New Cobra CBs/MBs Coming Spring 2018

I am really anxious to here about a release date for the MB’s. I am looking at picking up a new set and these would be on the radar, but don’t want to wait until fall.

Any news if the KING FORGED TOUR Irons will be replaced or stick around for another year?

 

Hard to say, I haven't seen any updates on them myself. These are my favorite irons by far, so I'm definitely going to keep my eyes peeled on where Cobra is going next with them. I wouldn't mind seeing the Orange color scheme going away, as even Rickie himself seems to be departing from it. However, outside of the one orange line, they are an amazing looking club, and I know I'm going to be very picky with whatever comes next!

 

Pretty sure in one of these threads someone said a higher up at Cobra said they King Forged are not being replaced this year. With the MB/CB and ForgedTec coming, along with the F8 line, I really dont see why they would anyways. Plenty of options

 

I didn't think they would release a new set it was just hopeful wishing. This line seems to run a 2 year cycle since the AMP FORGED and FLYZ+. They're unbelievable Irons. Hopefully the next set will do away with the orange but wouldn't be a deal breaker.

Has anyone been able to dig up any more info on the Forged TEC one length? Curious if they come stock with the same DG AMT shafts as the prog length. I know on other OL releases they like to use a different shaft profile.

I didn't think they would release the Forged TEC in one length being they have the F8 and King Forged in one length versions.

whereas I would prefer a even smaller offset - if anything.

I was looking at a set of last years forged tours...these cb/mb would be awesome....heard something about early march release for the black wedge.

Its a real shame, moving to either Callaway X Forged or more likely Mizuno MP18 blend as Cobra are not letting us know when thew launch date is! Its not that they are not available it's we do not know when? - Please note any Cobra people this is bad business and costing you sales.

Bad business? They haven’t advertised anything. It sounds like a manufacturing issue and someone online stores leaked the info.

Cobra is actually doing a good job by answering phone questions about the product that they technically haven’t even said is a tangible thing yet.

It would awesome if they would make the 2-6 MB in lefty. I love my combo set, but a 4-6 in blades would be sweet.

was just told by the CPG rep that there are no new MB/CB irons coming out this year. There is a new forged line coming out though, he said. I've yet to send him the pic of the 2018 MBs with the gray paint that someone screenshotted.

Everyone is saying different things. I was told by their CS at HQ they’d be unveiled later this year, your guy said they’re not coming out, someone else is talking to a Cobra reps mom and she is saying something else.

It’s all speculation and wishful thinking. I’ll just roll with the current set if I feel like giving up the MP18s

I think that it doesn't really matter, because it is for sure no mistake to buy and play the 2016 / 2017 version.

 

Try them with a Nippon shaft, and buy them, if they suit you.

Ooh I have had two sets already. I highly agree that the 2016 set is incredible and actually do prefer them over my mizuno MP18s.

However, I haven’t tried them with anything other than C taper and c taper lite shafts.

Someone mentioned earlier about Andy Carter, who is a Cobra staffer, and his latest fitting for new irons. His WITB dropped and it looks like the old MBs. I would think he would be gaming the new ones if they were hitting this spring, so might be some truth to the no new CB/MB in 2018.

He replied to my Instagram congratulatory post saying they are in deed the 2016 model and as soon as the 2018's are ready, he'll receive some. I agree with your assessment on the timeframe to availability, not this Spring. Likely Summer or early Fall. I hope I'm wrong. This will dictate what I play this year.

Close. I want a full set of 2018 MB's. If I wanted the combo, I already have two sets, at worst I could swap shafts.

 

Well, I don't know for sure, so I would likely test them for a bit. At that point, if they're virtually the same as the 2016's, it would come down to deciding if I wanted to play a full bag of all black clubs (aesthetics, basically).
