Here in the north talking golf seems to be the best tonic when you can't play it. Also, some of the issues that various folks are dealing with right now will hopefully be over or at the least, waning in terms of the amount of attention that is demanded.

There's a carload of items waiting by the door and a bottle of sparkling chilling for the celebration. We're picking up a couple of carpets that we had sent out for cleaning and repair, so they will be the first items to grace the halls of our new abode once we get the awaited call to pick up the keys.

However those that know me will realise that's a bit of a fool's errand as I'm always switching out one thing or another. It's a bit of a miracle that I lasted effectively a half season -- that sounds much better than 7 games -- without making a switch.

They're lighter than the TM's, so I have to take my time with them and not get too quick, but I'm wondering if the lighter weight from the graphite shaft might by just a touch easier on the old body. Nothing ventured, nothing gained; right?

Congrats @scomac2002 on the new place! With some luck we will close on the rental house sale mid August. But that's what we thought last time. We can't possibly have a double jinx can we?

Mid winter here and tomatoes are growing. We put the bits from cooking in the chicken food, moved the house months ago and the tomato seeds have now started growing, set fruit on them now all we have to do is protect them from the scrub turkeys that come looking for food every day

Tell Mrs scotee one of those will do on two slices of bread and two rashers of bacon. They look nice and ripe ready to eat.

After our talk about our being monitored by the computer/TV camera ,i had to laugh at the new

HP computer commercial. They are pushing the new feature they have added......it will

completely disable the camera until you re-load it. Sorta makes it seem as if being watched is really happening.

The only time I have seen my camera come on is when I Skype or FaceTime with the kids and grandkids. The green light comes on. Is there a way someone could turn it on without the light coming on? It would be pretty boring watching me. I don't do any book keeping of banking on my computer. I would fear more a hostage virus. But even there it would be an inconvenience more than a serious privacy issue.

Golfing today. Hope to get a good 18 in . The heat wave is getting here tomorrow thru

Sunday, with forecasts in the 99 to 103 range. Thats TV time for this ole man !

Re-bagged my Bobby Jones hybrid,22*,same length as my one length irons. It actually fell

right into the place of a long 5 or almost a 4. First one I have ever used that wasn't automatically BIGGLY LEFT ! It will go there too if i get lazy, but mostly decent.

Watching a little of the open...wanted to see how Tiger got started. Man, someone needs to tell Jacobson to tone it down and it may be just myself, but they seem to just be saying stuff to hear themselves talk. They just told us that someone Tigers age cannot play well in that cold(64)

weather. They said older guys are at a big disavantage. And NOW we know !

younger relatives who put all their info out there. Their whole life is on FB. I am on FB too..when I want to play ZYNGA Texas Hold'em Poker lol That is the extent of my FB.

I do banking on my computer. For that kind of thing I switch

to an encrypted browser and I've yet to have a problem.

My security software blocks anyone from collecting data on

me or using the webcam etc.. They also provide the encrypted

browser and also a stealth mode if I want to go on the web

undetected.

I must be living in a bubble this summer, lol............the Web.com

tour is now the Korn Ferry Tour???

I looked up Korn Ferry; some consulting firm in L.A.....I was hoping

for something more interesting than that. I think I rode the Korn

Ferry from Omaha to Council Bluffs back in '74.

This morning I went out front to cut up some wood for the log splitter, chain saw was working really well then it stopped, me thinking it had run out of fuel I refill it, does not restart, several attempts it would not start, this is a chain saw that always starts first pull when it is warm. Check fuel flow, nothing coming through, primer bulb remains empty, check filters, need cleaning, no blockage in the carburettor, spark plug clean, still no fuel coming through. Fed up go and have lunch, back to it after. Son pokes in his nose, are you sure you put petrol in, yes I respond. I take off the petrol cap to show him it is full, that’s petrol he asked, yes I respond now getting a bit touchy.............

A few seconds pass and he is laughing at me, you put the fuel in the oil tank, when I look I had.

That has to be the most stupid, idiotic, downright silly silly thing I have ever done. Drained the tank, refilled with chain bar oil, re filled the petrol tank and away she went.

Definitely, without any doubt, getting old and past it.???

I am, at the moment I'm doing the finishing touches on setting this laptop up, then it will be getting rid of all the trash to make sure DW is happy with moi, the little mess maker...Nice to have a reliable machine again.

So, my prediction of several weeks ago of Tommy Fleetwood winning The Open, at least he's not below the cut line, many guys doing well, many surprises doing not well, we'll see what pans out...

Just a normal summer day down here, hahaha.

We just had a big T-Storm roll through and dump buckets of rain.

Only supposed to be 89 degrees here tomorrow and 50% rain. It

got over 100 degrees yesterday, not heat index.....real temp.....at

least according to our own backyard thermometers.

I lived in south Florida for one summer many years ago and it's

much worse there than anywhere else I've lived. Daytime highs

in the low 90s and nighttime lows in the high 80s with humidity

80-90 percent...............a perpetual steam bath.........day and night.

When I started my car in the morning the AC would fill the inside

of the car with fog until it could finally dry out the air a little.

That’s also our summers and we would not have it any other way, love the heat, hate the cold. We are currently running between 45-75 and that is our normal winter. Son is going skiing next week and it is below freezing day and night, I tell him he is mad calling that fun.

When I was a skier I loved that cold weather too. It preserves the snow

and keeps it in better condition to ski on. Daytime highs in the 20s F and

nighttime lows in the high single digits to low teens.

