Accra iron shafts ... Any users?

There just doesn't seem to be any talk of Accra on these forums. I know they make excellent shafts, but for some reason there's 0 conversation about them.

I just had my Miura irons reshafted with the Accra 90i Tour shafts. I had Recoil Prototype shafts in them before. I did some extensive testing with multiple graphite shafts and the Accra led to the best results on Flightscope. We did this testing over several sessions. I don't even remember all the shafts we tested, but Tony Rhode maybe able to chime in and perhaps share the results. So far, I am very impressed with these shafts. They have a nice solid feel to them, good ball flight with no ballooning in the wind, no real change in distance. The main improvement that I am seeing is in dispersion. While I really like my Recoils (Prototype 110 F4), they felt a little whippy when I would go after the ball. The Accras seem to hold up better when I make an aggressive swing at the ball. Right now, I am enjoying them enough, that I am considering reshafting my Epons with them as well. The other neat thing is that you can customize the appearance. They will let you choose color and reduce the number of decals they have on the shaft.

Accra has to be the most underrated shaft company out there. Their quality is second to none. Accra is my primary shaft go to brand for all of my fittings. The new Tour iron shafts are super impressive. They put an Axis weave in the butt section to keep the shaft stable when you go after it, but it doesn't feel harsh on normal shots either. I can't say enough good things about Accra shafts and the company too. They worked with Cool Clubs to develop the S3 machine for measuring EI profiles. You can request EI profiles be measured for every shaft you buy, they offer any custom color on the iSeries shaft line and custom engraving as well.

I have had and currently gaming the I series in my irons the the SP in my wedges.
This is my third go around with them as I always come back to these.
Must be the smooth feel. I also have the new FX in a fairway and switch out my XC55 in my driver between the Speeder 569.
Accra makes great stuff very under rated.
Hope this helps.

What is your Driver swing speed? I am playing your same Recoil Setup currently in my irons, but have Accra throughout on woods.

Very common (and easy) to taper a .370" to .355", guys on this forum do it regularly. Just have to carefully file or sand the very 1/2" of the tip and test fit as you go. Most graphite manufacturers iron shafts start life as .370" and have basically what equates to a pencil sharpener to turn them down to .355".

I have a set of Accra Tour 110's in a set of Fourteen FM-1000's and think they are fantastic. Create a very soft feel and tight shot dispersion. Long time Steelfiber guy and thick they are easily on par. I love that they have a 6' parallel tip so matching my set was easy. BB

Yep, that's a good deal, but unfortunately, they are all .370, and I need .355. I sincerely appreciate the heads up though!

Simple to taper the tips once you have cut to flex/frequency. It's actually the recommended method by Accra. BB

Re-asking the flex question raised in 2015... :-)

Do these play true to flex? I'm considering the Tour i90 or Tour ICWT 95 but not sure if I should go with a stiff or a stiff-regular flex.

Don't have a fitter near me. 7I average carry is 160 yards. I'm comfortable with a Modus 105 stiff for flex reference but can play the modus 105 regular as well.

Thanks in advance.

IMO, 95icwt sit between a Recoil and Steelfiber in regards to feel.

I think that's a great assessment. For Liongolfer, (I think I know who you are.....) I reckon the Accra's are a livelier version of Fire Express DGL. Maybe a combo of Roddio and Steelfiber for your reference. Smooth like Roddio but with a spring effect or kick that I feel Steelfibers have. Maybe Fire Express WBQ are the answer......need to test them one day, hahahahaha.

Yeah you guessed right. I'm wondering if these play stiff to flex. Flex for Flex in the same weight class, how do these stack up to Roddios? I've no clue how steel fibres play.

Just been to the range and compared my OnOff 5i/Accra, Fourteen 26*/AD DI 105x, Fourteen 21*/Diamana 90x and OnOff 21*/Roddio i-8s. Certainly not apples to apples but I'd take a best guess and say I'd say that the Accra Tour 110x is more stout/firm than a Roddio i-10sx.

Thanks. An X should play more stout than a SX.

I'm trying to ascertain if the Accra plays stiff to flex like say the Crazy shafts. That'll help me make a less risky punt on flex. Thinking of the icwt95 now.
