Taylormade Spider Limited Putters (06/03 Release Date)

So I just thought id share, I removed the aluminum glued screws and drill and tapped to accept the TM weights i had in an oldd superquad. It worked great, buuuuuut the hole isnt but 1/4" deep so my weights stick out a bit. I dunno, kinda looks cool to me hahaha

Throw the balance off at all?

I have a buddy who has one and he's always wanted to add more weight. Think he may try filling the holes with Tungsten or lead powder and some epoxy.

I just did it last night so havent had a chance to really roll any. Gonna try this evening. From the carpet putts its heavier and sturdy for sure.

Wow. What a beautifully designed and constructed putter.

 

I've been looking for a new face balanced putter, as my Odyssey White Hot Mallet felt prone to being 'wobbly'.

 

I found other face balanced offerings effective, but they're far too distracting to the eye, where as this looks clean and compact.

 

So I went for the 34" limited spider in red. The black version looks smart, but I think I'd find the rear red bumpers distracting.

 

I was concerned that the red would be too ostentatious, but in person it's a much less aggressive shade than in photos. I play with very traditional golfers here in England, so I'm curious as to whether this will raise a few eyebrows. Though I really won't care if it performs as good as it feels!

 

The Super Stroke grip is the best I've felt, super tacky.

 

I'm lucky as my straight back straight through style favours the double bend shaft. Unlucky for those who want alternative shafts.

 

It's interesting to see others experimenting with the weights, but it feels absolutely perfect for me.

 

Surely Taylor Made will be increasing the range here, adding removable weights, shaft and colour options.

 

My only complaint is that removing the labels from the shaft has left all kinds of unsightly residue. Will be Googling for tips on removing these.

 

Can't wait to start gaming with it. I've 3 competitions in the next 10 days and this is going straight in the bag.

Was in my local watts today and the TM rep was in there...he had a flow neck itsy bitsy spider in red...he said they were also releasing a black one also...I would've taken pictures but I didn't have my phone on me at the time

Still loving this putter, though I am keeping my eye out for an old black itsy bitsy, with a straight sight line and a double bend shaft - in case I ever get fed up of all this red!

Looks like from the pics it will be the "exact" putter they play (grip and insert at least with no sight line )... So excited!

Drill and tapped for removable weights, the 12g weights were a bit heavy and stuck out too far, these 6g weights are faaaaar better.

Can you take some of the length off the weights at the threaded end? I seem to remember they were quite long

Not really, its not the threads that make them stick out, its the weight itself.
