I know the guy is fairly new on tour but a little brushing up on the PGA tour season would reveal to old Pete that he is a winner this year on tour and came close on a couple of other occasions. Ignorance! I am a Sky subscriber but was happy to think that the Beeb would be showing free to air coverage, sadly it has been woeful. You kind of think the presenters are sat in Philip Schofield's old broom cupboard!

Up to a point. There is a fair amount of plain wrong information spouted but it is by far and away better than the BBC, NBC and TGC.

Fair point about golf shots. I am disappointed when we get them and the commentators don't know who's shot it is, what clubs being used or what to say when they hit it.

 

My watching habits are probably different to yours as I generally watch with the sound muted...habit I formed after watching golf on Sky for a few months. I can just about take Ewen Murray and Tony Johnstone (and Radar on the course) but that is my limit.

So reading a bit of background about the BBC deal, it appears that Sky didn't want to pay the PGA of America the amount of money it was asking for and pulled out at the last minute. If the BBC hadn't stepped in, the UK would have had no coverage at all. The footage shown is what the PGA allow to be shown and the BBC didn't have any time to prepare.

 

The shambles is all down to the PGA and we should be thanking the Beeb for at least giving us some golf to watch this weekend!
