2015 Ogio Silencer is here (Pics now)

I am excited to find this bag, got it for a decent price (2015) for the stand version of the Blinders/Burst. Can't wait for it to arrive. Never had an Ogio bag, current bag is a Ping Lattitude V2.

if anyone has the stand bag, could you post pictures of your club arrangement? I want some ideas as to how you have set the clubs up. I am finding it a bit tricky to get the best configuration.

This is the best I found that worked although I don't like how the wedges at the bottom sit up so high but I know that is due to the way the stand bag is designed.

Can you use this bag with clubs that have mid-size grips? Will the bottom be able to lock them in place?

My Silencer cart bag was just delivered today. It works great with both midsize and Jumbo grips.

I asked for the cart bag for Christmas and well my wife didn't deliver. Bad thing was when I told her they were 129.99 and once I realized I wasn't getting it all the black options were 50$ more. So I found a lightly used one on the bay for 135. Kills me to spend more for used then they use to be new but o well. I'm coming from 2 C130 cart bags which I like a lot but once I got mine everyone in my group bought one in the same color so I bought a white and green but this bag falls over constantly for some reason. Gave it away to my buddy's dad.

My C130 from last year, I had the 2014 c130 also and it was fine

I bought the stand bag version from Rockbottom golf over the holidays for around $120 new. Main reason was I picked up the Titleist T-MB irons and didn't want them banging around each other. Have a few rounds in and really like the bag. There are a few things I would change, but would recommend it. The Silencer top works really well for me. I walk with a Clicgear 3.5+ but still like having the stand when I am on the range.

So this thread was about the 2015 Silencer bag. I see they have a 2016 out now. Anyone know what changes were made? Can anyone compare the 2?

The only changes between 2015 and 2016 are the colors. I had the 2015 and the bottom that holds the clubs in place started falling apart so I got the new 2016 and there are exactly zero things different other than the color.

Does anyone else's silencer stand bag not locate all of the clubs properly? I got mine when they had the sale in december. I was able to get them to send me a replacement after they recommended me to file a warranty claim. The new one is better but still isn't perfect. Just looking to see if it's a common issue. The warranty process was pretty quick and painless though.

How big is the cooler? Does it have independent putter wells? Is it available in black and red or a combination of those 2?

The "cooler" is essentially a pocket big enough to hold two 12oz cans....at best. It's not a real cooler. Just a small pocket that is lined to help keep the drink cold.

2 cans of beer ain't gonna go far... 24 oz of scotch may...and everything is quiet with this bag...booze et al.

 

Only 2 gripes with the bag, it's wee heavier and the foot print is pretty big & barely fit on the back of a cart, sideways.

I bought the gray/orange/black bag today. Really wanted a cart bag, have a PING Hoover 4. Lately, I have been riding a lot more and carry bag is a pain on the golf cart.

 

Really liked the Sun Mountain C130 just seemed better build, but I have brand new irons (4 rounds) and I really like the silencer holding system. Seems like a nice bag, a few questionable details like grab handle and light weight material. Hope it holds up well. So far so good

I had a Chamber and it had, like many initial releases, many problems.

 

-was heavy, like really heavy

-fell over quite easily

-putter well could not hold oversized putter grips

-the bottom locking mechanism was too tight and made it overly difficult to remove clubs

-the putter well was too deep so even a 35" putter dangled inside by the head

-there was a "ring" that went around the top of the bag that added difficulty in removing the clubs on the outer perimeter

-the pockets were too streamlined and made the zippered openings harder to reach into and out of, also gave up lots of cargo space

-THE WORST OF ALL though was the zipperless ball pocket. This worked fabulously on other Ogio bags, but a huge design failure on the Chamber. Nearly every Chamber review has this as their biggest complaint.

 

The Silencer is better in every way except for solidity. The Chamber has lots of internal support, which is also why it was as heavy as a staff bag despite being the size of a carry bag. Other than that, the Silencer improved across the board.

I've been using 2009 Bennington QO-9 until very recently. Very sturdy and made with quality materials. One of the zippers finally broke and even though it can be fixed I went ahead and bought 2015 silencer cart bag. I've played a few rounds with the silencer. The Silencer is lighter but QO-9 is overall better bag IMO. The QO-9 was easier to pull clubs in and out and it completely eliminates chatter whereas with silencer clubs move around a little. The silencer uses cheap material.. guess trade off for its light weight. Putter bangs with other clubs so I always have SC hc on, which I didn't have to with QO-9.

I will still keep silencer because of the light weight and its perfect fit to my pushcart. QO-9 would rotate because of putter well sticking out on the side.

yeah, i agree, the strap sucks especially when you are one armed. i had a Ping hoofer and while the straps may appear loose and all over the place, it was so easy to put the bag on using 1 arm. Other than that, the silencer is an awesome bag, abliet you have to stand it twisted side ways in a cart.

How heavy is the cart version of this bag? Since I buy most of rounds via Golf Now, I ride in a cart like 90% of the time. However, during the summer I do like to play the occasional 9 hole twilight round, which I'll usually just walk because it's cheaper. I have a Taylormade stand bag, but it's in perfect shape and I'm thinking of selling it to help pay for the Ogio Silencer.

 

Would walking with the cart bag version be too much? I could always just rent a push cart if it's too heavy, but the ones that the course gives you usually don't have a locking mechanism to keep the bag in place.

Bummer. I probably wouldn't buy the stand version anyway. I've got a stand bag for the range and the few times I do carry. I'm more interested in a cart bag at this point. Luckily, I don't have mid sized grips, just standard.
