Sooo I Switched to Graphite Iron Shafts..

And so far, so good. Always played stiff in my irons but this year my right shoulder has decide it's had enough of that crap. Not enough to keep from playing (Berger, take a hint), but enough to convince me it's time to re-assess. Found a sweet set of Wilson C100's with Aldila RIP 75s in R and I'm really liking the results. Took a minute to get used to tempo with the lighter weight but I've found it easier to just swing smooth and hit the shot. Ball flight is similar for me, no real distance differences form the XR Pros I was playing. Just more consistent contact and a nice swoosh through the ball.

I've cut way back on range time, but these irons are consistent enough that I have a reasonable idea of what the shot will do without sharpening the saw. And my shoulder thanks me. It was just time to do something, I'm 56 with all the usual wear and tear. Glad I made the switch.

Anyone else?

Same here too. Just made the switch this past year when I got fitted for clubs. I went from S300s to Recoils.

Easiest and best switch ever. So much easier on elbows and shoulders and performance is fantastic. For what it's worth I'm 41 years young.

Yep, I figured it was time this year to give graphite a shot. I was gaming Ping S55 with KBS Tour stiff and wanted a little more forgiveness and found a set of Ping i E1 irons with Recoil 110s here, so they are in the bag. So far they have been good, scores about the same right off the bat, which I hope will get better as I settle into the new irons or I'll be happy with more consistency.

I made the switch a couple of years ago when I ordered my i25's. TFC 189's in regular for the Pings coming from various iterations TTDG in either R300 or S300. Went with graphite to help deal with a couple of serious bouts of tendinitis. I'm satisfied that they have helped out in that regard. I'm 57.

It took a while to get used to the lighter weight/swing weight, but now they are very comfortable to hit. My moderns split time with a vintage set with Precision FM 5.5's, but they haven't seen much action lately. Switching back and forth takes a bit of an adjustment, but it's not too bad as I generally play pretty good the first time out after a switch.

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

Steelfibers rock! They've had the same product for years and it still performs very well. Recoils were also very nice, but a tad more spinning that the SF.

I wrecked my right wrist in a bicycle crash several years ago, and when I finally recovered enough to play golf again that wrist just couldn't endure a round with the stiff steel shafts in my old Titleist 981s. I switched to G25s with R flex TFC189s and have never looked back (and have never had to ice my wrist after a round since the switch).

I'm about to make the switch again. Played some recoils, but went to dg r300. My left elbow hurts during and after every round. Really dampened my desire to play. I'm going to test Wishon s2s white and black, axe tour 95, and Rogue pro 85s in the Wishon 565mc and 979ss.

Really hope this works.

I just built a set of Wishon 979ss irons and a 775hs hybrid, all with Aldila Vs Proto 100 x stiff shafts. So far, I am really liking this setup. They feel great and the distance and trajectory is very similar to DG. Not to mention the Wishon heads are spectacular. I would like to say they'll be in the bag for a while, but as much as I've been ho'ing this year, it's hard to say.

I switched 4-5 years ago due to elbow tendonitis. I don't see myself ever going back to steel; no reason to. Graphite iron shafts have improved so much that they perform as consistently as steel with less stress on the joints.

I actually started backwards I guess you could say. I bought my first set of clubs when I was 16 from a play and trade sports, a no name complete set with graphite shafts. I didn't really know anything about golf equipment, except that I loved to play! Several years after that my older brother gave me a set of Adams Idea A4 irons with stock Matrix Studio 84 graphite shafts in stiff flex. Played those for several years until I recently bought my current set of Irons with steel shafts. My wrists and right elbow killed me for about the first 10-15 rounds. I haven't noticed any pain the last several rounds though. I'm only 28 and would consider going back to graphite on my next set without hesitation. I noticed no difference in playability, other than the initial pain with the new steel shafts.
