I will say, Chris Paul was awesome yesterday. I am pretty sure Harden went to Starbucks in the second half yesterday and left a lifelike dummy of his on the court. Chris Paul carried them through the entire third quarter and as mentioned did a good defensive job at times too

The Thunder under-achieved big time and he took a lot of the blame for it, some of that is deserved

 

I'm on the fence. I'm a big Russell homer, his style of play is fairly one dimensional but i still think it could work in this league with the right supporting cast. Carmelo had a terrible year and Roberson's injury hurt.

 

Westbrook with Paul George/Steven Adams and 2 shooters probably has a shot at being a 55-60 win team. We may never find out

 

But his hard headed way of playing doesn't make teammates better. They are kind of along for the ride and have to fit to him.

 

The Blazers actually had a great regular season, so i understand

Injuries for sure... Steph and Cp3 missed more than their fair share of games plus I think a lot more people are starting to see how much Westbrook was stat-hunting otherwise, why wouldn’t he get the MVP this year, too? This is the 2nd year in a row he’s averaged a triple double but you almost never hear is name over Harden, Davis, and Lebron.

Westbrook's shot selection hurts OKC more than stat hunting. The stat hunting has taken on a bit of an internet snowball effect, it's not that big a deal. They clear out so he can get rebounds this has been well documented, but it's hard to argue it hurts the team a lot since OKC is typically one of the best rebounding teams in the league.

 

His shot selection, particularly at crucial points of the game where he'll take long 2's early in the clock without letting anyone else touch the ball...that is what turned a lot of people off. He had more weapons this year but didn't use them enough in some games

 

I probably watched 40 thunder games this year, his shot selection was inexcusable in many games. I actually had no issues with Lillard ahead of him

Agree despite his stats Westbrook would not be the first guard I would pick to improve a team if I was a 6, 7, or 8 seed trying to get in the top4.

0-10 by Rozier on 3 point try. Only person that came to game was Tatum and he was fouled out in the closing.

 

Should have made Tatum run iso the entire game if c’s was going to choke so hard on all their shots.

 

Now I have to listen to ESPN all week telling me this is the greatest achievement of lebron even if he didn’t win a ring. Keep the fake goat narrative going ESPN. Great achievement but the east is the weakest conference in a decade.

 

If a Kyle Korver led Atlanta hawks team was a 1 seed a couple season ago that tells me All I need to know about the east this decade.

 

8 straight final is impressive. I’ll give lebron that. But relax with the goat status.

I think most of the Green Team is satisfied with the big picture outcome for the Celtics. If you’d said at the beginning of the season that you were going to lose in 7 to the Cavs in the Conference Finals, most fans would have been ‘satisfied’ with that outcome. You’ve got Hayward, Kyrie, Horford, a couple young guys on their way up, and LeBron opting out...”we’ll get ‘em next year” would have been the thought.

 

The fact that the same outcome was reached without Hayward and Kyrie? I think people feel really good about the championship window being open for the next 4 or 5 years.

Man I don’t want to say your list is wrong but I can’t imagine starting a team and taking Duncan over LeBron or Magic. This topic has been beat to death at this point but I really do believe Duncan is now overrated because he was underrated.

You can look at stats a lot of different ways. Duncan was a great player but he also had a lot of help. Robinson, Parker, Manu, KL, Pop, all HOF careers and he had them all at some point of their prime.

Does it matter ? He didn’t jump around at his own convenience. He battled and won against the big Aristotle in his prime.

 

Went neck to neck with Steve Nash and dantonio run and gun. He would have won another one if baby Jesus didn’t throw up a Hail Mary or if pop didn’t take him out at the end of the fourth.

 

Outside of Robinson they all became hall of famers because of him. (Let’s not forget He won without manu and Parker).

 

And it is still early to say kL will become a hof.

 

The one thing that was constant was Duncan. You don’t have to agree with me. But his championships and 2 decade of work in the western conference is enough for me to put him ahead of lebron.

I don't think Lebron/Duncan is an argument at this point. It's Lebron 10 times out of 10

 

I'm admittedly a huge Tim Duncan fan as he is my favorite player ever. But i will say until i am blue in the face, we don't value defense enough, even when we think we do. Duncan is the best defensive player of the modern era and second only to Bill Russell in terms of defensive impact on the league. He made 15 all-defensive teams including making one at 39yrs old, and the Spurs were a top 3 defense pretty much every year he played. He guaranteed you that as an agile, rim protecting big man with smarts.

 

If you want to win a championship, its hard to do it without defense. And from 1997-2009 he was 22-12 pretty much.

 

I'll listen to anyone put Duncan on Magic and Bird's level. I think he is. He didn't have either guy's personality but he had a longer career and as bulletproof a reputation as a teammate

I’d grab Duncan over Lebron. Robinson was great. But Tony and Manu HOF? We will have to see. Great players don’t get me wrong but the one X factor for years and years was Duncan. He would go months having a double double every night. He is by far the most underrated player of my life time.

 

And warriors not showing up so far tonight. Too many jump shots. Doesn’t look like the same offense as last year. Maybe they can get hot

I know he won’t leave chasing greener pastures. Can’t say the same about queen James. He did it twice.
