Tiger: "Bone kinda popped out..." ???

Odd that the club didn't bend.
The club did bend but Tiger bent it back correctly before putting it back in the bag - he did it so fast you couldn't see it, much like putting his bones back into place.

What a warrior and a true American hero.

I've not read nearly all posts in this thread. However, despite almost NEVER posting on this site, I stopped by and posted yesterday as I expected this discussion sooner.

As I posted in the other Tiger thread yesterday, it is IMPOSSIBLE that Tiger dislocated any bone in his wrist and continued to play, unless he was simultaneously taking massive pain medication.

For those of you comparing it to a dislocated finger, the injuries are not in the same stratosphere. I hope at some point Chamblee or anyone else with some stones calls him out. HE IS DELUSIONAL to make such a comment, or at minimum, inherently (and still) dishonest. Too bad someone didn't call him out yesterday. What a pitiful man he has become.
Well, I am a marine biologist so this is out of my domain of expertise since most I my patients do not have wrists.

However, he may have injured one or more of the many ligaments and tendons. A sprained and/or strained wrist. He hit something solid.

As a musculoskeletal radiologist you know that, based on what you witnessed, the above is very possible.

Right?
Except he didn't say he injured a ligament or tendon. He said a bone came out and he popped it back in.

Right?
Sorry, I got the sarcasm, my link was for the less well-informed.

Sprained ligament does not equal the bone popping out - not even close.

I agree with your posts - Tiger has zero clue what he's talking about. He throws around achillies injuries like they're no big deal.

This one got bent good. Would you do this? Not saying you would not. He does go after it. See Rose on Sunday near the tree, he held off.

i dont see how he could hit a root and a bone pop out. the more realistic thing to happen is he would have torn or stretched the ligaments in his thumb or wrist. oops my glutes just misfired!! lol.

In relation to Tiger, it seems like from here on out we're going to be on a neverending cycle of:

Tiger gets hurt, takes time off.
Comes back to a tournament, marignal success, fans say he needs more practice.
He takes time off, practices.
Enters an event, marginal success, fans say he needs more competitve events.
Then he goes on hiatus.
Enters tournament, marginal success, fans say he needs more practice.

Throw in another injury, then put it on rinse/repeat.

As impressed as I was with the state of his short game at the Masters, I was worried he was going to take time off, come back mid-May, and likely complain of rust.

Some of you people need help and that is coming from someone that doesn't even like Tiger.

My father played pro baseball back in the day. Early in his career he was hit on the end of his right pinkie of his throwing hand with a line drive. It drove the bone up towards his wrist. He said he squeezed it and it popped it back so he kept playing. (Men used to be men unlike some of the pansies here). The rest of his life he could pop it out. When we were kids we would ask him to do it because it made his pinkie lock up and get distorted. We would squeeze the pad of his hand and it would pop back in place and straighten out. It always made us laugh. He never complained of any pain. That is ten times worse than what Tiger described.

So yeah, impossible.

But did his glutes ever misfire during a big spot in the 9th inning?

You know who can bounce back from injury? That Lindsey Vonn.

As far as Tiger's hand or wrist or whatever? All I know is once I tried to blast a ball out of a buried bunker lie and there was a rock beneath it the size of a baseball. Stopped the club cold, made a horrible click, and dented my Vokey.

But I played on. With some wincing. That Vokey was pretty new.

You boys ragging on my boy Eldrick need to take it down a step.

I KNOW what he went through. Back in Desert Storm when I was a SEAL I ended up jumping out of the bird too high off the ground at about 150 feet but I did a roll when I hit the ground and popped out my shoulder. Two of my buddies pulled it back in for me and we were off.

Yesterday I parked a drive in the weeds and found it close to another tree but gouged out a 7-iron 205 to the center of the green. Boom went the shoulder when I hit that shot and apparently there was a root under the ball and this time I was alone in the trees. Not to worry, I took off my belt and tied it to the biggest tree on one end and then the other end to my arm. I took off running and when I came to the end of the belt........................ the bone and the joint popped back in. Next hole I launched a 5 wood 307 to the right center of the fairway and then hit a PW 170 to set up the bird.

Not that difficult if you are properly trained.......Simple.

When Tiger made this comment about popping a bone in wrist back into place, my first thought was it would rival the glutes comment as internet fodder. It is possible, I suppose, but he would have been so much better off if he just said "it really hurt for a minute, then not so much". With the unending meme of Tiger winning with a broken leg and a torn acl, I have the same question I had at the time. Why wasn't he in a brace? His doctor supposedly advised against playing, but did nothing to stabilize the joint? Can Tiger's camp not spell "malpractice"?

