• History: This is the inaugural event. The Brickyard Crossing Golf Course will host the inaugural Indy Women in Tech Championship presented by Guggenheim. With Guggenheim Life as the title sponsor, the tournament will feature a full field of 144 players competing for a $2 million purse. The event will be held September 7-9, 2017 at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, a Pete Dye-designed course that weaves through the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Note that this is a 3 round event with a Saturday finish. I assume the tour wants to avoid any conflict with the NFL. Brickyard Crossing is a wonderful Pete Dye design. Holes 7 - 10 are in the infield of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. However, I believe they are going to adjust the routing so that the infield holes play as the 15th - 18th. It'll be interesting to see how they set of the grandstands around the new 18th, as there isn't a lot of room.

 

I would normally pick In Gee to win, given her play recently. However, she's skipping this tournament. I'm going to go with Stacy for back to back wins.

Course layout. They flipped the nines on the course, and shifted the holes by one. The 18th is now the 8th.

Yup...I'd be pretty miserable playing golf and staying at the Evian Golf Resort over looking Lake Geneva and then stopping in Paris for a few days with my spouse before heading home.

I'd forgotten about that. Too bad. It's a fun one to watch--I used to get a kick out of the U.S. broadcasters apologizing for the French camera crew.

Ive played the Brickyard a few times in amateur tourneys, anxious to see how the women play it since all the tourneys outside the state open have played it the same length as the women are this week. The senior tour used to be here and they would tear it up from the tips to the tune of -20 for the week.

I was considering it, but I'll probably save it for next year, along with the KPMG at Kemper Lakes.

 

I'm guessing the winner will shoot -18 for the three rounds. Similar to the new event in Green Bay, I have a feeling they won't want to set it up too difficult the first time around to avoid a bloodbath on an unfamiliar course. The weather forecast looks gorgeous, with highs in the low to mid 70's each of the three days, plenty of sun, and light winds.

She's now 16 up. Yikes. I played this course three years ago, and it's no pushover. These women are d*mn good.

we had a bunch of rain yesterday afternoon/evening, so the course is soft as possibly can be. this time of year its typically firm and fast and fun to play the crowned greens.

 

ive never played the course where its soft, always have trouble holding the greens with a wedge even this time of year in indy. hope it dries out some to see if it toughens up
