Hit the ball really well from tee to green with the assorted implements in the signature.  Only used the 5W once off the tee and it was just shy of 180.  The 3 and 4 hybrids were really nice.  Used them a couple of times each from the tee and from the deck.  Hit a beautiful 3h from about 160 to make the green on a mid length par 4 hole.  Hit 3 very nice tee shots with the R7 so the 2000's era bag is definitely in play!

 

Putting was misery.  After 3 holes I gave up as there was no way that you could make a decent stroke on the shaggy soaked greens and not destroy your putting for the rest of the year in terms of weight control.  I just gave myself an automatic 2 per hole and walked off.  I was really happy with my ballstriking and my chipping.  Under normal conditions I would have had close to my low round of the year.  I guess the golf gods were trying to tell me something when the scorecard blew away on the way to the first green. 😏

I was talking about this with my wife this AM--- When I could walk I would grab my Moonlite bag and 5 clubs and use a Calamity Jane style blade putter for the same reasons you stated. They tend to get the ball above the un cut wet grass. Remember back in the day greens were not cut as tight as they normally are now and that is why they had those style of putters. A Bulls Eye works well too. But then again when I did that I could care less about the score. For me it was enjoy the walk and the empty golf course. Still not able to walk more than a couple of holes

Maybe I just "sound" tall being that I'm such a bloviator anyway. I'm very average in most

things which, happily, has made fitting clothes or golf clubs a simple matter. As Yogi

might say; I can easily wear 80% of my clothes 20% of the time and vice versa and

50% of my clothes the rest of the time.

 

Happy there is a fellow Ping traveler in your pal Bear. He the one that plays and has 

multiple back up sets of Eye2s?

 

Not surprised there is still some S55 use on tour.  They are great irons and the last of

S series Ping made. I still have my S58s you put together for me and still play them and

consider them one of the best irons Ping ever made........and the last of the S series

that were made in the USA.

I thought the same about Rad's elevation. He looks a good 3 inches taller than me in pictures and I've always called myself 5'9".  There must have been a little shrinkage or perhaps my horizontal excess makes me look short.  I'm not fat, I'm short for my weight.😁

Naah Bear does not have any Ping Eye2s but that may change since he is the ultimate club ho--- He does play ( for now) a 425 Ping driver and (again for now) as the latest and greatest??? Titleist irons---- The guy who has multiple sets of Eye2s ( more Eye2s than I have Macs) is Earl The Pearl--- Earl is in his mid 80s now and still talks smack and plays every day weather permitting and still plays an old R-1 driver and V-Steels---- The only one around here that will play me from the super senior tees with me hitting persimmon. Not for any real money just a Pepsi for me and a Yeungling for him. Still regulary shoots his age or better from the Senior tees. Talked smack to me the other week said I needed to play him with the metals in and me from the regular senior tees but he did not want me to "strain my back". Said he got blamed for a lot of crap but did not need that on his account. He is a member of a neighboring course.

In the past I was a cold calculator in a money match but mostly now since I do not play serious comp or big money matches any more I am more than less a happy warrior especially taking CBD and a couple of hits off a left handed Marlboro. Really seriously like before my accident I am having the most fun in golf I ever have had.

I got that quote from "Roadhouse" figgured you guys would catch that---- Shrug thought it would be a great pun. Now days my weight is up but as one of my buds says I am just a big old boy. The other day when the weather was good I did what I called a coffee cruise along the beach hwy sunroof back beach tunes playing in the Benz. Had the old terrier in the back seat with the seat heat on ( he likes that) and the Frenchie in the front seat with his riding rig on. Seen one of my cop buddies on patrol. Talked to him  and he told the other cop " Those are 2 big old boys stuffed in a big old Benz. Yep the Frenchie is now 14 months old and weighs 26 LBS. Built like a mini bulldog in the Mack truck advertisements.

It has been years since I have partaken in the lefthanders.  I simply can't stand the smell.  Makes me nauseous. 🤢  There is a grow op (legal) behind the YMCA on the east end of town and the smell in the parking lot is overwhelming.  DW goes to the aquafit classes, I stay far, far away...

 

#1 son suggested that I should be taking CBD oil drops when my back was really bad.  Based on @BIG STU experience I probably should have and will remember that should I have a reoccurrence in the future.  As far as recreational use, that's a bridge too far.  I'm not a moralist, just doesn't interest me in the slightest.

Since the passage of Prop 1 here in 2018 (legalizing recreational use and possession of herb), multiple grow ops have opened around the state.  Developers planning to open a $50M operation in Detroit.  Dispensaries are opening up everywhere.  No longer needing a medical marijuana card.  Anyone can drive up and order off the menu.   A proposal to open one in our small 'burg has been submitted.  

