Hunter Mahan...whats up?

Didnt think there would be this much interest in Mahan. Just add him to the list with Ian Baker-Finch, David Duval, Yani Tseng atleast they have Majors then fell apart

Guy was taking down Rory head to head to win WGC events and was good for 1-2 wins a year. He's top 10'd every major and has 9 wins worldwide. Why wouldn't we be interested?

Marriage, wife, children, house building, moving, family commitments, sponsor pressures, lacking self-belief in his abilities, and growing older have all taken its toll on him over a very short period of time. I spent a few hours with him on-set doing a commercial in April. What I saw was a man that seemed really down - almost despondent. He doesn't have the intense desire anymore, but doesn't want to give it up either. He's lost. He's not in a good place...

I hope he does, but I don't foresee Hunter making the cut at the RBC Canadian Open being played this week. Each missed cut is added scar tissue that is hard to overcome.

yea, he was 2 under with the cut at 2 over with like 5 holes to play and he got a 7 on a par 3. No idea what he did, I know atleast one went into water.

This is the tournament he led three years ago, but he withdrew so he could be with his wife Kandi because she went into labor with their first child. With a weak field at this tournament Hunter should (under normal circumstances) be expected to finish in the top 10. Sadly, he missed the cut... Every week that goes by, and every tournament in which Hunter misses the cut or doesn't finish high on the leaderboard, is devastating for his confidence and destructive for his future. Odds are gaining in likelihood that Hunter will end up being just another one of the many PGA tour players that fell by the wayside after once being a household name.

Its golf, you can lose your game for a variety of reasons. Countless examples. Anthony Kim, Chris Riley, Finch, Duval, Watney, Jonathan Kaye, Trevor Immleman, Mike Weir, etc, etc and we could even mention Tiger when u consider he hasn't won a major since he was 32 though the 5 wins in 2013 including the players, wgc and getting back to world #1 counter that view.

that don't come back. The jury is out on Mahan.

 

I remember the glow when Ping re-signed him....and all the commercial spots with

Bubba and Lee and others. I hope he gets his form back. I like him myself.

Hunter Mahan missed yet another cut again, this time at the Wyndham Championship in Charlotte, NC. He finished two rounds at 1 over par and the cut came at 3 under par. The leader is at 12 under par and posted a 60 for his Friday round on the par 70 layout.
