Things that bug me while watching pro golf.

Use of yardage books. Particularly the diagrams of greens when they read putts. Slows down the game and shouldn’t be necessary for pros. Uncertainty is part of putting

Networks thinking that the viewers would like to go up and see the commentators in the booth while they talk about who knows what, while golfers are still on the course playing golf!

The absolute gushing by Golf Channel over Shinnecock. You would think it is golf's version of Valhalla. I get that it's a great course, but please, keep it in perspective.

I've been watching the US open coverage and it seems like on every shot Azinger says "he knew when he hit it it was .............."

Also the same sound of a ball going in a hole every time someone makes a put. Why is that amplified ?

Nantz and generally annoucers talking i could seriously just hear the players mumbling to caddies and id enjoy it more then most of the commentary I hear. I sound really grouchy here but I seriously just dont care about the commentary most the time. I mean if i hear one more dude trying to inform us that Dj is long or Speith has had a hard time putting this year imma lose it.

I like how the stream commentator keeps mentioning that the hamptons is a golfers paradise and that all the courses are so great and a must play without mentioning that it's nigh impossible to get on.

Watching Patrick Reed pull his shirt sleeves up over his shoulders before every shot. Can Nike just make this dude a sleeveless polo please?

 

Also (I may get flamed for this one) it's slightly annoying how golf announcers desperately try to make Harold Varner III happen. He seems like a nice guy and I know why they do it, but he gets coverage waaaay out of proportion to his results. On Thursday he was like +10 and they cut to him hitting his third into the par 5 16th. Since they were showing the shot I figured "Hmpf, must've holed it." But no, it was just a decent little shot about 7 feet away.

I got a laugh this afternoon when Joe Buck was explaining to us how SH is not a links style course and you can't run the ball up onto the green. At that exact moment Poulter hit his 3-wood at the 610 yard par five...and yep it landed well in front of the green and rolled up onto the green. There was a moment of silence and the topic was quickly changed.
