Yep remember that thread Scooter started many years ago--- In fact it was when I first started on WRX--- I thought there was something seriously wrong with me until I read that. I had been playing older blade irons all along and only switched to metal woods around 02 or so. Since then mostly I have played the "combo" of modern metals ( in my case somewhat modern ) and older blade irons. LOL I snatch up any V-Steel I find if it is a reasonable price. My V-Steel 3 wood which has became beloved in my eyes actually came off the shredder pile at work. I had gotten it some time ago and frankly forgot about it. I was rummaging around the shop trying to find a shaft for a Pristine 3 wood I had. This thing is rougher than a night in the county jail. It hits really good. LOL last week I did get rid of a V-Steel 4 wood which is rare. I had 2 heads and a guy who hits a V-Steel 5 wood wanted a 4 wood. He got me a shaft which can be hard to find these days ( .350) and I set it up. He hits it good. My 7 wood I have had since it was new

Trust me I carry Iboprofren every where I go along with CBD gummies. I can take one of those 500 count ibuprofen bottles and split it up into several smaller containers. I have it everywhere in all the golf bags I use, in the car in my satchel I use in my Church work and when I drove a truck in my road bag. CBD gummies are expensive and are subject to melt in the heat so I carry them in my little tote cooler. Yep unlike my Master Card I do not leave home without my ibuprofen

What's frustrating this morning....the load speed of these forums.  Spinning wheels.  Waiting.  Dial-up slow.  And it happens with some regularity, about once a week.  And it's not on my end.  Every other webpage I've opened today loads as it should.

@BIG STU  I'm sure you already know this.  Can always shim in .335 into a .350 V-Steel.  Most of my V's are shimmed.  Shafts I had around, or .335's acquired inexpensively (primarily PL Platinums).  Never understood the purpose of .350 to begin with.

You guys that are taking ibuprofen for pain; next time try taking half the dose you would

normally take and take a half dose of acetaminophen with it. I think you may be surprised

how well these 2 work together for pain relief. Much better than either alone but make

sure to not take more than 3000 mg of acetaminophen in a 24 hour period.

This combo has worked very well for me over the past decade or so. The way it's been explained to me is while both are NSAIDS, they effect different nerve receptors and offer relief for a wider variety of ailments.

R7 425 arrived today.  Pretty nice shape although a little on the grimy side.  I'll have to clean it up a bit better with a tooth brush and some dish detergent.  It has an oddball weight in it setup to maximize draw bias.  I rearranged the weights to maximize launch angle and set the 14g weight toe side as I tend to centre up the club a bit that way to begin with.  We'll see how it plays on Monday.  Will probably go full BIG STU with metal woods and old school irons/wedges/putter.

My Doc has said it is ok for me to do that--- What happens with me is too much caffine because I do love and drink my coffee and I get shaky hands.

The only reason I go moderns is because everyone else in our matches and the Shootout plays metals so thus I need the firepower. If I had my way about it I would play my persimmon all the time and  hit from the Super Senior ( over 70 ) tees.  But they will not let me do that.

Those R-7 drivers are something else and IMHO they are still good drivers.

Executed a fair amount of physical labor yesterday.  Was rather achy in the evening.  Decided to take a couple ibuprofen.  Reaching for the bottle, remembered the 1 + 1 prescriptive.  So that's what I did.  Washed them down with a cold beer.  Quelled the fiery nerve receptors. 

 

Feel fit as a fiddle this morning.

I did once.  Had the Ping E2 4 wood in the bag, that I seem to have the most confidence with.  To actually hit a half way decent shot.  The reference I made elsewhere in offering it to the buds to try.  And they were afraid to touch it, like it would contaminate their game or something.  😕

Attended a family weeding last night.  The couple were both in their 40's; first time for each.  The bride, my 2nd cousin, her son is getting married next month.  Times are a changin'!

 

Lovely outdoor venue under a tent at a (used to be) local golf course.  One of my favourites, actually.  I was looking out over the 14th fairway into the twilight during the meal and there was a magical quality about it.  The venue was built around an old stone foundation of a house with a hearth in one end.  Made for  a rustic vibe that was topped off with the groomsmen all wearing kilts and featuring a hand binding ceremony between the bride and groom.  Excellent food just topped off the occasion.

