TP Mills - Post your Putter

I don't have the funds to buy a new one right now, the used one I'm looking at would be less and I know the guy so I can pay him in segments if I need to but i'm not even doing that cause a new putter is the last thing I need now with all courses shut down.

Well quarantine got the best of me, picking up a Handmade this weekend if I can meet. Looks to be a Trad II XL but when I pick it up I'll get photos and you guys can confirm, regardless it has pretty much everything I'm looking for mine face milling but that's a small detail I can get over.

 

And for anyone worrying I've met this fellow before and we're taking precautions in our transaction.

Here it is, went for a drive and picked this up and it's a stunner.

Not sure on the exact model I'm thinking Trad II XL, Ming or Dalehead based on the cavity stamp, maybe someone can clarify if they know better. Metal I'm pretty sure his SGSS , face milling is basically flat the mill literally skipped across the face slightly, weight is nice at 365g.

Going to email Dave and see if he can give me more info, also maybe help me source a headcover as this didn't come with one, I'm also going to put and extension on this as sourcing a shaft may be hard. Anyways here it is...

Edit: Got an email back from Craig and he said it's a Trad II, Stainless with a hand welded flow neck. Apparently a rare lefty option.

Wow that's nice! How do you like it so far? Also how big of a difference do you feel between this and your Toulon San Diego that I'm assuming has a plumbers neck?

Thanks, so far I'm loving it just not the grip and length but those are easy fixes.

As for compared to my Toulon they're both nice, remember sound will change on the ball used. The TP even with the flat face the sound isn't loud due to the heft, with a TP5x it's a muted click if that makes sense. I also used an AVX and it was muted thud. Both are nice to my ear, I prefer a muted sound vs a very audible click.

The Toulon will be more muted with both balls due to the face. I could compare both tomorrow but they're both quality, I'm just not digging the Toulon cause it feels too flat after I changed my stance a bit but a lie change and it.

First Mills! Picked it up mainly to see if I like the flowneck since I plan on ordering a custom from David. Taking it out on the course today so we’ll see how I putt!

Not sure about the Dalehead but the Trad II doesn't look to be too far off, I'm sure he could shape it to be more like a Dalehead. Never hurts to ask.

I recently sent an very old Lefty handmade to David Mills to get a new finish. The putter was in good overall shape however the finish had faded over time. According to David it was the oldest Left hand he has ever seen! Truett P. Mills made this in his garage using all hand tools in the early 1960's. I was conflicted on what do next. I have no plans on gaming and this would be handing on a wall and new finish would look better. David Mills gave me 3 option. (1.) keep as is with a letter stating the history. (2.) Refinish back to new with a letter. or (3.) The curve ball and trade it for a new handmade.

I went with option 3.) and it was not easy but at least it is back home where it came from.

My new Mills Softtail in Swiss Stainless steel. I have to say it feels soft compared to other Stainless steel that I have played in the past. This is the second putter David Mills made just for me (other was a One) and what I traded for the old handmade posted above.
