I suppose this could be done, but I think it'd be interesting to see what the standard deviations of differentials are for two different golfers who both have indexes of 9.0

 

Maybe something to look at for The Hive. Find out who the volatile guys are and who is steady eddie.

Got out today for the Armed Forces Week scramble at Patuxent Greens. Big thanks to Tex and his buddy CJ for filling in at the last minute and carrying our team to victory. We had 12 feet of string, 4 mulligans and 4 grenades which resulted in a ridiculous score of 46 (-25) and a 5 shot victory. Our grand prize was another round a Patuxent Greens (Monday through Friday before August 31st), but it was a good time and great weather. Tex's game is looking good for this weekend and I wish I could be there for the festivities, but I'll be out of town. Good luck to Team Hive!

The grenades allow you to throw the ball so you are advancing the ball without taking a stroke. We made our money on the par 5's and short par 4's where you can throw the ball close enough to the hole to then use the string and thus get an eagle or double eagle. Not exactly real golf, but the proceeds from the mulligans, string and grenades go towards Armed Forces Week charities so it's for a good cause and not exactly a serious tournament. Better than a day at the office for sure.

I have played against the princpal in three Cap Cups, he is pretty constant with getting up and down. He has 1-2 bad holes that are BAD, but is pretty constant with pars. Nothing flashy, just goes along chugging.

Played last night at SPCC from the tips. Playing ok these days. Hope that continues thru the weekend. Shot a solid 79 from 6,950 on a perfect weather day. These are qualifiers for the championship match play flight starting Saturday. Have the CC on Saturday so will not playing in the champ. flight just wanted to see if I could have qualified. I will move to the 1st flight which starts on Sunday. I have played Alan in past CC and he was pretty solid. Also don't see Cory's name on the list, is he playing this year?

REAL last day at Hobbits yesterday with PQ.

 

I was +1 after 9 holes. (3 putt bogey on 8). 10th hole. . .PAR!!!! Bunt drive - 8 iron to the middle of the green. Then I doubled the 11th. Whuh waaahhh.

 

It was "rather Hobbitish" out there. We were behind a ridiculously slow twosome on the front. They were looking for a ball in the road on 8. Guy on 9 takes like 10 practice swings from 250 out, hits it into the fairway bunker, which is about 230 out. He winds up at some point 60 yards off the green with a wedge, pulls out his gps, switches wedges, skulls it over the green. Swings. Still over the green.

 

They leave (which is good) as another twosome tees off on 10 because the HS kids are on the front. Oh? You can just go off the back when people are coming up 9 now? Was that policy in place last year?

 

Anyway, on 4, I'm looking for my ball in the left trees and the guys behind us hit one up the fairway past us, so I poke my head out of the trees and yell "Hey". He waved. No biggie.

 

Hole 6, we're walking off the tee and I'm hard into the fourth bar of "The Way We Were". With feeling.

 

"MISTY WATER COLORED MEM'RIEEEES...."

 

All of a sudden, there's a cart right next to me. . ."Hey. sorry about hitting into you back there."

PQ was money. Probably best I've ever seen him hit the ball. He was 76 with a 3 putt on 2 and 8 and about 4 hard lip outs. on punched greens. Beautiful day.

City after parring 10 on his last round at Hobbits (NSFW LANGUAGE)

I hit about 40 balls in my garage last night without self-destructing, so I'm pretty happy about that. First swings I've taken since Trolls Riding Unicorns. Some half wedges, full wedges, and full 6-irons. The swing is rusty as F, but whatever. I'm just looking to make it through Saturday, and get back to playing regularly again soon.

Two rarities at Hobbits. First, as already covered, City parred 10. I lipped for bogey after hitting a 52 5 yards over the green. That's a PQ special. Second, I hit the 7th in 2, which was then 3 putt for Par (had about 110 feet, only covers 100ish on first attempt). Anyhow, was a 330 drive and a 250 yard scooter hybrid off of a downhill lie in the rough. Felt like a 72 or 73 out there.

My GPS is on "auto advance" and when you're in between holes, a message comes up on the screen, "Are you finished with hole 10". I tried to get a picture of it, but by the time I got the film loaded into my camera, it had advanced to hole 11.

 

PQ and I were fighting about something yesterday, but it's hardly even a GTW.

 

It bothers PQ how little I'm impressed with pro golfers.

 

My contention is basically that they don't do anything a low capper doesn't do. They just do it all the time. He seems to think they've been touched on the genitals by the hammer of Thor. Actually, I'm not sure what his contention is. PQ hit about 4 drives yesterday that were 310+. I mean, NO JOKE. He drove onto the upslope of the green on 17 and the tees were back. That was google-earthed at like 320.

 

You think that was wind aided? He drove one 326 on 13, measured on the GPS and that was the opposite direction. On 7 and 9, he hit two that were easily 3-bills. But, I'm supposed to be impressed because someone does it "more often". Woooo.

 

Look, let me sum it up. . . shot pattern into greens. . .

I remember watching Padraig Harrington hitting 3 woods on the range at the Open at Congo. He hits the first one and legit, I said I know I can hit that shot, carried about 240 yards, rolled out a bit. I was feeling like WTF, I have that shot.

 

He hit 15-20 of the same shot and you could have laid a small golf towel over the dispersion. If I hit 20 3 woods off the deck I would have a dispersion probably 80 yards from side to side and 40 yards from front to back.

Yesterday my buddy (CJ) out driving me by 40-50 yards. Effortless power and controlled.

 

However if he misses I let him know it. Expectations I have for someone with his game He met most of them... but room for improvement like all of us.
