😄 Funny!  I have an older friend I bump into at the Black Cat.  His humor got locked into the Carson, Jack Benny, Groucho era.  He even does the "drumbeat" thing after a one liner.  Where is that from?

Technically, not really a rimshot. 

 

A rimshot is a snare drum strike where you catch both the hoop or rim of the snare and the head at the same time - produces a louder note with a bit more crack to it.

 

I kinda love em; especially with my "gamer" snare; a 20lb hunk of rolled stainless steel with thick wood hoops. Sounds like a blast from a 12g shotgun 😁

Otherwise yeah, old Vaudeville thing. It's just a slow flam or rL pattern with some swing - cymbal crash is optional. The above noted rimshot on the accent gives it more character. 

 

When I do it; usually more of a rrL diddle. I'm fancy like that.

Good to know. If we move there part time (still a very steep uphill climb w Mrs T), its good know when to be out of there. 
 

Two sons visiting. Mountain bike ride this morning. Nap by the pool in afternoon with storms on western horizon. Grilling filets and corn tonight.

if you’re done by 10:30 or 11am, its fine. it’s hotest about 5pm.

 

playing just after noon on wednesday. take 3 water bottles, a gatorade, and a frozen hand towel in a baggie to put in the cooler full of ice.

 

i drink enough so i have to pee. good system for me.

 

but it’s not going to be 115°. that’s when afternoons are iffy.

 

nothing cools me off better than a freezing cold towel on the neck and head every few holes.

november thru april is sublime, though.

 

only negative is the water. absolutely need a reverse osmosis, preferably whole house. tap water is 3rd-world undrinkable. mexico is probably better. 🙂

 

lots of trees here. they have aggressive roots to get to water and invade/break through the water lines everywhere. the water is filled with organics from that and heavy chlorine is used to kill as much as possible.

 

that and the minerals make it feel like you’d be drinking gravely chlorine.

 

i don’t even get ice in drinks from restaurants or fast food places. same as in china, you don’t know if it’s been filtered or not. and you can’t trust them to maintain it if they have a filtration system.

Ah, I never put ice IN my drinks. I don't like them diluted. I just pour my cold drinks into

my 20 OZ Contigo and it keeps them ice cold for a long time. I've even left that thing in

a hot car for more than an hour and have come back and my drink is still ice cold.

 

And yes, I take it with me everywhere; even into fast food places. No one has ever said

a word about it. 

 

And ice cold towels are awesome!  I don't carry them myself but when we play at the

RTJ Trail in the hot season the marshals ride around and pass out ice cold towels to

everyone 2-3 times during a round. They are the real deal pause that refreshes.

I wouldn't get carried away about the IQ's at the Trail, lol.

 

They got new carts and some genius mapped out to the micrometer where those carts 

are allowed............and where they are not but.............no one tells you where and it's not 

just the normal places you would expect to be on or off limits.

 

If you unknowingly take the cart into a forbidden area, the forward switch is disabled

and the cart will only work in reverse until you exit the forbidden area..... and now an 

unknown cushion around it too. You may be driving backwards for awhile in some cases.

 

After your tee shots, if you leave the cart path prior to the starting of the fairway cut

you will get shut down and have to back up back onto the cart path......so if someone

tops a tee shot they have to walk to their ball..........perhaps a deserved outcome but

irritating nevertheless and time consuming. 

 

All of us know these courses well and yet we still end up driving backwards from time

to time. It must be really crazy for golfers from out of town.

they could make the software warn you with a countdown in yards if you’re getting close to a boundary.

 

i’m always thinking too much. you know, anticipating things…

you’ll probably see it in about 10 years.

Rad, I had the same experience with these new forward disabling carts at an exclusive TPC course in Ohio last month.  We had to go in reverse at least a dozen times during the round.  Took us 6 hours to play 18 with the course practically deserted.

 

Needless to say we will not be back.

Re: Trail - we played Grand National last fall and their cart map GPS screens clearly showed the “do not drive” areas in outlined white lines.  They mean it too!  Give it a wide berth.
