek, played it for the first time last year. Back 9 was a beauty.

What I don't like about Honey Creek is, you feel like your killing time playing the front 9 just to get to the back 9.

There may not be a more accurate description, and I'll add that the front deceives you into thinking you are not too bad at golf. Then the back reminds you where you stand.

Where is coldwater?

Best courses for me:

Harvestor

Echo Valley

TCI

Otter Creek

Beaver Creek

Haven't played at Legacy or Honey Creek and the Des Moines Country Club was way over rated to me.

Coldwater is in Ames, right next to Jack Trice Stadium. It is a links style course. Can't believe you thought DMCC was overrated, I am fortunate enough to play their quite often and love how you are rewarded for hitting fairways but punished for hitting it into the rough. When was the last time you played it?

Yes Coldwater is in Ames and always in pristine condition. Wish I could play Echo Valley, looks amazing!

The old Echo layout is OK, the new 9 is superb ... but all 27 holes are always in fantastic shape. That's the big draw.

I don't know if I'd want to play Coldwater every day, but a few times a year it's a blast. Love getting away from trees and rolling hills a few times a year.

I play the south and west 9 early last year. Granted, they were tearing up the course for the Solheim Cup but I didn't think it was worth the $100 and the super expensive buy in to be a member when I could spend a whole lot less and golf TCI, Amana, Beaver, Otter, etc..

I agree that in a situation like a believe both of us are in, No its not worth the money to join, and it's not meant to be. They want the 1% of Des Moines residents with the dispensable income to belong there and take advantage of all their amenities, not just the golf. As for weather or not its worth $100 to play.... I would pay that every time to play there, but have also paid way more than that to play courses in Arizona, Vegas, etc....

It's not worth $100 and you like Otter and Beaver better? Boy tough crowd. BTW it costs more for a member to bring out a guest.

Are we just talking best DSM courses? Some good spots in Cedar Rapids and Davenport area I enjoy.

Just in the DSM area I'd probably say...

The Harvester, by a landslide

Agree with your list... Whats your favorite courses on the east side? The best I have played (very limited) was Spirit Hollow in Burlington.
