Redirect Issues

So, this happened to me while reading the Tiger's Back thread in Tour Talk...

Geeze, I didn't even get off this page and I got hit again. This is only happening on GolfWRX. It is becoming tough to even browse the forums...

I have the exact same issues as well. Using a Mac and Safari. It is very frustrating.

Have seen various ranging from "contest winner" to "virus injected".

happening to me as well. one redirect to update flash. another for a mac cleaner

GolfWRX this is getting out of hand. I don't know where your ads are coming from but they keep redirecting me to download a new "codec for playing videos" or "your Mac is infected with malware".

 

Figure out what ad source you have that is doing this and please remove them. Your site is difficult to view in this current condition.

It just happened to me again. Three times in fact. Within 8 minutes. This is becoming a serious issue, to me anyway. I love WRX and am happy to help out, but I am a little tired of posting in this thread. Seriously.

Thanks, I will check again. It is interesting it only happens on WRX, even after a clean install of my OS and Chrome.

Unfortunately the MacProtect app does not exist on my machine and there is no process running for MacProtect. I'll keep looking.

I have been seeing the same behavior. It tries to download a flash update, from some unknown site. Only happens here on golfwrx. This is fresh install of mac OS X as well, so no malware here. I have seen this behavior intermittently for a while now.

I am by no means expert on home computers.

 

When you say fresh install I assume you mean you're re-installing the entire operating system as opposed to updating to the next release, yes ?

 

If so, I assume you have to also doing a fresh install of all other apps as well, correct ? And does a fresh install of the operating system include all the MAC apps as well, a la Numbers, Pages, etc ?

That is typically what a clean install means. It is what I mean when I say clean install.

Yes, that is a clean install. A fresh install of the os on a freshly wiped hdd, and then all other applications re-installed.

Having the same redirect issues as others...been happening for maybe a week now. Happening on my laptop (windows) and ipad.

 

 

EDIT - Since posting, I've had three redirects. A couple have happened while I wasn't even browsing the site (was in another tab). Site is borderline unusable right now.

From reading some sites it appears to be related to Google and/or Google Chrome (add ons).

 

If you're signed ON to your Google account, try signing off and see if the pop ups still happened. This, of course, is only a "test" since you'll probably WANT to be signed onto Google for,,,,,,,,, whatever.

 

Anyhow, I also ran across this It's a couple of years old but,,,,,,,,, I don't have the problem and I am using Chrome and also am signed into Google. I am however, on a MAC (no idea if that matters - I would think not but)

I'm not getting any ads or actual redirects, but I do have trouble access the main page at times, getting this when using chrome:

WRX is about unusable for me. 20+ redirects since starting at the top of the page.

 

There is SO MUCH great info here. I'd spent plenty more time here if I didn't have to deal with the bullsh*t.

 

How can it be so bloated? Do paid users go through the same trouble?

Please post devices and browser. Please post screenshots of pages and links. We have 3rd party ad filters on and need information to see if we can find the common issue. It could be geographic, device, or browser target. We need info as its only happening to a certain segment of users.
