MEMBER REVIEWS: Mitsubishi TENSEI CK Pro White shafts.

Recommended Posts

So unfortunate that a beloved model like the Tensei Orange won't be mass produced. Everyone loves it. Same story with tour issue putter models.

Its becoming a very frustrating pattern. I will email Diamana (probably won't change anything) BUT I suggest that many do the same. Lets try to get this mass released?

There is a good chance that the V3 model that Fowler uses may see production. V2 will not.

Hey man would you know difference between v2 and V3. Thanks you're a legend

The V3 is what Mitsubishi originally intended when they started the profile. It is a counterbalanced tensei pro white profile, with almost the exact launch and spin properties. It is, however, a bit faster and not quite as stiff feeling.

I wrote Mitsubishi and they contacted me back stating the Orange V3 will be released to the public this upcoming Spring. As for if it will be the same characteristics of V2, I lean on the expertise of Tollbros as he knows all about these shafts.

We have hit and tested V3. It's an awesome shaft. Anyone who loves Tensei Pro White but wants a little more weight in the handle and a little softer feel will love V3. V3 is what the profile was always intended to be. V2 just happened to be a gem, found through the testing process, but that didn't stop Mitsubishi from pursuing and eventually achieving, exactly the profile they sought to create.

used my proto white this Saturday in a Polar Open -- it didn't get over 33* the whole round. snowed for 6 holes but no accumulation. balls bounced off greens.

but there were two things that were hot that day --- my driver and 3w.

the tensei white and pro blue were unreal all day. missed 2 fairways b/c of going through corners -- but other than that they couldn't have been better. great to see real-world performance versus just in the simulator.

the white had a noticeably flatter, mid/low flight for me that just wanted to go laser straight. very little draw or fade on the ball.

the pro blue in the 3w was controllable either way (draw or cut) and also held a line very well in some breeze.

both shafts gave me some roll-out (but could've been due to the frozen tundra), but when i put a good swing on the driver, the ball just wouldn't stop rolling. On a par 5 that we eagled, the hole measured 535y, and my drive put us 169 from the pin.

I love reading all of these reviews. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. I really want to test one of these shafts out, but before I go dropping a lot of dimes, could anyone tell me how it stacks up against a Matrix SpeedRulz C type? It seems like they potentially have the same launch and spin characteristics, with the Tensei being a little less spinning. Bend profile is kind of similar, the Tensei might have a stronger mid section too. But if anyone has any experience with both shafts, I'd greatly appreciate their input.

Can speak on Speed Rulz Type C 70X. Probably the smoothest low/low shaft I've played. Its neither super low-spin nor super low flight, it's in between in both regards. The butt section is on the softer end for its category, decent kick, firm tip (I left mine untipped). It kind of feels like an OG Whiteboard to me. Fantastic anti-left shaft, tried in several heads.

In comparison, I would expect the Tensei White to be a little bit tighter profile overall and with slight but noticeable lower spin/lower flight

would agree -- but i'll say this -- if you can't or have a tough time getting the rulz type c over 2500 spin -- you won't get the tensei over 2k.

I was looking back at review threads and saw those when Mitsubishi sent out blue tensei for membership reviews.

Yep! We got those and a white shirt with the black Tensei writing. Been asked about where I got the shirt twice since getting it, which was shocking given how few people in my area tend to know brand specific names like that.

Does anyone have any experience with the Tensei CK Pro White vs Oban Kiyoshi White. I love how smooth my Oban can feel but would love to bring the launch angle down a touch. I currently play SLDR 430 11' set at standard Oban Kiyoshi 04 75 at 44.5". SS ranges 107-112. Misses are typically slight pull and if I miss my draw are dead straight in set up line; i.e.: right of center.

SS varies 5mph? That's quite a bit. But anyways, you could bring launch down by dropping the loft 1*, which will also open the face, could help with pulls and create a truer straight flight. Kiyoshi white is the epitome of smooth. 65 05 tipped 0.5-1" would be your boom stick. Try to trade your shaft for a 65 05 if possible? Or sell and replace. Pro white is awesome but a different profile all together. Pro Blue is closer to the Oban White imo

SS is a little lower right now. Not sure if it's due to winter. But my "normal season" SS is 112. Thanks for the advice. Will look into selling and getting a 05 75 and will crank down the face.

You wanna get the 75 eh, for the heft? The 65 is raw 72grams. 75 is 81grams pretty heavy for driver

I think you'd be better served with the 65 05 in driver. 75 models in oban are usually better served in fairways, personal opinion, longtime oban user.

Very interested in this comparison as well. There was a lot of Tensei White hype early on but haven't found much recent discussion. Are people still gaming and loving this one?

Saw Duval rocking that combo - may have to throw one in the LTD black and see. Seems like everyone is doing the 70 gram rather than 60 but they are almost 10 grams heavier than listed.

The shafts are not even the same profile. The AD TP is a mid-high launch shaft with low spin. The White is a low-mid launch with low spin.

I still have the Tensei White in play, and plan on gaming it in 2017. Although I got it at the end of our season and it was put in a new head, the 917 D3. It was the straightest setup I've had, but....not the longest (I am almost certain its the head). But there are tons of variables, the D3 was used in cold weather (low 40's plus wind chill, and soft conditions). I was playing the Ahina for about 2 years prior, but the "feel" of the Tensei is better. Comparing the launch and spin, I cant comment on because the SLDR 430 vs D3 is quite different, and I don't have a LM to compare it on either.

I love the feel, and consitency, and everything. So I just picked up an M1 430 to see if the D3 results roll over, but in a lower spinning head. I'm hoping M1 plus Tensei will give that conistency of D3 but the distance of the M1/SLDR. I'm thinking of picking up Club Conex adapters to have some true on course testing between the SLDR/M1 430, and D3 in the exact same shaft.

In conclusion I really like the shaft and can't see it going anywhere anytime soon.

Just my $.02

I finally got a chance to try this shaft. I've now played an original whiteboard, an Ahina, a W series, and D+ first gen, and D+ second generation. I have to say that I"m in love. I currently have been using an OG whiteboard in stiff tipped 1" and I've struggled with the lefts lately. I have always been a player who hit a soft draw and since I have it in an M1, with it set just slightly to fade. I was not hitting it well today at all. I get to the back nine and decided to give the Tensei a go. It's a 60 TX untipped. The first shot was a baby fade and so I move the weight one click to draw and it was a monster. I saw places on the course today I've never seen before and it was point and click straight. I went from nervous to extremely confident instantly. Let's hope it's not a honeymoon.

Still a little unsure about these because of the butt-heavy balance but decided to pull the trigger on a Pro White. Have to admit this thread (along with some others) heavily influenced this decision. Can't wait to give it a go.

BTW, how much weight did you guys need to add to your heads to maintain the same balance/feel? Seems the heavier butt-section is more obvious in the Orange, but some seem to have experienced this with the White also.
