Taylormade Spider Limited Putters (06/03 Release Date)

I ordered a black and red one. Really like the look of the putter and hoping it helps me putt like Day lol

Slant necks will be a special vault release on their own I'm sure. I love how they had the spider slant neck in retail and ever since Day has been using it they won't make them anymore lol. Never give them what they want.

That is definitely not the retail pricing I saw, pretty sure those are wholesale prices

Got mine yesterday. Not a fan of the insert, a little disappointed. It's my fault but I always assumed the insert would be more like the old pure roll insert. This one feels kinda dead off the face.

Got my black and red today, looks pretty good... They had a couple of the all red ones on hold. The all red looked way better in person, the color is not as distracting and the black shaft is a nice compliment

It looks like TM website is sold out of the red limited but have lots of inventory for black/red.

PGA SS has stock for red still.

 

Do you guys think this putter will keep its resale value?

Being mallet and red...i am not sure if there is really much of demand.

This is not a collectors' piece, so don't buy this one if you're looking for resale value. It's limited and there is demand, but it's certainly not supply constrained.

 

Buy it if you want to game it. And if you game it, be aware that the paint will chip like on all of the other Spider putters.

It'll be interesting to see what price any show up in the Classified section for. I can see it now, "Bought this, tried it once on the carpet, didn't work for me, so I'll let it go for $500" You know, just to help a fellow golfer out. :dntknw:

Ditto on above. I don't recall an OTR TM putter that held a significant fraction of its value. And I haven't seen of the red ones up close, but I expect the finish is a paint.

 

I don't know why TM insists on painting their putters, when other more durable finish options are available. In any case, more business for refinishers!

Of course, having said all that above, I have to admit that I bought a red one and that I bought it to add to my collection of Spiders. But they're all gamers to me and I own them because I like the putter style, not because I expect them to hold any of their value.

Exactly- I just picked mine up from Roger Dunn a few hours ago and already thinking of returning it!

It's a great putter, though. Looks cool and I like the feel of the insert. I'll give it a go at the course tomorrow...

Golfsmith still has the red ones on their website. Chances are they don't have them and you'll get an order cancelled email though.
