I grew up In Ankeny. If there is no wind, it is blowing 10mph at Otter, minimum.

 

Why is this? Place is like a wind tunnel.

Late to the party, but yes, Coldwater is in phenomenal shape. Can't say enough about their greens. Hidden treasure.

Teed off at 6:45 Sunday at Otter, was blowing 20-30, was rough. I did strike it pretty solid, was not really unhappy with 82 in those conditions.

 

I have 3 days of work left, then off for 10, time to play some golf, will be playing Coldwater, and maybe the Harvester while off.

We finally played Coldwater on Sunday. That is not a fun first time play in 20-30 mph winds, not knowing the course at all. We lost a few balls that were just striped, but ran through the firm/tight fairways in fescue areas.

 

We actually really enjoyed the layout, but is one you need to get familiar with, as there is a LOT of decision making off the tee. We played the white tees due to wind and first time out, but not sure that does not make some of it more difficult having to select irons/hybrids off the tee. I think I shot 85, but lost 4 balls, 3 of which were hit down the middle of the fairway.

 

We will definitely be going back, know I can shoot a cleaner score than that with a touch of course knowledge.

Threw down a little 57 in a 4 man yesterday (charity tournament) at Terrace Hills, picked up the 2nd win in 3 years.

 

I am not a huge fan of best shot's, but when you have a fun group, I don't mind them a few times a year, especially when it is for a good cause

I really think we should try and get a few group together somewhere and have a mini WRX outing.

I like best shot tourneys though not nearly as fun when you are the one carrying the team. I played Terrace Hills two fall's ago *correction* when I subbed in for the A-Heinze 57 shelter tourney. Won a 12 degree Callaway XR driver in senior flex on the long drive hole ? Luckily I was able to exchange at Golf Galaxy for credit.

 

I wouldn't be opposed to an outing here. Could be fun

We are playing Terrace @6:30 Saturday, then heading over to Bos Landen Sunday @ 7:30.

 

It would be cool to see if we can get maybe 3 foursomes for a little get together.

I always play Toad a few times a year. It really depends on the greens, last time I was there they were rolling pretty nice for a muni, but my uncle said they got a bit shaggy 2 weeks ago, hopefully they have them trimmed down. Never an issue to play Toad.

 

One of the guys in my groups despises Legacy, so we go rarely. TCI can be rough on some days. I have not played Bos in 15 years, interested to see it again Sunday.

 

Cold Water is a cool course, enjoyed my first time regardless of blustery winds. I also have not played River Valley in about 5 years or so, let us know how it looks.
