Lydia's hot putting continues, as she's three under for her round after 6 holes. Marissa Steen is -5 for the day after 7 holes.

Lydia appears to have finally found her putting stroke, but just as important is she appears to have ditched her search for more distance and gone back to hitting fairways with her 225 yard distance average.. when she was trying to draw and add distance she couldn't find the fairways but hit it 250 yards.. not surprising with the fairways hit the GIR is back to her usual..

Agreed. She's a natural smooth tempo player, with an ability for great accuracy/consistency. Hopefully she learned and will just play to her strength from now on. Afterall, it was good enough for a #1 ranking

I wasn't going to allow anyone to get in the way of my Lydia Lexi duel, I had to put down the foot, and a 10 ( hextuple ?) she got.

'Classic example of how two different styles of play can get it done. Lydia is averaging 227 yards per drive, but still has 33/36 greens. Lexi is averaging an astounding 292 yards, and has hit three fewer greens. They've both managed 54 putts.

 

Whether she pulls out a win or not, I sure hope this is the start of Lydia's "comeback". Forget the quest for length off the tee. Hitting greens, making putts, and clutch scrambling took her to #1.

I was there Friday and enjoyed it. Watched Lexi warm-up and the way she pounds the ball left me feeling very unmanly! I'd never been to the Brickyard, it was fun to see the holes inside the track. Was pulling for Sandra Gal, so watching 16 was downright sad!

 

One a side note, on Thursday, I took a putting lesson from Bruce Rearick and he is the man! Over the years, I've taken putting lessons from Sones, Weeks and Sieckmann...but Bruce's lesson was fantastic! I would add, Sieckmann is the man for chipping and pitching!
