She was running in the early morning hours with her racing friends and twisted it in a small hole in the street. So it will be at least 6 weeks before she can even try to run on it again, maybe longer. In a boot, on crutches, I feel really bad for her since it's running season, plus she's had to take off work, and since she works with little ones, that's been tough for her too as she loves her job. At least she gets to go back to work tomorrow on light duty...

Sorry to hear that, Sixty. My two teeth are a minor setback. Wishing the wife a speedy recovery.

Got my temporary caps on Monday, was in the dentist's chair for two hours. No complaints, though, will get my permanents August 19. Dentist is going on vacation.

Have had Ginger all week. She's a doll, but she's a bit under the weather. Seems to developed a bladder infection, blood in her urine. Took her to the vet yesterday. He prescribed antibiotics, and wants more tests next week, when the "parents" will be home. Also, been seeing Penny every day. Two dogs is too much. I golfed yesterday, and the missus said all the dogs did was whine, missing me.

Ginger hasn't had one minute away from me or the missus.

Nice to be loved, though.

Wow, very sorry to hear that, also. I wish a speedy recovery.

As I said, my problems are petty.

If Luke and Laura show up we'll ask Gus, Tammy and Cyndy

Not much to do tonight as we are home from supper with no TV or internet service to entertain us.

@tolmij was right in appraising the size of the job as we have over 150 boxes of 2 cu. ft. equivalent. Don't know what we're going to do with it all. I guess I'll have to give more stuff away! ?

Mrs. scotee fell into a ditch last week and jammed her toes. May be broken. Black and blue and swollen. Very painful for a couple of days but getting better. Sorry about all the bad stuff. We need some get well cards. How about this one?

It seems the longer you stay put in one place the more you

accumulate. Other than childhood, the longest I've lived

anywhere is the 15 years we have now lived in this house

in Alabama......and boy are we doing some accumulatin'!!

All the many moves over the years have provided many

opportunities to get rid of the excesses. If I/We had lived in

one house all these years I simply could not fathom how

much stuff we would have.

As it is what has piled up over the past 15 years is bad

enough, lol.

I've been watching and listening to a B-17 and B-25 bomber flying right over my house. We missed a big fly in air show 2 weeks ago that had at least a dozen old planes. Very cool to see and hear these old girls (can I say that?) still flying.

When you think back to what they did with these very basic models, it’s a wonder they ever arrived back home.

So, son is out of action, he will be arriving home Sunday evening around 8 30. Normally the jobs around the garden are divided but with his skiing accident it’s my turn in everything. Today was a rough day, chain saw then split firewood, stake tomato plants, prepare for the grass cutting. This is very unusual in winter but it has been very wet and so the grass is growing almost as fast as summer. Plenty of weeding and a fair bit of overgrown ground we were going to do next week. Ah well it will take a little longer but I will get it all done eventually. The good thing is I am still able get stuck in and do it all.

He will now be off work for a while as travelling into the city on the train will not be an option, as the majority of his job is programming he can at least work from home. Happy days ahead. Have a good weekend Grillers, and let’s think of Sco with his move and all the Grillers with medical issues.

big scramble event here today. I am going over to watch. Will sit on the hill above the Par 3 12th. Should be some good players going thru, and I know how difficult that hole is from the tee I play(175) and they are two tees back from me, at 225. Hell, i'd be lucky to hit driver on from back there !

Several years ago I tried to hit a 4 wood on a green from that distance,

over water. I hit 3 in the drink and gave up, lol. All 3 shots looked good

in the air..............until they splashed short of the green.

There's a par 4 on the Lake Course in Opelika that curves around

a lake. You can play it safe and go around the water............or for

fun, from the white tees, it's a about a 260 yard shot to the green

and about 240 to reach the bank in front. I managed to get one

to the bank but it rolled back into the water anyway. I was much

younger then, hahaha.

When a buddy and I played Rochelle Ranch in Rawlins, WY, there was

a par 4 there just like that one. I forget how far it was directly over

the water but I think it was around 250 or so. I gave it a rip and I made

it onto the other side in the rough beside the green and was able to

chip it close and make a bird.

That was a long time ago, I think around 2007 or so. I was younger and

the ball carries well 6000 feet up!

You know, now this has me thinking.......since we're in a bit of a lull

with some Grillsters occupied elsewhere.........anyone have any good/

funny personal golf stories? I'm sure at our age and all the years

playing there are many that could be told of various exploits and

foibles!..........and bragging is allowed.....passive, overt or otherwise

as it's all in good fun.

Was playing in a yearly outing, money to charity type. Well,a lot of guys were ,shall we say, having a few along the way.

We were sitting on the tee, waiting to hit,on a Par 4,all down hill. We had a clear view of the fairway, and these two guys got out of the cart, and one was taking his pre shot moves, when their cart started rolling. We could see it from way up on the hilltop, but they apparently did not notice it until it had a real good start off to their left side. They took off after the cart, gaining on it,until it came to the REALLY steep area, and it took off, with one guy falling

and rolling down the hill,. Ended up the cart in the pond, one guy with a bruised arm,the other almost had a stroke from the run,and twelve guys from around the course rolling on the ground laughing !

I was playing with some buds once and I had about a 100 yard approach

shot to the green in front of me. To the right was water. I shanked my

shot into the water and it hit a rock that was sticking up and bounced

onto the green, where I 2 putted for par. Probably the ugliest par I ever

made.

That’s 13, I think, about 230 to clear, at altitude (close enough to 7000 feet as no matter), with a bit of tee elevation. A hole that really encourages you to go for it as playing to the right is no bargain. I had the same outcome with a chip from the greenside rough to the left. I really like that course, will be there in a couple of weeks.

Conrad, no such thing as an ugly par. They are all beautiful and should be accepted as earned. Pity you did not get it on video, it would look nice on the Grille wall.

My buggy took off one day but I was fast enough to catch it, made me check the brake several times before I walked away afterwards. A failure to stop it would have been wet.

Anyone lost a ball when they were certain where it landed. Son and I were playing a dead straight par 5. His tee shot was also straight and down the middle. Having played the course many times we knew where the ball had stopped but after a good 10 mins could not find it. Never happened before or since.
