That is true, and I guess it is possible that it COULD be the same one, I just don't see that. I see it more like the HZRDUS T800 that's used in the Callaway Epic. Looks a lot like the expensive T1100 tour shaft, and made with similar tech, but not the quite the same. Made more for average golfers/swingspeeds. That's what the fact that PING is listing it only in R and S flex tells me at least. If this was tour caliber, I would think there would be X flexes listed, as PING does with their "Tour" shaft, the HZRDUS Yellow, and the Kuro Kage they are using. Just my opinion though from conversations with my rep.

It's not. The Handcrafted model is a yellow body with contrasting"HZRDUS". This model is similar to the TaylorMade version in that it's black with yellow "HZRDUS" logo. Which I think is also the paint scheme of the tour model HZRDUS Yellow.

I know this is a redundant question but I haven't followed Ping in many years... anyone ever find out what the Tour shaft actually is? I remember years ago folks thought it was an ADDI but haven't followed since those mythical discussions

 

as mentioned above i've been told it's a Chrome elements as well.

Does Ping follow shaft manufacturer's tipping instructions or does what Taylormade does and just tip everything at least 1 inch. I've never been able to get a feel for the KK and only recently found out it's tipped 1inch from the factory.

Well, i just demoed the G400 (std and LST) and while i think it is a beautiful club, the trackman data (with the same exact shaft) didn't show any appreciable difference to warrant a purchase. My G driver was just as good in terms of ball speeds etc.. Sad to report that I'm going to pass on upgrading at this stage. Hope I didn't burst too many bubbles...ymmv.

For me, the standard model had better dispersion. The LST was a bit lower spinning and I already don't spin the ball quite enough with my driver. My SS is around 107 and my ball speed was right around 158-159.

I think this driver will bring in non ping guys, as the smaller head is really nice and the feel is much improved. As for guys already gaming a G, my guess is (assuming you are already well fit) that you may not see any major gains. The look and feel alone though might be worth the upgrade to some.

Thanks for the report. I've been a Ping fan going back to the Eye 2's but haven't gotten along with their drivers since the G15. Look enormous and sound bad to me. But with the smaller head I am ready to go get fit Monday and am really hoping for an improvement in the acoustics. was there much difference soundwise compared to your G? Also what shaft did you try?

The Tour shaft is a variation of the Elements Chrome from UST. It most closely matches the Chrome Plus.

I can't do it Chavez. The mental block, the appearance framing the ball, it just looks absurd. Obviously they work. Not used to it yet.

 

Your loss, no one else is stressing out over it.

If the crown of the G or G400 bother you I can't see an M1 or M2 being any consolation prize.

Got to hit some of the demo stuff yesterday. My thoughts...

 

Driver -- Holy crap. I didn't get a chance to hit it on our launch monitor but it seemed to fly off the face. Feel and sound are miles ahead of my G. Seemed higher launching than my 9* G (I hit the 8.5 LST) and flew forever. I'm going to try to get some launch monitor data today to back all this up.

 

3 wood -- Honestly wasn't hitting it that well. Hit my G more consistently and I prefer the shape of my G to the shape of the fairway. G400 seems a lot rounder, but the feel and sound were nice. Off the deck and off the tee maybe small gains over the G for me.

 

Hybrids -- Look good, didn't hit them though.

 

Really want a chance to hit the new Crossover as I play the G crossover now but we didn't get one of those in with our demo stuff.

The Tour 65/80 shaft is made by UST and is very similar to their Elements Chrome with a little softer tip and slightly lighter. This was per Danny Li at UST.

Wouldn't hurt to give them a call, but we got ours yesterday. I would imagine that Ping got the demo material out in plenty of time for accounts to be ready to go Monday.

Thanks, didn't want to be a bother as I know they are mobbed on the weekends. Looking to displace my Cleveland Classic XL, but like others have experienced, it starts playing lights out the more I watch this thread. It has a Kuro Kage in it now so should make comparing the two even easier.