Watching yesterday I couldn't believe he said this. Seems he's always over dramatizing with body language and on-course theatrics, but this statement was even more over-the-top and silly than the "glutes not firing" comment. There's something strange about this kind of thing from Tiger... like he intentionally (yet unnecessarily) tries to hype his own tough guy image in line with the frequently mentioned and practically mythologized, "winning the US Open on a broken leg," etc. Ridiculous...

Of course Tiger will want all the attention. That's his obligation with his sponsors, exposure.
I think the ridiculous part is that you couldn't help yourself and had to start a thread about someone who clearly doesn't value your opinion.

It's hilarious of the irony that Tiger haters constantly calls him an attention whore, but they couldn't seem to keep their attention away from him LoLz.

I saw a Golfer who was apparently in pain, yes. I guess that means it just has to be true then, and the pain seen on the face of John Hurt in 'Alien' meant he really did have an alien popping out his chest?

Seriously though, you would very surprised what people with Munchausen syndrome can do. My sister suffered from it, and it was horrible and sad to see, until she finally died just over a year ago. Fact is, I'm sadly starting to see some parallels in Woods' behaviour both on and off the Course.

The fact is, that you believe with some others, that he was telling the truth (again) and many others don't. You won't convince those people they are wrong and they won't convince you, that they are right. So why are we all going around in circles??
Yep...Scary. These hate threads are really scary.
Now Woods has Munchausen Syndrome........
It's clearly escaped you but It's a forum for open and frank discussion of opinions. Whether you consider them right or wrong is irrelevant I'm afraid, but as I said, if you are finding it too much for your constitution, then I'm sure you can find something else to do less frightening for you?

You seem very defensive, to the point of argumentative with your posts. And yet you whine about the 'haters' on here? Maybe you are becoming exactly what you despise the most.

He really is a very strange individual. I wonder what kind of therapy he had after the sex scandal broke, because IMO the unique nature and sheer scale of his deception (for what seems like a sustained period of time) indicated some very serious compulsive or pathological behavioural issues that don't just go away. Usually these kind of things require very specialised and intensive therapy. So it wouldn't surprise me to see bizarre behaviour manifest itself in other aspects of his life.

The "Tiger hater" label is so old and tiresome it's become a lazily applied cliche' on this site. He's a public figure. He gets paid millions by his sponsors to project a certain image and to be in the spotlight. He's been coached on how to handle the media and how to portray the image his sponsors are paying for, yet he continually makes these gaffes. (I guarantee you Steiny and company winced when they heard him say his "bone popped out...")

When a public figure does or says strange or unusual things (especially on a regular basis) people are going to discuss it. That's what sports fans do. Ever watch ESPN...lol? The thing with Tiger is that he repeatedly does things and says things that seem inconsistent and unnecessary given his stature in the game.

He's one of, if not the best player ever. There's nothing that needs embellishment or fabrication, by him, or by the media, yet he continually plays for the dramatic... whether his bone popped out, his glutes didn't fire, his leg was broken, his back went out, or he does one of those super-exaggerated whirlybird finishes after a shot that to me look like he's playing it up big-time for the cameras. All totally unnecessary, but fascinating nonetheless to consider why he does these things.

And if any other top athlete in the limelight were to continually say and do goofy things, we'd be discussing it just the same...

Edit to add: I do not doubt that hitting the root (or whatever it was) hurt like hell and perhaps caused an injury. It was his statement in the interview with Bill Macatee that immediately struck me (and apparently quite a few others) as a somewhat outlandish, combined with the way he walked around after the shot with that entire side of his body hanging limp...lol!

I'm not in the position to judge another person without knowing the extent to his/her injury. Most of us watched it on TV, so there is no way to know one way or the other.

The dude was in pain, so something occurred. If it was the same situation but it happen to Spieth, Stricker, Zac Johnson, Phil, etc. would this thread exist?

Serious question, how does his ability on the golf course and past success give him a pass for this delusional crap he spews Is it not possible to admire his ability and be in awe of his dominance while acknowledging the dude makes a bunch of crazy, bizarre s*** up?

Well, if Tiger doesn't make it in his return to PGA competition, he could always turn to Professional Wrestling. He might have to bulk up a little, but special doctors could help with that. He already has the acting aspect of wrestling down pat, he just has to work on some of the moves. Maybe the hardest part would be picking a stage name for his wrestling career, hmmmm? how about "THE GREAT PRETENDER" !
