This is a correct statement in its truest state, but the Falcons lost that game. They were on the 25. Under 5 minutes. Up by one score. Kick the freaking field goal man. Run 100 seconds off the clock or make NE use all timeouts. Two scores to win in that situation and 99% of the time that's the ball game. That was the absolute worst series of play calls / situation in history IMO. Even more so than BEASTMODE.

 

Now we have to hear every sports talk entertainment of any sort suck on Brady's nuts for 6 months.

10 is perfect example of what it was like out there, though.

 

Sully and I both hit very nice drives. And, by "drives", I mean that he hit a 270 yard 7 wood, and I hit a 280 yard 3 iron.

 

He flew the green, then I hit a "nice" wedge that landed in the middle of the green, ran through, and wound up right where Sully did. He chipped into the rough short of the green, and I popped a wedge up that landed nicely on the green, and ran out 10 feet past the hole. Sully 2-putted from the fringe (rough) and I 2-putted from 10 feet.

 

It was wild. On 6, I hit a nice approach that landed on the green, bounced about 20 feet in the air and ran out past the pin, across a slope and off the green. Sully hit a nice wedge that I thought was perfect, and it landed in the front fringe and stayed there.

 

I drove the ball -- I'll say it -- GREAT, from the white tees, and shot 81.

 

Also, I really wasn't going to post the videos until I watched them and realized he had these totally funny comments on them. I was trying to get a video of the ball bouncing across a frozen green.

How many greens combined did we hit? I'm walking backwards and am only thinking 5 for you (18, 14, 8, 5, 3), 3 for me less for me (9, 5,3...none on the back). But lots of putting from the fringe or 2-3 feet in to the taller grass from balls that rolled through. At least twice as many as the actual GIR count, if not more.

Exactly! Horrible clock management. The NFL seems to have forgotten how to run the ball to eat clock. Little Shanny blew it. Now he can go to SF and suck out there.

I hit 3, 8, 14, 15, 18. And I didn't miss a drive.

 

Not 5. I was in the fringe. Fringe on 2, 5, 6, 9, 17. But, then there were the shots like hitting the green on 7 and going into the trap (you going long), hitting the green with a wedge on 10, rough. Intentionally hitting into the rough on 1. Intentionally hitting one to the stick on 12 that bounced through. You and I are both green or fringe on 13 if it's not frozen. I might have hit 16. 17 I would have played a shot into the green instead of the front fringe, that kind of thing.

It was a nice surprise to see Domes out at the Beck yesterday. He is walking GREAT. You would never know that he just had surgery ~5 weeks ago. He will be making some full swings in no time, but there is no need to rush anything at this time of the year.

 

PQ hit some awesome drivers and fairway woods off of the tee yesterday. The ball would take off down the right side and work its way back into the fairway. He is going to shoot some low scores if he continues to drive the ball like that.

 

Like Domes said, I did not have my A game at the beginning of the round. I was hitting it pretty well on the range, but I had trouble finding the center of the club face once we were out on the course. We started on 10. I bladed the ball into the woods on 11 that led to a big number, but kept the damage to bogeys and managed to get up and down for par on 13, 14, & 17. I finally hit a good drive on 18. I smashed one right at the bunkers on the right side of the fairway. It skipped out of the second bunker and was sitting pretty good at ~145 out. Hit the green with a smooth 9-iron for my first GIR of the day. I was then able to put together a pretty good stretch of holes on the front 9. Drove the ball much better. I bogeyed 1 after failing to get up and down, but then went par, par, birdie, par, par. The 4th is quickly becoming my favorite hole. This is the 2nd straight round i have birdied it. I made a silly double on 7 after wiping a 5-iron to the right, and then finished par, bogey for a 39.

 

43-39 = 82 (ESC 81). Not too bad for February golf. Going to get after it again this afternoon.

Lukewarm on the Bridgestone putter. Made some good rolls and some bad rolls. Greens are really bumpy so will withhold any decisions until the spring, which looks like it will be here tomorrow.

 

I love how even if the putter is laying in the rough, the handle sticks up and it's easy to grab. Found I need to be standing with the heel slightly up to get the best results.

 

Even if it doesn't make the cut, it will be a sweet putter to have in the collection. Just stand it up on the floor like a piece of furniture.

The JPX900 3W is a very nice club. Hit it yesterday playing the whites at SPCC. Shot 39-40=79. Very happy with that in Feb. Nothing special all day. Just decide to swing at the ball instead of trying to hit the ball. I tend to forget that sometimes.

great hearing about all you guys getting out on the course and playing some good golf. IN FEBRUARY. pretty much fantastic.

 

snuck out for 9 holes yesterday with boogs and that international man of mystery, c.free. came out of it with no injury, so that's the good. all facets of my game have gone into hibernation, that's the bad. scores weren't too horrendous, but the level of comfort i had at the end of last season is *poof* gone.

 

boogs' is continuing to drive the ball well with his ltd pro. set to 7° with a XS rogue black... he was pounding it. some of the best drives i've ever seen from him. irons were a struggle, but they were a struggle for everyone.

 

c.free started out like a lamb, and finished like a lion. even par over the last 5. i teased him about leaving a chip (and a putt) short on the par 3 4th, and then he just went off. great to see him smiling about his golf game. less thinking, more doing. i told him that the little voice inside his head that's all "golf swing thoughts"... that's like when your old lady is nagging the S outta you. golf's about escaping that. he hit it pretty good after that.

 

crisis averted: on the long downhill par 3 7th, i was walking to my ball and was looking back at a different ball in the bunker. step right into a huge hole, roll my ankle and went down like i was shot. the sudden stab of pain was very unexpected.

 

 

 

 

i roll over and grab my leg and i'm thinking "the trip to PINEHURST!!! Noooooooo!"

 

 

 

 

boogs comes running over and is like "re-tie your shoe! re-tie it real tight!"

 

 

 

 

so i re-tie my shoe and try to pimp walk it off.

 

 

 

 

it doesn't go well.

 

 

 

 

in the end, in spite of the blinding pain, i got up and down to save par.

 

 

 

 

ankle loosened up a hole later and i'm sore today, but ok.
