Gatorade Alternatives on the Course

I have been walking lately which is pretty brutal here in Florida. I have been using Gatorade. I mix half a larger bottle with powder (cheaper) then throw it in the freezer overnight. When I am leaving for the course I fill the rest with water. The iced Gatorade keeps the water cold in the beginning of the round and towards the end of the round the sugars in the Gatorade help me finish. Works pretty well.

Powerade..........but in all seriousness the only thing I drink on the course is water.

Powerade's Mystic Mountain Blueberry

It's delicious, and cools you on a hot summer day.

I brew a concentrated batch of Sports Tea and cut it with a simple syrup and water. Also, make "homemade" sports drink out of flavoring, sugar, and a touch of salt. It's nice to make it as strong or weak as your taste. Lately I've been making lemonade to mix with the tea for an Arnold Palmer. I've used the Nuun tablets too, mostly mountaineering and they're great albeit a bit pricey.

I'll typically stick to water out on the course. Nuun is a great alternative if you need a little flavor or if you're sweating a lot. I usually find that, especially here in Florida, that gatorade becomes less and less appetizing as the day goes on due to its sweetness.

Whatever you choose, stay hydrated!

I have heard chocolate milks does wonders but have no idea why.
[/quote]

Chocolate milk has a basic sweetness along with all the amino acids and electrolytes you need. This was the best post-workout drink imaginable after long workouts back in my running/triathlon days. I wouldn't recommend it for out on the course unless you can keep it cold throughout the day.

Big fan of Nuun tablets. Not only do they have much less sugar than Gatorade but they also cost around $5 for 12 tablets (as opposed to $36 for the equivalent Gatorade bottles). Just drop one in a water bottle and you're good to go. I use them on the golf course and when I go to the gym as well. Once you get used to the less sugary taste they are great and really help out on hot days. Won't play a round of golf without them.

I like Vitamin Water Revive because it has 25% DV of potassium and seems to help me quite a bit with post round cramping in my feet and calves. I like to drink a V8 juice in the morning before I know I'm walking for the same reason.

I like coconut water. I dont care for the taste so I buy VitaCoco kids drink boxes. Keeps me well hydrated.

+1, I started drinking a carton before my round and then just sip on water throughout. I find I don't get that "drained" feeling towards the end of a round.

I just drink the regular, but all the flavored ones aren't bad either, pineapple and lemonade versions mask the coconut sufficiently.