 

People were once arrested for simple use and possession.  Which was wrong.  Now deemed acceptable, proliferating, and all perfectly legal.  Which I'm not entirely comfortable with either.  How the times have changed.  There's money to made by investors and government entities.  The genie is out of the bottle.  

 

It ain't your $10 a lid stuff from BITD, that would give one a "glow".  The hooch today is way to strong, jellies your brain.  Makes you feel stupid.  Not really interested anymore.  Hard enough time navigating through the daily adventures, don't want to do it in a state of altered consciousness.

I do not do for recreation just medical reasons. IMHO a lot better than getting strung out on legal meds.

Yep it is more potent than the stuff we used to get. One of the reasons I only take one or 2 hits at a time maybe 4 to 6 hits total spread out over 18 holes. That and the CBD helps the pain and calms my nerves which got messed up due to my accident--- I only do about 1/4 of the gummies at the time maybe a half one  all day total if having a bad day. I can feel it now and the WC verifies it we are going to get a lot of rain around 2:00 today. Several dirt tracks in the upstate of SC have already cancelled events for this weekend. The way it is looking I think our events at the course may be cancelled too. Supposed to have the shootout and a 9 and dine. I have had several folks call me wanting me on their team for the shootout. I did commit to one team IF it is not CPO only. I can not do CPO for both the shootout and 9 and dine yet. I know some of the guys that live away from the beach and have houses here are not coming down due to the weather. I think that is why there is a "scramble" before hand to get teams put together early. I know the early team I comitted to Wednesday that guy lives in NC full time and he called me last night and said he would not be coming down due to the weather. I think they were slack on teams anyhow. Last week they kinda shunned us and had some kind of corporate tournament. That ticked some guys off and they played at other courses and said they may not play at our course for a while. Me I was kinda on the fence so to speak I know the course needs to make money sometimes outside sources to keep our membership rates reasonable etc. There must be some rumbling because one of the investors called me this week and asked if I was pissed off. I told him not really I know they need to make some outside money.

Yup.  The opioids are bad news.  I remember when #2 son broke his collarbone in a skiing accident and the attending doc gave him a script for them.  He was in so much pain that nothing would work to dull it.  The opioids made him violently ill which just made the pain even worse due to the wretching. 😖

When I fractured and gashed my ankle in '17, after hours in the emergency room being fixed and stitched, they gave me a shot of morphine for pain.  Within a half hour, the room started spinning and became terribly nauseous.  Told the Mrs. to wheel be outta there.  Had to get some space and air.  Sitting in the hallway, a nurse came by saying I couldn't sit there, had to go back into the room.  Told her in no uncertain terms (was more than agitated by then), either wheel me all the way outside the hospital or leave me alone.  I'm wasn't sitting in the room any longer.  Dealing with the morphine was worse than the ankle.  Had the Mrs. pull over on the trip home because I was going to hurl.  

 

Was given a script for some type of heavy duty pain med.  Never filled it.  Let's see how this goes the first day, then the next.  Managed.  Popping ibuprofens.  Felt if this is the worst that it will be, I can deal with it.  A whole lot better than dealing with nausea.

I've had a fair bit of oral surgery in recent years dealing with periodontal issues.  My doc never prescribed anything for pain saying that codeine was more harm than the worth.  He always advised to front run a procedure with an extra strength Advil and then alternate with extra strength Tylenol every 4 hours.  It's off label but I found that it worked even for an area as sensitive as your mouth.  I would sleep a lot and within three or four days I was off everything and feeling okay.

I am a realistic happy warrior ! Dont have any  ideas of maybe shooting in the 60's and am just

entirely happy to be on the course and playing the game ! And at the end of the day, i sometimes

keep score and i was right. No where near the 60's !

On the now legal drug topic, i fall into Rad's area of  an old fuddyism.   No use of it.. Never have and never will. I saw too many guys and gals whose life was forever altered by the stuff. Some people could handle it, others not so much. So, I am happy being an old Tylenol guy. Doc won't allow Ibuprofin .

we live on a hill so it wont get here..saw on the news where the main road had 6inches of 

water  ..cars stranded....normal silly people trying to drive 50mph in 6 inches of standing water...lol

Not a one word "fuddyism" but for me it is a general attitiude best described as this "Retired getting old and hurt all the time so I do not give 2 hoots so do not mess with me".  But to be honest I have accepted it and relish in it.

That exact same thing happens here everytime we get high water--- The news media has to constantly remind people not to drive into standing water---- They will put up barricades in bad areas which all the locals know anyhow-- In the last 5 years or so they have had to post Police Officers at the barricades. As one of my cop buddies said " barricades and signs do no good they just remove them or drive right by them and it is not just tourists it is some locals too" I guess common sense is a thing of the past.
