Playstation VUE has been great, in my experience.

Channels in the $45 core package include Golf Channel.

https://www.playstat...k/vue/channels/

All you need is a currently-supported device.

Or you can just log in on your phone or a browser on your computer. It's great because you can take it anywhere.

If it's available in your area, look into YouTube TV. It's $35 a month for 40 channels, golf channel included along with several others sports channels like ESPN, NBC Sports, Big 10 network, CBS sports.

This is on my radar once my current contract is up.

The NBC Sports app on Roku or Apple TV will stream broadcasts of live events on both TGC and NBC. The NBC Sports iPad app will let you stream TGC (and if you have apple TV you can use AirPlay to send it to the TV). In either case you'll need to pay for the service. Not sure if you can just buy an NBC Sports sub but I share my parents Dish network credentials (that they pay for) and we in turn share some other streaming services (that we pay for) that allow multiple devices to be used on one account.

I second the recommendation for YouTube TV. $35 a month and you can watch Golf Channel on your TV, computer, tablet, phone, etc. Each family member gets their own login through their Google account and it let's you record shows too through the virtual DVR.

About 90% of the time I am using YouTube TV it is on Golf Channel... :D

I would only cut the cord on the Golf Channel if I can still get their cheesy Machete Rails and Haney Blueprint and GX-7 commercials. Do you get the regular commercials when you stream through Playstation Vue?

Sling also has a sports package that has the GC, though I think the total cost will be a bit more than Vue or YouTube TV, but YouTube TV isn't widely available yet.

Right now there are huge options for cord cutters, though with the repeal of Net Neutrality in the end most of us will get porked again by the cable companies.

I don’t think people are watching the golf channel, regardless if they have cable or not.

You may be right about that. Any more I only watch TGC for live golf coverage. My days of watching Golf Central, Morning Drive, or similar programming are over. When my contract with DirecTV is over in about a year, I'll definitely be looking for alternatives. I never thought I'd say this, but the alternative we decide on just might not include TGC.

I will be dropping mine at renewal time. I do not care for the talking heads taking up two hours of the five hour live golf.

Stopped watching the morning stuff long ago. It lost my interest when they started all the rinse and repeat programming.

How is it "cutting the cord" if your just buying service through some other provider? I thought "cutting the cord" was cutting the cord and getting rid of paid services.

Could be anything from a complete cut and only use an OTA (over the air antenna) which is completely free to subscribing. Or subscribe to various content providers streaming only what you want, which will still be a lot less than full cable.

You're correct, of course, in the literal sense. I'm just not sure I could ever completely "cut the cord", nor would I want to. But I'm definitely going to look for cheaper alternatives when my current DTV contract expires. Spending over $100 a month for TV alone is just silly.

PlayStation Vue currently. Considered jumping ship for YouTube TV, but it's missing some channels that I like and only allows 3 simultaneous streams (4 simultaneous is not unusual in my house, PS Vue allows 5).

This has been my argument. You've still got to get internet into the house. In my case, I've got one choice, which would cost me $90/mth for service plus another $20 for the modem, fees and taxes. If I get a $60 streaming plan from some secondary provider, I'm right back paying the same $170/mth I'm paying now. Furthermore, with net neutrality now out the window, my internet provider will surely be cutting speeds to the secondary streaming providers.

We are in the initial stages of cord cutting ( kind of). Last week we dropped our 5 year U-verse account. Bought internet at $45/ 100 mbps. It’s not the fastest offered, it should work. Went with direct tv now. Offered our locals and 90% of the channels we normally watch. Also the premium channels are much cheaper than the other services. For the golf channel, and didn’t want a package, I’d find a device that I could just cast their coverage onto my tv ( Apple TV, chromecast). Thus far I haven’t really missed much and have save $100 a month.

Using Roku device. I got Sling TV Blue for $25, added sports package with GC for $10. 55ish channels for $35 a month. Outside antenna gives another 67 channels. Being members of Amazon prime you get prime TV free which equals thousands of movies & shows. Internet is $60. Now my bill is $100 a month vs $180 with Spectrum.

Hulu Live TV is what I am using now. Seems to me it and Youtube TV are the best game in town for "alternative" TV providers.

We tried Hulu Live TV and ran into constant buffering issues. Switched to PSVue and have had no problems with buffering, so we're sticking with it.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
