Sure this isn't the best place to post this, but I couldn't find an answer. DO the Vapor Flex fairway woods and Vapor Fly fairway have the same adapter?

They're different.

 

The drivers are the same except the weight.

Yeah, the Vapor Fly fairways use an adapter that is new for this year. I am assuming it would have been the new adapter for another couple of cycles. Because they are new (and discontinued) they are pretty hard to find if you need a new one.

I have a Diamana Blueboard from a Vapor Fly 3W in Xstiff. I am looking for stiff and have gotten a couple responses from my WTB post but so far they all have the wrong tip. They do appear hard to come by.

You may just have to get the tip from your Xstiff put on another shaft.

 

 

 

 

In other news: Rory did some talking today about his equipment plans going forward.

 

When asked about changes he made this week:

"I've made a change in putter, but I think that was inevitable after my performance at Baltusrol,"

 

And then when asked about his equipment plans in the future:

"No reason to start changing just because I can. I'm comfortable with everything. I've got them to save me a lot of three years' worth of golf balls, so at least I've got a golf ball that I like and that I know that I can play well with.I'm not going to commit to anything. I wouldn't be surprised to see me not go with manufacturer for a year or two, just sort of play with what I want to play, play with what I'm comfortable with, and go from there. I haven't been home, but apparently my parents' house has been inundated with golf equipment from different manufacturers. I haven't asked for it, but it's there."

 

He also said that he is using the Scotty Cameron mallet putter because it keeps the face open a bit more than the blade putter he'd been using. And that him using a Nike bag "wasn't part of the deal" with Nike all along, so TBD on what ends up on his bag going forward, but he didn't give any details there.

I do think it would be cool to see him win some tournaments still using his Nike equipment. I can only imagine what kind of goodies he has waiting for him that OEMs have sent to his house though. I wonder how much thought each company put into what they were going to send. Do they have access to his club specs? Did they put their heads on the same type of shafts that he currently uses? Does he currently have 10 different brand fairways wood heads all on P95X shafts waiting in a pile? I can only imagine.

Yes, you'd think the OEM's that have sent equipment for him to consider did their homework. Hopefully they obtained his build specs and Rory's like/dislikes when it comes to a driver, fairway, irons, and wedges.

 

I know the iron shafts that True Temper sent to Nike for use in Rory's clubs were both weight and frequency sorted to very tight tolerances. There was no randomness to builds for Rory and TW coming from The Oven.

Anyone know where you can get some touch up paint for the Covert 2.0 red? Been messing around with my swing recently, and just am not very good at all so put the worst idiot mark ever on the top of mine. I am embarrassed...

I'm going to assume you haven't spent much time in the Nike threads. MM Protos are the "prototype" irons that preceded the Vapor Pro and Vapor Pro Combos. There were a certain number (I'm sure others can tell you) made and sold to the public. They sold out quick. Many of the sets belong to WRXers.

I used red covert touch up paint from golfpaint.com. Pretty spot on. Still noticeble from close up but it is good enough for me. Also, red sharpie pen do some tricks. Good luck.

The hoarding is coming along nicely! Couple more 3w heads, a VFP 2i (or 3), and about 3 sets of engages and I'll be set for a looooooong time. Would hope to someday get my hands on some MM protos but I won't hold my breath. #teamnikeforever
