Halfsies. Noice.

I had a putting lesson with my buddy tonight. Great stuff. I was elated to find out my stroke was in need of some TLC.

As soon as I started hitting putts, he said he saw some things. Before getting into any of it, he fired up SAM Putt Lab so we could get a baseline. The biggest issues were that the putter was rising way too high on the way back, I was hitting down almost 2 degrees, and had too much face rotation through the ball. Nothing really extreme, but definitely enough to cause the inconsistency I've been having. He took some video after that, to show me why the numbers were what they were. Basically, I was swinging the putter head back with very little movement of the handle.

He got right to work, having me focus on feeling like I was keeping the putter head on the ground the whole way back. To feel like I was swinging the handle back as far as the putter head. He also had me move the ball up in the very front of my stance.

We kept getting back on SAM to check progress periodically as he had me working on stuff. The last time we got on it, I had gone from hitting almost 2 degrees down, with 1 degree forward lean, to 1 degree up, with zero lean. My path had improved noticeably. My face rotation through the ball had reduced, and I had the face less open at the start of the forward stroke. Beyond just that, I could feel a big difference. It felt like the ball was sticking to the club face when I hit it. The ball felt like it was rolling off the face so much quicker. Like I didn't have to hit it as hard to get it to roll out. I started making a lot more putts. When we did the baseline on SAM, I was 0/5 or 1/5 (the putt was like 12'ish feet). Missed the putts all over. Last couple times on, I was making 4/5.

Such a worthwhile experience. I wish I had done this a long time ago. I'm gonna get to work on this stroke, and be ready to whoop some Word not allowed come spring.

Got out for 9 holes of playctice midday today and am very happy with the results. No one really knows the layout of Chesapeake Hills so a hole by hole won't do any good, but I started with a par and ended with a par and had a few more in between. I tried to play it down where ever possible (first and last holes were entirely down) but I was out there to practice so if I hit the fairway I tried to replicate a fairway lie. It felt good to be out there pushing the clic and by the third hole I had to swap out the Mizuno WindLite for a lighter pullover.

My Takeways:

- The GBB is still Money even in early season cold and soggy weather

- I need to work on alignment (this was the biggest issue I had today)

- Putting was very strong even on the wet and bumpy greens

One thing I wasn't so happy to see is the changes to the course since last fall. There were a few large trees that were gone (not sure if nature took them out or if the course did) which made the holes a whole lot easier. Tee shots that used to require accuracy were now more of a free-for all. Also they changed a lot of the bunkers to make them smaller and shallower. In a few cases I can understand that they had washed out and when putting the new sand in they needed to reshape them but again it took away some of the defensive aspects of the holes. Didn't see the back 9 but I can only assume more of the same.

High hopes for low scores in 2017!

You know you are complaining about the corse improving conditions, right?

You being throwing back a few?

Does anyone do the raspberry falls trail deal? I just learned about it today. Basically play a round at three of the courses in the list and get a round free at one of them. Fee for the card to join is only $5. Can't beat that right.

What courses are a part of that? Old hickory/raspberry falls/waverly woods/links at Gettysburg/blue mash?

I've been playing this course for around 20 years, maybe just a little sad to see changes (especially trees going missing).

The sand in the bunkers looks like it would be nice (managed to avoid all of them today)

Played 18 today. Played the first 9 at 3 over and the second 9 at 8 over.

Lost one tee shot, hit all greens except one in regulation on the front. Had one four putt and three three putts. Definitely know what I need to work on. I was playing a left to right tee shot and giving that a try. I did it successfully off every hole where I could hit driver except on the second hole on the back nine where a car came hauling a** and threw me off and I sliced one way right.

Off to bed. Long day tomorrow of applying for a new position, cleaning my clubs, and possibly looking at some houses. What is on the top of our checklist for our next house? Proximity to a golf course. Haha

I've looked into it a couple times. It's a lot of traveling. Pricey if you are those places on the weekends and a day off from work if you play them during the week. But if I had a lot of weekdays off, I think it would make sense.

Solid round with 827, City and PQ. Details have already been revealed, but a few comments. Thanks to PQ for coming out early which allowed for us to get a good game going. Solid play at various times from everyone in the group, but when playing a match, just hoping to have some meaningful putts at the end of the round, which happened.

827 hit the ball as good as I've seen him. Some short game work, and I can see him dropping the cap quite a bit. Some very solid shots off the tee on the back nine. City played ok on the front, and then starting really putting some work in after he dropped the birdie on the back. Putted so well. Lag putts were perfect pace and threatening the hole all day. PQ started off super strong and was just drilling it off the tee with a great baby fade. Looked so controlled and was still pummeled. We both hit a bit of a rough patch to on the first 4/5 holes on the back, but PQ got us back in it with back to back pars on 15 and 16. Great time out there for Jan.

Is it just me or does Fabbs look a heck of a lot like Adam Hadwin, who just shot a 59 today? Oh, and by the way, who the hell is Adam Hadwin? Never heard of him before today.

People mistake me for a number of different handsome athletes and celebrities. It's getting quite tiresome, really.

Did you know that people often think that Eagle looks like a young Vijay Singh? People used to tell him that all the time in college.

I have a set of mizuno JPX 800 pros with recoil f4 110 shafts. Anyone really want them? No reason to let them sit in my garage. I guess most people switch clubs enough that no one will want something a couple years old but if so let me know.

I also have a 913 titleist D2 with a tour AD Di6. It's the shaft kaymer used to win the US Open! Again, probably too old for some to want but let me know.

The shaft alone is probably worth at least 100 I would imagine.

Damn right, it will. I'm sad that we can't get strapped up until 4/1. I saw that there's going to be a grey colorway coming out in May as well. Would be interested to see what that looks like.

Grey should be nice. I will be getting white for sure. Probably drop 2 strokes just because of the zapatos.

Question for you guys...anyone have issues with insomnia? I usually have issues sleeping, but I'm never really sure where to draw the line between sucking it up and going about my day, or calling in sick because I know I won't accomplish a whole lot.