 

One thing is for certain; COVID has changed so many things with respect to behavior.  Several folks showed up without their significant other.  Excuses were given, but I can't help but wonder if it was a comfort factor, especially when there were so many instances.  On the flip side of that, the parents of the bride who have been divorced for at least 25 years, sat together.  I'm not reading anything into it, but when you've been estranged for that long, it was a bit of a shock!  You don't realize how many demons people have to deal with.  They can pull people apart, but they can bring people back together too.

I have no idea what is up with me.  I thought that I nailed that R7 driver on the last two holes today and the dreaded knuckle ball showed up.  Contact felt great, but the dang ball just dropped out of the sky.  Even my playing partners mentioned it that the ball appeared to have topspin on it rather than backspin.  Maybe I need a longer tee?  Maybe I need a different ball?  I know that I wasn't getting any sort of check on the ball on my chips and pitches.  Pretty frustrating round today. 🙄🤔

I'm in this boat now, coming up on the second wedding this year where my wife and I are going solo. The first one, I stayed back to pull puppy duty with our then 10-week old little guy. 

 

The one coming up, different story. It's my cousin, she's in her 20's and by our casual asking almost 50% of the attendees are not vaccinated. They've also been traveling frequently and some will be traveling to the wedding. I'm going out of support but staying in a close bubble- my wife is pregnant and no way in hell am I going to let them directly expose her in her first trimester.

No, I think a set of eyes that knows what they're doing might help.   Could be something small on the setup or I've developed a flaw that I didn't used to have.   I can generally hit my 3W just fine,  so it maybe more of a club specific thing as in driver in general.

I know all about puppy duty since we adopted a now 14 month old French Bulldog ( he was 11 monts old when we got him) to go along with our adopted now 12 year old Terrier mix. The Frenchie is doing good and is learning from his older brother who is fully house broken

On the family front you have to do what you guys feel is right for your upcoming family---- IMHO you are making a wise decision. Folks have to realize that times are changing and we can no longer stand on tradition. Me I have no family left and my wife has only her brother who we have not heard squat from in 4 years now so we do not have any issues around holidays or family events. Lots of folks feel sorry for us around Holidays etc but we are just fine me the wife and our " 2 Boys" now. I can remember my first wife had a extremely large family and I had absolutely nothing in common with any of them. Family gatherings I just more or less sat in the corner and smiled and nodded bored beyond description. Yep like I said I believe you ar doing the right thing with your wife expecting

The rain has finally stopped here after two straight days. I guess I should have cut my grass when I had the chance on Tuesday afternoon during a break in the showers as it is really matted down now.  It will have to wait for a day or two to dry out now.  I'm usually not this lax, but we had furnace installers here the previous two days and that was my focus.

 

I'll be going up to the course to play in men's league.  I haven't heard back of cancelations, so assume everything is a go albeit in most likely soggy conditions.  At least it won't be raining.

So, we did get out this morning.  In fact, we were the first groups of the day as the course was closed to play until after 10 am.  We had three groups in total.  Walking only, so that cut down on the number of players.  Conditions were better than anticipated.  there was plenty of standing water here and there, but only one green with water on it and scant at that.  Thank gawd that my Foot Joys are still water proof!!

 

Fairly mediocre game was had by all, but we blamed the conditions.  You really had to overclub to get it to the green.  Chipping and putting were a bit of a game of guess.  Struggling with ball striking once again with long clubs.  Irons and wedges are fine, but I'm pull hooking my metal woods.  Not sure what's up with that.  Maybe I'm getting a bit handsy? 🤔

Yeahbutt.  Did they have any KSig V2.0 balls in stock?  Haven't seen a skid of those since back in the spring.  Wish they could keep the organic multi-grain tortilla chips in stock.  Almost depleted our last bag, no inventory earlier this week.  No storage of big screen TV's though.  Must be hustling those in from Long Beach (capacity priorities).  Kicking the tires on an upgrade.  

 

Time for Costco to restore full condiment availability in the food court.  Miss having sauerkraut on my Costco dog.  Before dropping two fidy in their joint.  (What?  You get out of there for less?)  

 

FYI.  Bought a big lot of the house branded paper towels and TP at Home Depot yesterday.
