P790 UDI's - Any news on these vs the full set p790s?

Mine was delivered yesterday. I went with the X100 shaft since I have a 105x in my old TP UDI 2 that I will be swapping in. I hope to be able to get out and hit it this week and provide feedback. I’ll also grab a side by side with the TP UDI for reference. The 790 UDI is slimmer from the top, which I do like better.

I would like to hear a comparison between the 85 and 105. I doubt I will keep the HZRDUS 85 in it. I have a DI 105x that I was thinking about putting in it. Probably going to pick up a Tensei Pro White at some point.

The hzrdus 85 I had in my M2 LIFT 2 iron and it was okay if I slowed my swing down so that’s why I went with the 105x in my TM UDI 2 iron. I’m debating on going with the tensei pro in the 790 or an atmos black 9x which I swapped into that m2 lift, the atmos was a solid shaft.

Has anyone dropped their 3iron after bagging this?

 

I currently have the 3,4,&5 p790 long irons with Modus 120's and I use my 3iron off the tee more than my driver, plus I can elevate it off the grass as well.. actually it's the longest club after my driver coz I don't carry any woods.

But now I'm wondering if the gap would be too close to keep both the 2udi and 3iron... No doubt the udi is longer off the tee, but maybe off the deck would it be too difficult to use?

 

I guess I could put it up in my stance and hit a fade if I wanted to elevate it with some stopping power?

I dropped my 3 790 now that I have this. May end of dropping the 3 wood as well. Had mine bent 2* strong. We will see. Im excited to pair it with the Tensei Pro.

6.0...6.5 it won’t matter. I had the 6.5 and it just didn’t work.

I have the 85 in 6.5 and really like it after a few sessions. Another poster mentioned that while it launches higher than I expected it doesn’t spin. So I have an easy to hit 2 iron. What’s wrong with that??

I picked one up last night. Hit it on GC2 against my King Utility last night and then at the range today.

 

My take is this:

 

Both are easy to hit.

 

King launches higher, it is 18* w/ Rogue Black vs 17 w/ Hzrdus Black.

 

On GC2 my dispersion was better with P790, on the grass range I learned I need it bent a little more upright.

 

The 790 is 8-10 yards longer, it is 1* stronger and I gained 4mph in ball speed.

 

The Hzrdus 85 is too light, I plan to replace it. I find it easy to lose the head with this shaft and SW of only D2. I have seen people mention the KBS Proto, is it .355?

 

That said, it launches on a mid flight, spins low, and goes long. No complaints about the performance, I just don’t love the feel of the shaft.

Hit my 790 UDI with a Modus 3 120 on the range for the first time today and absolutely love it (although I was a sucker who paid full sticker + overnight shipping even though it was back ordered - whatever - RIP MONEY amirite?). In any case, it was incredibly easy to hit, not intimidating to look down at, and extremely satisfying to hit both off the deck (mats) and off the tee.

 

There's an incredibly good chance that I hit a fairway this Saturday.

I thought the KBS Proto was .370...Not to mention if would seem to launch even higher then the Black 85 if that's a concern.

 

I checked the KBS site, it is listed at .370 only. Higher launch doesn’t bother me at all, I am replacing my hybrid/5w slot with this club so I plan to hit it into greens on occasion. This may be less than once a round but when I do some added height wouldn’t be the worst thing.

 

The only reason I would change the shaft would be for something stiffer and to bring up the SW so I can feel the head better during the swing.

As far as the 100s of 2-irons I’ve tried, it is in the top 3 in forgiveness. Depends if it’s a club right for you in the first place. Kinda flagrant to say it’s not forgiving at all. An absolute winner club in its category

Mine arrived yesterday and I got to hit it on a GC2 this morning to compare to the 0311XF 3 iron it would be replacing. Very good results with the stock 85g shaft but I love light shafts. Didn't feel like it launched too high at all (7* on the GC2) and I usually launch the ball high. Goes like a missile and does better on slight mishits than the PXG. Gained 6 mph ball speed, lost 1000 rpm spin, gained 12-13 yards carry over the PXG.