In the northern hemisphere, ski areas typically face north to minimize

exposure of the slopes to direct sunlight.

Avid skiers will tell you that the condition of the snow is a big deal. Temps

above freezing and/or excess exposure to direct sunlight will turn light

powdery snow into icy crusty cement as the snow thaws and refreezes

day after day.

Looks great. I've been eating pretty much veggies and fruit and occasional chicken on the air fryer (with spritz of avocado oil only) and today I have officially lost 25 pounds. Feeling really great with bp 112/62, resting pulse at 62, now if I could just get golf index at scratch, hahaha...

Here's one for the books.

Yesterday morning, I'm out at the course, my usual solo game, early to beat the heat. Skipping around, there's a few twosomes due to the Friday BOGO deal. 2 golfers and cart, $9 for nine holes. So, I'm playing the eighth hole for the second time. I tee off, pretty good shot. My usual routine is to use the club to lift the strap of my Sunday bag, so i don't have to bend. I put my driver in the bag, as I have my bag slung on my shoulder. I'm putting the headcover on, as I walking, and somehow, somehow, the driver head bobbles around, and smacks me right in the two front teeth. Spitting pieces like the Three Stooges.

Horrified, i walk to the clubhouse to assess the damage. Both top front teeth are chipped badly. I drive home, and the wife finds me a dentist, not an easy task. She called many before finding one to see me. Most are not even there on Fridays, the others, not available, not taking patients, etc. Sad.

So, I get to the dentist before 1:00pm. An x ray is taken, two front teeth need caps. The dentist, and older guy, in his 60's, seems quite amused, and proceeds to ask me about my golf, the Open, etc. Starts to regale me with stories about how he got a 120 at Oakmont, etc. This guy talks about the Open, and how Tiger didn't make the cut, etc. Asks about my game, told the truth, that I'm in the low to mid 40's for nine holes. Asks about the offending driver, to which I tell him it was a fifteen year old Ram 460 titanium. He tells me that it must be old, for Ram doesn't make clubs anymore. I tell him that my Callaway shaft broke a month or so ago. THIS GUY KNOWS GOLF. Tells me pros that played Ram clubs.

Anyhow, he perfunctatorily looked into my mouth, and left. Some lady comes in and gives me a suggested treatment. They need $1476 to cap the two front teeth. I give her plastic, and am scheduled Monday afternoon for initial work. I'll pay the card bill when it comes in.

I really feel sorry for those who don't have the money to get necessary work done. I've never been lacking for cash, due to my frugal nature, although my Mom always said, "All he does is throw money away." I'm laughing, thinking of her telling my Uncle Charlie.

Wish they were still around.

Today, Ginger, the Dodge neighbors Golden Retriever is coming to stay, while the family is on vacation in Erie, PA. The neighbor told me, that the body guy has had the Dodge for a month now, and hasn't been able to start the paint and body work. Too many collisions and such. I told my neighbor that it would be counter productive to raise heck about it.

So, anyhow, the adventures of Western Pennsylvania continue.

Florida like weather here for the past week; hot, humid and like the proverbial steam bath. The clubhouse manager likes to tell me that humidity is good for you. This coming from a relocated Floridian herself. I ask her for what? All I can tell is that whenever I leave a building or my car, my glasses fog up!

Torrential rains yesterday with heavy winds. No reports of tornadoes, but we definitely had a wind sheer or something else as there are trees down all over the place. Power was out for several hours yesterday afternoon. My son and DIL are home for the weekend, so he helped me clean up the biggest limbs that we dragged to a burn pile with the tractor. There's still a helluva mess to deal with and a few flowering shrubs that will have to be removed as all the main stems broke off. Probably the worst tree damage i've experienced since the ice storm of '92. Cousin on the next concession had a tree down on his house. Another neighbour down the road had a tree come down and punched a hole in their roof that had water gushing in. Pretty much a state of emergency in our little hamlet of Binbrook! Lots of random posts on FB speaking of widespread damages.

Ouch, dentists are expensive the world over. We are lucky as being on a government pension we have completely free dental work. The local hospital has a dental clinic where any treatment can be obtained, apart from implants. If they are full and urgent work is required they let you use a private firm and send you a voucher for the work. There are some restriction, such as normal appointments they can only work on one tooth, more than that requires a special visit and usually requires a waiting period. All up it’s a good system and works well, especially as the cost is zero.

Very silly son has departed for his holiday in the snow, he will be there by now. Having lived in the UK and been snowed in for days at a time, I never want to see it again. Very content in my semi tropical environment.

This coming from a relocated Floridian herself. I ask her for what? All I can tell is that whenever I leave a building or my car, my glasses fog up!

We're between properties at the moment. We took possession of the new house on Wednesday and will be moving for good this coming Friday. Took a trailer load down yesterday and had a bit of a work bee at the new place. Got to meet one neighbour, a lovely older lady who lives alone. She told me all about the people that lived in the house before us. We are the forth tenants in 40 years.

Got back to the farm and put in a couple of hours worth of work to clean up the mess from the storm. We're in pretty good shape now, but have a bit of trimming to do with a chain saw to smooth things up and deal with a couple of potential problems. That will be done today and then we can return our focus to the move.

Our sateillte TV got taken out during the storm and we can't get anyone to work on it until a week after we move. It's almost like a series of time bombs have gone off in the last few days before we go...
